It has a very sexy cast, outrageously over the top women's clothes, it's set in Paris, Mindy singing is amazing, a plot line that manages to be suspenseful even when it's predictable. This is not "good" TV. It's visual junk food.

Haha, I was an expat for many years in a few different countries and the meeting with Mindy feels the most true of all this crap. You do tend to put yourself out there more and be more willing to make new friends than you would be if you were in your own country, especially if you don't speak the language! But unfortunately, i met too many people like Emily In Paris. Didn't bother learnining the language, culture or anything about the country they lived in .

Or has she been living in such a bubble her entire life that she doesn't understand basic ass ideas like "When in Rome, do as the Romans" when traveling abroad? Like, you're completely out of your element...be more observant and humble? Forget about learning French (like you said, it was on very short notice), did she not do ANY research on French culture & customs. For example, simply saying hello and goodbye any time you enter a bakery, restaurant, bank, store, etc. goes a LONG way!

Speaking as someone who was a fashion student from Chicago who spent a semester in Paris (yep, I was one of those) in 2019…I refused to watch this show just based off the trailer. I knew it would make me ✨uncomfy ✨ The outfits they put in Emily in weren’t great & I had a feeling it’d be a little cringe and misrepresent French people…also I had a feeling it’d make me self reflect on how annoying I must’ve been when I came back and I didn’t want to do that 😂 Edit: oh okay I was right

HOWEVER no one wanted to speak French with me, I assume they had trouble understanding my Americanized/broken French so they’d just be like “it’s okay. I know English! let’s just speak in English!” so I rarely got to practice with actual French people (other than my teacher) 😞

As someone who loves the OG Gossip Girl and didn’t watch the reboot, I’d love it if you react to it. Also, as a native French speaker, Rizzo your pronunciation is not bad but the way some people in the show speak French is a little off.
