We Visit SENDAI DAIKANNON - The 5th Tallest Statue in the WORLD!

What's up guys! Andrew and Nishant here! Whenever we do streams from Sendai, people inevitably ask about the city's most famous, yet least promoted attraction... Sendai DAIKANNON! When it was completed in 1991, the Daikannon was the tallest statue in the world. Although it has since been surpassed (it's now the 5th tallest), the statue still towers imposingly over the residential area in which it stands. Neither of us had ever made a pilgrimage to the Daikannon, so we thought we'd film our adventure there.

Wow! Fascinating. I’d be really scared to see it. When you turned the corner and it was there and said it was like something in the background of a game, I saw what you meant. Proper too big and scary. I have a touch of megalomania. (Fear of massive structures, statues etc.) When I went on a school trip to Paris many years ago and The Arc De Triomph came into view I was overwhelmed and scared and stunned and amazed at the same time. It was so massive. If I had the chance to see it again I wouldn’t lol. Talking of huge statues. Look up The Colossus of Rhodes- one of the 7 ancient wonders of the world. (Artist impressions.) I can’t imagine how I’d feel sailing towards that. I bet you could see it’s head hundreds of miles away. Too scary. Anyway, enjoyed the film thank you from England UK.
