There IS a theory that Chili (the mom) had a miscarriage before she had Blue. These cot/crib in the one episode and then in I think it was the Mother’s Day episode, have hints. There’s the cot we saw. Then in the Mother’s Day ep, they start by establishing how Chili comforts Bingo when she’s sad. Bingo later puts on a play based on Chili’s life. To symbolize Chili’s pregnancy with Bluey, they put a blue balloon under the dress she wears. The balloon pop and Chili IMMEDIATELY gets upset and Bandit (the dad) comforts her while Bungo runs off to cry. Chili is too upset to go to her, something she always does, so Blue goes. There are a couple more episodes, like the unhatched planet that was closest to the sun in the Sleepy Time episode, but they aren’t are big or obvious.

Don't mind me taking this opportunity to vent some personal shit. My mom had a miscarriage before having me, something she only ever said to me directly once, and never told my younger brother. I've had to put the pieces together to realize this really important part of my mom's life that happened to her before I was ever even considered, and she only told me because I asked after seeing these little clues that developed into something I just had to know. It may not seem important, but it recontextualized a lot for me, and seeing a mom in a show for such a young demographic reflect my own mother seriously hits close to home. I think my mom misses that potential in what could have been my older brother, and knowing that seriously helped me understand a part of my mom I never would have considered. It's the little things she does. Sometimes things that I've seen her get hurt over. Sorry, it just means a lot to know that something like that can be portrayed in kids' media in a way that is respectful, even if speculative. It's hard to emulate just what I feel when I imagine Chilli going through something my own mother experienced in real life.

People actually say that Chili did have a miscarriage because of one episode where Bluey and Bingo act out how Bandit and Chili met and it showed that Bingo had a balloon under her shirt and the balloon bursted and Bandit and Chili had a serious reaction so that led to believe that Chili had a miscarriage
@teapartypenguin1353 Жыл бұрын
It's also implied that aunt Brandy can't have children at all, so a lot of people think that fertility issues may run on Chili's side of the family, and Brandy distanced herself from Chili because Chili was able to have a healthy family when she couldn't. Which was why they hadn't spoken in a couple years. Bluey lore runs deep.

I love how bluey doesn't like, talk down to kids. You see it all too often in 'kids shows' where children are thought of as incompetent (while it may be true for some children the majority aren't actually as stupid as people give them credit for, also it's age dependent.) It's also a good show to watch *with* kids if you're a parental figure. The number of things both children and parents/guardians can take out of bluey is so refreshing. It makes it feel like you're watching an actual family. Also, the subjects they cover remind me a bit of sesame street. It's nice seeing a show talk about topics most shy away from.

@@velocityraptor2890 Exactly! Its not like Calliou where you want to smash your face into your desk, and it's also not like "oh yes children everyone should have those." It's showing you how a family can function and reminds you that, yes, you're going to be frustrated with kids, but they are so dependent on you being able to *teach* them right from wrong. They'll never learn if they aren't annoying. The show shows a functional family and teaches those who may one day have kids what having them means. Yeah. Lucky's dad is totally not lucky when the Heelers are around. He for real gets a bad rap when it comes to the Heeler's playtime.
@sparkymularkey6970 Жыл бұрын
I know it was totally said as a joke about how this show makes people not want to have kids, but it actually made me think about actually WANTING to have kids for the first time in my life, just so that I could try my best to be like their dad Bandit. He's the dad we all deserve.

Aussie to N. American translation: "Don't you heelers muck around." Bluey is a breed known as blue heeler, so his offspring are heelers as well. And just change "muck" to "mess".
@jasonbrennan9918 Жыл бұрын
Heeler is also the family's surname which I think is the context it was being used in.

I’m so glad u noticed their playing Planets in the background of the Sleepytime episode! I freaked out since I already know they incorporate a lot of classical for a kids show, but hearing Jupiter playing at the end I was like dang! They got Jupiter!

The creator has outright said that Chili - the mother - has at least one miscarriage before Bluey. The implication is that this is way she and Dad go so far in their kids' games - to give the kids that made it the most fulfilling childhoods possible.

"I'm surprised Bluey is a female" have you never heard of Blue's Clues, Blue is a female blue dog also fun fact the oldest confirm dog was a female Australian cattle dog named Bluey en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluey_(dog) I wonder if Bluey was named after her or was just a coincidence

Australian Cattle Dogs are commonly referred to as Blue Heelers or Red Heelers (according to their colouring). That's why they named the character Bluey.

I would LOVE to see Jack, Kor, and Eden react to Winnie the Pooh, just to laugh as they make fun of it while unironically enjoying it. As for which series to start with, I'd recommend either The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh or its successor The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.
