Hello Bruce. I hope you get a lot of pleasure from your first Scania. I say first because once you have one, you will get another one. I run five V8 Scanias , three 580hps, and two 660hp ones, all tandem drives. They operate in Western Australia, and the Northern Territory hauling grain triples with a gross train weight of 154000kgs or 154 metric tonnes. All have 4.1:1 differentials on 8 bag air rides. We have geared them with 4.1 differentials due to the high gross weights, which gives them a top speed of 88kph (55mph), which allows them to run at 1950rpm at that weight. Once you get your maintenance program to how you want, it will be a brilliant truck. I noticed on your video that whoever owned it before you bought it totally neglected it. We run all our units on fully synthetic 15/40 engine oil and drop all the oils at 250 engine hour intervals. Just thought I'd let you know that a lot of operators forget to peel the sediment on the inside of the centrifugal oil cleaner. All our trucks have dual Donaldson air cleaners mounted behind the cab purely because there are times we travel through flooded roads, and having the aircleaners high behind the cab prevents the possibility of water being drawn into the engine. Our last three Scanias were ordered with water, fuel, and ancillary filters mounted on a rack also behind the cab.We try to limit idle times on our trucks to a minimum except for warm-up. Hope you enjoy your Scania. Our next truck, which is due in February 2024, is a 770hp twin steer tridrive. This unit will operate in the mining areas towing quad six axle trailers. Happy days, you've done well.

That rear Axel is pretty Tough.. in the Netherlands we haul 50tons 50.000kg total weight of the combination.. or a max of 60.000kg as an lzv (roadtrain) 25.25meter length. You can have around 10tons of pressure on the Axel.. but it can handle much more 🎉. Keep up the Scania love.. i drive one myself

The Turbo is already quite big. This engine is a low rev engine that has it maximum power at 1900 rpm. They pull well from 7-800 rpm. Max tourqe at 1100 or something like that. IN norway we have alot of Scanias and from now and then you hear them with straight pipe all over the place. This is the smaller 14,2 litre engine ( DSI 14 )

Now you have to get a big load on a trailer and look for the steepest up hill and challenge those weak US trucks 🙂 My father was a testdriver on Scanias testtrack in Södertälje. This was before they hit the road with the V8 in the late 60:ies. Back then they had 600 HP on the engine for serious testing! And the torque was outstanding at the time!

Most p/u trucks have 6 bolts on the beds. All you do is remove 3 bolt from 1 side. Loosen 2 and remove 1 from the other. Then you can tilt the bed to change the in tank fuel pump.

Euro trucks are generally 7.1t on the steer and lift axles, 11.5t on the drive axles be that single or double drive and trailers tend to be 8t per axle. Metric tons not US tons.
