@@thegrimdeath1 it cannot happen to boxes. the scammers use a precise scale in order to see what packs have what in them. they then open packs that deviate from the others by a few grams since holos have different weights to them than rares/commons edit: boxes are not able to be scaled because there is a set amount of holos in them

Vincent Rosado wow, that sucks. Did you claim a refund? If the seller advertises it as “factory sealed” and does what happened to you, then it’s not what was described and therefore refundable. Also, if it’s factory sealed, the wrapper around the box will say “Konami.” Most people who resell these things will use a standard plastic seal with no insignia, and more often than not will do a bad job of reselling it.

I once bought over 20 legendary duelists 2 packs from a „trusted“ seller on cardmarket, i pulled no foils. In a legendary duelists box u get 36 packs and pull about 10-15 foils. So every 3rd to 4th pacl should have one. I pulled only rares, reported this on cardmarket and the seller blocked me lol

Watching this, it makes me feel so insanely lucky about the last time I ever got "loose packs" of anything. 36 Skyridge and 36 Aquapolis (Pokemon) in 2012. Had thought I was buying boxes and got loose. Got plenty of foils but it was scary to realize how I could have been scammed a few years later.

I confronted the owner and he even said they buy loose packs from distributors for 1$ a pack... No one is selling them that cheap period. So i was definitely scammed as well.

I remember all of this. There were whole forum threads about this back in the 2000s up on the Pojo forums on pocket scaling. Where you weigh the packs to strip the valuables before ditching the junk. I was never involved in any of it, but I knew a decent hundred people who were and had no shame in doing any of it even while at the Big Box outlets.

No, they use a scale. Foil cards weigh slightly more than regular cards. Through careful examination of each packs weight, you can tell which has foils

also you can check on the curve of of the pack.... some people shake the pack and can tell whether there are foils in the pack! This is another reason that some ocg shop sell cards either in the whole box or do not allow people to touch the pack

It happened to me once and I was devastated, because what I ordered was the golden edition box because of the price, where in the description stated there’s cards in these packs but what happened when it was delivered the package felt light and as soon I opened the the package the box was not wrapped in plastic showing sign it was open with a slice mark, in fear I opened the lid with mix feelings and what happen, empty all of them were empty no sign of any boosters, ripped off.

I knew someone back in the 90s, who knew how to open packs, swipe the cards he wanted, put back cards he didnt like and crazy glue it so it looked new then brought it back to the store and exchanged it for a new pack. I wonder if this is the same situation?

I'm so glad you made a video on this, recently i bought 28 packs of Sisters of Rose from Takealot (South african online store) and i got .... 0 FOILS. But wait there's more, not only were the packs scaled, they were also opened. Like you can physically see the number of cards in the pack was 4 instead of 5. 10 packs were open and the ones that weren't open had no foils either. I filed for a refund. I tried to find out who the seller was but all ive received was a part refund and no explanation of what actions were taken to take the seller up on this shadeyness. So yeh, just dont buy single packs guys, unless its from a source you can trust (e.g. simply unlucky or your local gamestore) because it seems this scam is getting more and more prevalent.

a while back I bought 24 blister packs of FOTB from wal-mart and I got 4 supers, 2 of each of the sky-scourge supers that had barely any foil on their cards, so couldn't really be scaled out. That was the last time I bought packs that were not Konami sealed.

Pokemon TCGs countermeasures to scaling is pretty smart. In short, the code cards are lighter when you get a foil, that way every pack weighs the same. I could be wrong but that's what I was told as to how you can "spoil" a pack by looking at the code card.

Something to note is that "mapping" is a thing in core sets now for a bit, where holos can end up in the exact same places in each box so even though scaling wouldnt be as effective because every pack has a holo unlike Legendary Duelist, loose packs can still be rigged. Buying loose packs is extremely dangerous and you should only do so from sellers of high feedback (and even then they could buy from someone they "trust" an end up with second hand bad packs) and record the openings like this.

Something similar happened to me bought an "unopened" Magical Hero case from Turtle Rock Gaming through TCG gaming and it turned out to be a resealed box, I still got 2 Ultras and 4 Supers (3 of which were Performal Celestial Magician). Was severely disappointed as Magical Hero is what inspired me to get back into Yu-gi-oh and it sold out within its release week

I understand about getting scammed by some sellers. One person gave me like 30 packs of cards with all weighed and only got rares and crud cards I already have. It happened a number of times to me from online stores/sellers and why I dislike buying packs online. Reminds me a person/ seller who sold cards (left his job as a teacher) and he would by boxes and packs taking all the good cards out and would resell the packs with some or little cards in them. I remember taking some packs to choose and saw they were opened, thin and barely felt like cards in them. It was the last time I bought from him since he scammed me (and I was in my teens and a kid and spent lots of money). Plus he even sold fake cards claiming they were real. I bought a fake dragon master knight for like $60 which I hate now that I got scammed from him.

Weighing packs has been a thing in Yugioh since the beginning. In fact one day I went to a local game store in Austin, Texas (Must have been about 2003 or so) and I brought up pack weighing with a large group of people who had just bought a large amount of packs from the store. They got zero foil cards and were really annoyed by it. Turns out the owner was there and did not like what I was suggesting and he threw me out. Come to find out later that he'd been scaling packs since he'd opened his store in 2001 and was screwing over hundreds of customers by selling those weighed packs. He went out of business in 2004 so even though he embarrassed me that day by throwing me out, he really embarrassed himself and the community turned against him. The vindication was nice.

Amazon sellers do this as well. Only place you can get them individual now is the seal little packs you seen at target.

Also some stores that sell yugioh, what they do is milk the envelopes, they open the boxes carefully and they already have their sealer so that the box looks like new, they take out the envelopes that are heavier and return the envelopes with junk letters, they keep the best cards and sell them on tcg or troll and toad

I bought some loose packs a few years ago, the seller said they removed them from the box to save me the cost of shipping, I'm certain they were scaled now.

That’s why I only buy sealed boxes. This is very common with loose packs.

Is this only happening with ebay? I'm scared to buy more of those packs from a real store. I love this set aswell i love seeing all the dark magician cards with a few extra from the other anime

It doesn't stop at weighing packs, there is also box mapping, certain booster boxes the ultras and secrets are in the same spot every box. I bought 36 packs no ultras or secrets. What are the odds?
