As an ex-pat living in California for 30+ years, I can assure you that whatever baked bean they do have here, they’re nothing like real British Heinz baked beans. The apology had us both in stitches. Love it!! 😅😅😅

get a couple of smooth poles. rig up a makeshift hammock for night time to keep the bags off the ground outside. grease the bottom of the poles to stop rats climbing. we'ed do similar when camping with food and rubbish.

Ahoy from Georgia in the US.....Love barbecue bake beans and the apology was hilarious. In the south we put brown sugar, little bit of mustard, (yellow) liquid smoke, sauté onions, extra barbecue sauce and bake from 30 to 45 mins... yum yum.

Trying to find bins, especially recycling ones and store rubbish on a boat is so much harder than anyone can imagine. My worst experience was accidently storing a bag on the stern overnight which had a brand new designer handbag in. I'd been carrying it around for over a year and as you know, a handbag isn't practical living on a boat so it was still pristene in the wrapping. Overnight it had been eaten through by a bunch of rats, so I had to colour all the missing pieces in with a matching sharpie 😂 and the wellie walk of shame.... its definitely a thing!

Being in my 60s I can uphold Wes! In our day as us kids did not like olives, it was pineapple and grapes with cocktail onions and cheese squares. All stuck in a potato wrapped in foil to make the hedgehog look. Call me old fashioned 😂

The bean cooking overture was completely grand as well. Who could have guessed that taking out the rubbish could lead to such a wonderful two pub evening. As a Brit living in the US, I will say they have baked beans but they’re loaded with sugar. I have to buy Heinz or Batchelors from a specialty store, for a crazy price. The cheapest thing ever, but I’ve spent up to £5 a can!!!

Oh my! Mice😮 so funny, we love beans but not on toast. In the south of America, we eat grits and eggs for breakfast. We also in baked beans with barbecue pork. Pork is big in the deep south as it is called. Regions are so different.

I applaud your integrity and your gushing sincerity. We do, in America relish Baked beans but usually only bits them out for BBQ. I would like to give you a heads up. Let’s talk about Heinz Sauce. I, as an America have often wondered why is it called Heinz 57 sauce. Little did I know the rest of 56 sauces are stocked on British shelves in abundance. Keep those mice out…we have just a ten week-war with a family of them who stole our lounge, kitchen and our peace of mind. In the end we had to throw out all my soft furnishings, sofa and rugs. Decorate and refurnish…just because they decided to come in through the patio at the end of September. Careful taking the bin bag back in the boat as they could be in there! ❤

That was so funny, yes. Yanks do have baked beans but they aren't really like ours , more of an adult food, usually spicy or bbq flavour. visitors would bring suitcases full of Heinz over for us.

Well, I have to say that I was very happy to see my comment in your vlog about the baked beans. I might also add that even though I said they we bland, I have been to the UK 55 times and have enjoyed immensely my breakfasts including the Heinz beans. I do, however, make a full English breakfast every second day, which does include British sausages, and I do like the American version of baked beans which I add a little barbeque sauce to. Wes your 100% correct there is a thing called a cheese and fruit platter. This includes cheese cubes and grapes on a cocktail stick. Usually red and green grapes with a cube of cheese in the middle.

FYI: as an American living in the U.K. for many years….baked beans are different in the U.K. US baked beans are very sweet with a molasses base while U.K. ones are more tomato based and much less sweet. The Heinz ones can be found in the US in some supermarkets with a British section but they are not typical. Bush’s are the best beans but absolutely nothing like the British baked beans.

In the US try the Heinz vegetarian beans in the regular baked beans section of any supermarket. They are actually made in Canada. My British hubby loves his beans on toast and these are our beans of choice.
