Fun fact: In the opening scene, Devon Sawa who played Alex Browning, was supposed to pretend to be asleep, but he actually fell asleep for about four hours. And also, during the scene where Carter elbows Billy in the car was added in because on the day of shooting that scene, Seann William Scott had a sore lip. In order to hide it, the makeup team added blood and the end result was of Carter elbowing Billy.

18:08 for y'all English speakers that is simply the name of his friend but in this spelling Tod instead of two d's, that is literally the German word for Death. So, watching the movie as a German this scene was as if Alex picks up the piece of paper and it screams "DEATH" at him.

6:30 The lyric "Fire in the Sky" from John Denver's Rocky Mountain High is unrelated to a plane crash. There is no line stating, "I've seen a plane on fire in the sky." The reference was to the fact that John Denver himself passed away in a plane crash three years before the movie's release.

@8:00 I haven't been on a plane since the 90's when I was a teenager, but I remember one flight I was on with my younger sister. We were flying alone, and I think I was around 13, and she was 11 (it was around 1995), and we were flying from St. Louis, MO, to New Orleans, LA. The plane was actually pulling away from the terminal and we were about to begin taxiing down the runway, when all of a sudden, the pilot pulled back into the terminal and like 3 police officers boarded the plane and removed a man in handcuffs. My sister and I were hysterically crying. I have no idea who the man was nor what he did that warrented him to be removed in handcuffs, but us being two young teenage girls at the time, who were flying without our parents, we were scared shitless. One of the flight attendants was extremely nice, though. She came and sat in the empty seat next to us and talked to us until we calmed down. Then there was another flight we were on around the same year (my sister and I used to fly all the time by ourselves) that almost the same thing happened. We were pulling away from the terminal, but instead of the pilot pulling back in, the plane sat there and they had a bunch of plane maintenance crew all gather around the plane and begin working on it. We were freaked out that time too, thinking something was very wrong with the plane, and that something was gonna break once we got into the air and thinking we were going to crash and die 😂. I remember frantically hitting the button for the flight attendant, and when she came over we were visibly shaking and crying asking what was going on, and the flight attendant (calm as can be) told us that they just had a little bit of trouble getting one of the engines started and had to use ground air to help it start (I have no idea how all that works), but that is what we were told. She kept assuring us that everything was perfectly fine and told us that if she ever had any inkling that something bad was going to happen or that something was seriously wrong, she wouldn't hesitate to be the first to step up and have everyone de-plane.

Also fun fact well not fun but flght 180 is based off of an actual aviation accident from 1996. TWA Flght 800 minutes after take the fully loaded 747 spontaneous exploded the front separated from the rest, the remaining fuselage with all the passengers engulfed in flames climbed for a few seconds before it stall and fell back to earth wing blows off everyone died. The cause was a exposed wire that jumped to a different wire causing a short circuit to spark the heated vapors in the almost empty center feul tank. The spark ignited the vapors that were there in the center tank because when they were fueling the plane, they left the center tank almost empty, the tank was also above the motors for the AC system that was keeping the passengers cool, for over an hour. Because they were checking to see if a passenger was on the plane because the bag was in but they couldn't find the person. So the plane sat on the hot tarmatt, for over an hour with the AC moters getting hotter and hotter, so the remaining fuel in the center tank became vaporized, and when it sparked. The tank exploded.

Fun fact if it wasn’t said in the comments: Originally, Alex and Clear was originally suppose to fall in love with each other and had an intimacy moment in the movie but it was scrapped. Close to the end, Alex does not survive holding the electrical wires, instead sacrificing himself to save Clear and their unborn baby. The ending included Clear and Carter visiting the memorial site of the lives lost on flight 180 and the freak accidents that followed, including Alex, as Clear holds her son, who shares his father's name. This ending was scrapped due to the screening wanting Alex to live so they switched the romance and the ending to the ending we have right here

They actually teased how some of the character were gonna die before they did. Todd make a strangling motion towards Alex hinting him dying that way, when Billy is watching the plane fly away you can see the plane fly across his face in the reflection like it’s cutting through his face, and at the airport behind Terry you can see a painting of a bus on the wall and it looks like it’s driving towards her.

28:33 not sure if you noticed but the record Val Lewton picked is again John Denver; as Alex pointed out at the airport, he died in a plane crash; also when she packs up the horn we get a good shot of her front door which holds a stained glass window depicting a dagger; she finally dies from the stab wound and since you watched the second one already it is interestingly the way Eugene would have died if he had not replaced Val Lewton as the teacher replacing him died in a stabbing; and speaking of that strange similarity, Eugene is stabbed by a pole in the car accident which causes him to be in the hospital where he dies eventually in an explosion while the explosions here caused her to get stabbed;

The film is based on an actual event, the explosion of TWA FLT 800, a Boeing 747-100 that subsequently crashed into the Atlantic near East Moriches, New York, on July 17, 1996, 12 minutes after takeoff from JFK, on a scheduled international flight to Rome with a stopover in Paris. There were no survivors. Parallels between the movie and the actual event include the type of aircraft involved, departure airport, both planes had students heading to Paris for a class trip, both planes exploded not long after takeoff and the cause of the explosion was the same in both cases, I believe. The news report Alex watches shows actual footage of TWA FLT 800's wreckage burning in the water. I would imagine the relatives of those killed probably weren't fans of this movie. Another thing I noticed about the film are the frequent references to water. Water is everywhere. Water is commonly a symbol of death, burial and resurrection. Death seems to be personified by water in the film. Seems like it was raining at the airport. The plane's wreckage falls into water. There's the water in the bathroom when Tod dies. There's a scene with Alka-Seltzer being dropped into a glass of water. There's the steaming kettle and the water leaking from the cracked mug. Alex almost drowns in shallow water. There's the canoe trip. There's the swimming-pool. It's raining when they're in the car. One of the characters is even named "Clear Rivers." Even the beer they're drinking could be considered water. Likewise, the Vodka, which means "water" in Russian, I believe. "Water, water, everywhere and all the boards did shrink." Also, all those electrical events in the film are analogous to water. Electricity is commonly analogized to water, e.g., electrical current etc. So, electricity = water = The Grim Reaper. It's great to find all this symbolism in a film that's primarily meant to be a good, albeit somewhat gruesome, entertainment, which it is. Of course, there's also the somewhat more obvious references to the number 180, John Denver, who died in a plane accident, etc. Oh, don't forget six months = 180 days, guys! Also, the signage at the end in Paris also has 180 on it. Another thing I saw was the use of German language and references to German filmmakers who were known for some famous, what you might call, horror movies. "Der Tod" is the German word for "death." Tod's the first survivor to die. In real life, if I were him, I wouldn't like that name and would have been very concerned from the get-go after the plane exploded. The character of male teacher Murnau, who died on the plane, is almost certainly a reference to F. W. Murnau, the German director regarded as one of the most influential filmmakers for his work in the silent era. He famously directed "Nosferatu," a film about a vampire. Agent Schreck is a reference to the German actor Max Schreck who played the vampire, Count Orlok, in "Nosferatu." Interestingly, "Schreck" in German means "scare" or "fright." Agent Weine must be named after Robert Weine. He directed "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari," another German horror movie. Also, the surnames of the other characters in the film had associations with real people involved in the past production of Hollywood horror/thriller films. A sort of tip of the hat to them, I suppose. Yes, everyone gets a kick out of the line "Are there any survivors?" Ah, NO! It blew up in the air. But, you know, I wouldn't put it past someone actually asking that question, especially a reporter. Oh, after the train crash, look at Carter's pants. Yeah, and Tod foreshadows his death by making a hanging motion on the plane when Alex agrees to change seats with the girls. I think the lady teacher's death was most over-the-top because she was married to the film's producer or someone like that. An inside joke, I guess. Oh, Alex has a nice a$$, too. Real nice. I think the mortician is an agent of Death.

In case you didn't know this about FINAL DESTINATION Film's The Grim Reaper is also known as the Angel of Death, and the concept of an "angel of death" is that a being comes to a person at the moment of death to take their soul to the afterlife. However, the Bible does not teach that there is a specific angel who is in charge of death or present when someone dies. Second Kings 19:35 describes an angel killing 185,000 Assyrians who invaded Israel, and some also believe that Exodus chapter 12 describes an angel killing the firstborn of Egypt during the days of MOSES
