I think ReviewBrah supports North Korea. He even had a music playlist with a song about Kim Il-sung on it. It is either he supports it or he's really interested in it. I hope it is that he supports it because I support the DPRK. EDIT: I made this comment three years ago when I was a cringe DPRK supporter. I no longer support North Korea. And in regards to the music playlist, it's no longer on his channel. Also, it was stupid of me to have suggested that ReviewBrah supports North Korea given how much he enjoys eating food. However, it is clear that he is interested in the country and is obviously not a fan of the sensationalism about North Korea in the media.

Usually when people visit countries like US, they dont film abuse, police brutality or inside of camp of drug addicts in central LA. In US journey vlogs you would see happy people, US landmarks, great food etc. Restricted zones are in every country in the world, in the west you can just get away with publishing more stuff, but still to some point, after that you can get legaly arrested or quietly silenced. Rebranding the war as the "Forgotten War" was such an effective and nefarious strategy, it makes it sound like it's not even really worth talking about but the more you learn about it the more you realize that it's just a lot more beneficial to America to intentionally forget we did that. And then the cherry on top is making sure the only thing Americans ever hear about the Korean War unless they feel compelled to look into it is "there were a bunch of American POWs we didn't get back."

They were reading out of a North Korean propaganda book, it's not what actually happened. Korea was never united under a socialist government. After Japan was defeated, the US and the USSR installed socialist/military governments in the North and South. The US even went to the UN and proposed that the Korean people should be able to choose their government but North Korea refused to participate. @@Boy_Boy hello. I have some genuine question. I've been trying to understand what's going on in the world, the horrible loss of human lives, killings even worse the people justifying taking other humans lives and so on.. it looks like never ends. What's troubling me is that I can not see things in any perspective other than 'good vs evil'. I came across some posts telling how horrible propaganda is in socialist counties and how disillusioned people from free countries trying to preach socialist countries as the good ones, some times I agree with one side other times I feel ostracised from majority because I feel for another side. Also, I believe people do what they think is right at that moment and definitely nobody has ill intent for their fellow men, so the strictness and authoritarianism handled by some countries maybe due to the things they experienced in past or to protect a collapse in future, but I don't know what my place in all this should be. If you read all this then you'd realise I'm confused about all this, but really want to learn about things and develop thinking abilities that help me take a stand without feeling like I'm wrong. Again, I'm stuck in this good vs evil binary narrative which makes me feel guilty for taking a stand at all. This can help me not only to understand political climate, but also to help me grow as a person to take firm decisions. I could've asked this to anyone, but I just came across this video and you seem to respond to many comments. I'm in my mid 20s, feeling somewhat lost about not having achieved a lot in this fast paced culture always celebrating about winning and succeeding in life, and I am not even sure if it's okay to ask you this ,but can give some advice about anything, and especially learning about politics like something unbiased book or any other resources? Anything will be helpful. Not just resources to learn, but also your opinion please. Thank you.

@@raw_dah I feel you. I think the conclusion I've reached to give myself closure on that sort of thing is that it's human nature to try to find patterns - that's how we've survived as a species. When it comes to complex social structures, though, the narrative of a binary to simplify and hence understand the social structure just fails. But people cling to it anyway. I think so long as you go forward questioning the things you read, you will be fine. Keep those things in mind, but don't let it turn into pessimism, as much as you can. There really are people out there like you who also want to see the world in a balanced way, and challenge their biases. I think the best way to challenge biases is to try to imagine you're on the "other side" of the discussion. In this video, boy boy talks a lot about "imagine what it's like living in north korea and ...", and that's the kind of approach you want to take. Question both sides' perspectives, though, and really ask yourself "is there any other reason things are seen this way?", or "are there any other explanations?". Nobody is infalliable, and if you realise you need to challenge views you've had in the past, you will almost always grow from doing so.
@DavidPumpernickel
@DavidPumpernickel 8 ай бұрын
@@raw_dah I just want to add - you say you feel lost in life not having achieved a lot. Success is measured in a lot of different ways, and I hope you achieve success in the ways which matter to you. In saying that, not many people are worried about the things you're worrying about; you've got a good head on your shoulders, I think, and you should feel some assurance in that.

@trentrubenacker9718
@trentrubenacker9718 4 жыл бұрын
Armies have artillery and air support and a combined arms doctrine that makes them well suited to fight other armies to destroy hard targets or hold territory. A deathsquad is like 40 guys, and like 5 of them have Aks and the other 35 have machetes and they're only really suited to wiping out civilians. Using an army as a deathsquad is stupidly innefficient because you didn't need to pack this much firepower for that village. Using a bunch of deathsqudas as an army is inneffective. The deathsquads would just lose the fight really quickly. The thing to point out is that America is both the largest funder of armies and the largest funder of deathsquads on the globe.

Also don't talk about western governments when your government rapes and kills people for fun you are literally under the rule of the Taliban. Unless you are a high ranking politician or an Olympic level sportsman, you're not allowed to leave the country. Just like us! Wait... It's important to see North Koreans as real people with real lives and real joys. Yes, what countries like the US do and get away with is horrifying and devastating, but "well they did a bad, too" does not excuse the desecration of fundamental human rights. This video is blatant propaganda washing over the very real and undeniable atrocities going on in that dictatorship. It's a disservice to the very brave people who have escaped and shared their stories. It's a disservice to those who died trying but were shot in the DMZ, or were otherwise executed for their attempts at freedom, and to the families of escapees who were tortured and murdered as a warning to dissuade others from escaping and risking the slaughter of their loved ones. Those stories are every bit as real, and more reliable (in my opinion) than the very curated tours that North Korea is willing to offer influencers who are willing to portray their regime in a positive light.

The difference is their horrible stories are true and come from the experience of being invaded and 10% of all Koreans massacred and every building larger than 2 stories destroyed and every dam broken, etc. America (and the broader "West") is the evil empire it projects others as.

@Poadiup

@@majesticturtle3828 I mean yeah the poverty in my American neighborhood isn't nothing to joke about either. May I also reduce the American experience down to its worst cases of poverty? But yes its truly a shame the American state cares little to help alleviate poverty anywhere let alone in NK. If it wasn't under constant military threat NK wouldn't have to militarize to such an extreme degree just to survive the slaughter of the Korean war. North Korea is just another place on this planet with its own geopolitical issues and history.
@Einygmar
@Einygmar 3 жыл бұрын
@@Poadiup North Korea is a "vassal state" of China. The country it is in war with doesn't have nukes or an isolationist totalitarian hereditary dictatorship instead it has Nuclear energy and one of the strongest economies. Considering its economic history its entire existence the way it is under the current regime is critically hard to justify beyond being China's geopolitical proxy of course.
@Poadiup
@Poadiup 3 жыл бұрын
@@Einygmar Yes and the south is a vassal state of the US... who it is also at war with. it was a brutal dictatorship for a while too until the cease fire and the south recovered with foreign capital investment. The US couldn't allow communism to spread and allow the Korean people the right to self determination and would repeat this same cycle of military violence against any people who reject American imperialism (Vietnam). Its also illegal to speak positively of the north in SK media so honestly bro I'm just asking you to question the things you think you believe because there's always another side to the story.
@Einygmar
@Einygmar 3 жыл бұрын
@@Poadiup SK is not a vassal state anymore it was for some time simillar to how Japan was but currently it is economically self sufficient and has one of the strongest economies. NK on the other hand gets the majority of its electricity supply from China and relies on russian grain supply. NK's regime has little to nothing in common with communism or with peoples right to self determination. It is a hereditary dictatirship with a centralized economy. My parents used to live in the USSR, probably the most "successful" of all Communist\socialist states of the time. Even there the life wasn't particullary good or free. You get what the government decides to give you because it thinks it's what you need due to the centralized planning nature of the economy. There's a tendency in communist\socialist-led states that all of the quality of life improvements are always related to the free market - oriented reforms and reintroduction of some forms of private ovnership of means of production as well as indtoduction of foreign capital. It happened with China during Deng Xiaoping, with Vietnam, Laos and Cuba and to the lesser extent with the USSR. The same thing is happening in NK because its original Juche based isolationist centralized economy starved a lot of people to death during the 90s and was only able to survive due to the extensive outside help. Even if its Its really illegal to speak positively of the north in SK media it is also impossible to say anything outside of what the party wants to say in NK media because there's no independent media at all. It's also illegal to smuggle anything from the south and the punishment is more severe compared to SK. It was like this in the USSR and currently is in NK.
