When I worked overnight downtown pike street in Seattle I experienced quiet a few interesting scenarios. At the time heroin was big. I saw multiple nights outside of our businesses cage people shooting heroin into their calves/legs. I even had one guy try and trade me a bag of black tar for two cigarette as he wanted to share with the source. I didn't see them as someone lower in society as I. I felt they were someone society had failed. I ended up meeting one dude named Leon who tried to play guitar for money or drugs. The dude dealt with sever mental problems and would proclaim he was a member of the CIA put on the streets to catch other people and he was temporarily disenfranchised to where he belonged. He carried a guitar and would play his latest songs for me. Many of the other homeless individuals would avoid him so he would try and chase them off if they bugged me during my overnight smoke breaks. After multiple situations where he helped me I tried to set up some support for him and the people he supported. I would give him a bit of money and random snacks I could get from work. After talking with the dude for awhile I realized a lot of what him and his crew were experiencing was mental illness I became much more sympathetic to what they were going through. I tried to point the guy in the right direction but ended up having to quit the job where I could talk to him. He randomly showed up closer to where I lived at the time and I tried to help him once more. What I gathered from the whole situation was that the current homeless shelters were inadequate for their needs. And despite the many conversation I had with the guy I wasn't helping. There needs to be some form of professional outlet for people in this situation. I hope they can get the help they need. Despite the outward appearance these are people. They need love just like anyone else. Despite what the guy gained from our conversations (which he said made him feel more heard in the world) I did not have the professional skills to help him. I don't know what else to say outside of I hope he is doing alright. I miss the dude and hope he has found peace.

Florida is completely ruined the housing market goes up 50k every month so houses are getting more and more unaffordable and then businesses jack up prices for everything and then they also say they dont have enough profit to pay workers so that makes more people jobless but how can they get a job when you need an address, online capabilities, and a proper phone number just to even have a company think of hiring you but here is the next issue no job or company wants to train anyone they want people already qualified even for flipping a burger you need qualifications so the housing, job, and essentials all the things you need to live is out of everyone’s grasp so you have to live with 3 people to not go in debt and the only way for an economy to subside and be back to a normal that is affordable things have to be cheapened down so the population can actually build enough money to survive but with the way the Florida governor bans stuff like being on the streets of Orlando past 11 is a crime now so they can just go around picking up every homeless guy to throw them in jail to criminalize people who we aren’t helping Florida has no laws that protect homeless and its sad to see the same people sit in the same spots for years even though they fought in wars to keep our country safe but when they return they have nothing to build from
