I feel like I sense of hope again for travel, that I can still pursue my dreams again one day and when things go bad don’t give up! I’m shocked Nate and Kara that you got fined for filming in Yellowstone. There’s are countless people who visit National Parks throughout the year, also when my family visited several breathtaking parks in Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona Nevada I was constantly photographing and taking videos. The Park Rangers not only encouraged us to take pictures, they told us where in the park had the most beautiful views to photograph.KZbin creators are actually a huge promoter of the park as well, because if you’ve never visited many National Parks in the United States these videos help tremendously. Thank you Nate and Kara for sharing your content with the world. Blessings and safe travels throughout all your adventures together ❤
@jimg6261 Жыл бұрын
The main difference is that when you, your family or the "countless people" you refer to are taking images, they are most likely not being used for commercial purposes or monetary gain. The Park Service has always encouraged that type of image gathering. Nate and Kara's channel is monetized and that's where they got into trouble and were fined. Nate does a great job of explaining this from about 3:30 to 8:00 in this video. I've also taken many images of beautiful sites that I've visited in federaly-managed park land and have posted them to my KZbin channel. My channel is not monetized and there is no commercial intent or purpose. So, no problem. If I wanted to make money off of those images and had not obtained the proper permit(s) before doing so, then I too would be subject to a fine. Granted, those rules do not work real well or fairly for many current "content creators" and were due the changes that came about as a result of the lawsuit brought by Mr. Price. There is still likely an appropriate place for the permiting process for SOME types of photo taking and video production done in the national parks but it appears that Judge Kollar-Kotelley did a good job with her ruling in distinguishing the difference between those types of productions and those that appear on this channel and the channels of many other content creators.

Guys I love hearing this! You guys are awesome and your videos only promote the beauty of our country! Nothing wrong with showing the world how proud we are of our country! You let others whos are not capable of traveling, the opportunity to see things that maybe they will not be able to see and whether you are making money out of it or not; it is a great thing! and WE ENJOY IT!

hopefully my comment helped make this decision to film there! My comment was one of the top ones from the abandoned mining town. I am planning on going on a one week trip this summer and vlogging my experience. I really want to get back to Slough Creek, Bunsen Peak, Avalanche Peak and also go into the canyon between the Tetons! Good to hear you guys can make money on the National parks. That opens up a lot of content!!! This was such a good episode. It reminds me of the old vlogs. Good job Kara and Nate. It feels fun and lively.

Kara and Nate, when you are in the state Montana I recommend that you stay in Columbia Falls and stay in this incredible Airbnb Treehouse all you have to do is put the filter "treehouse" and then two will come up and I recommend that you guys stay in the one called "Raven's Nest Treehouse"

There are many ways to see the sights of Yellowstone, but I like yours the best because it is a record of people having a good time rather than checking off points on a list of scenic outlooks. So I subbed and will be back for more. Just keep it real, and I'll be with you. p.s.due to age, disability, pets, and finances we are homebodies, so this is our way of seeing the world. To me, KZbin has opened up new worlds that I would never have experienced otherwise, and it is thanks to people like you who blaze a trail for those of us stuck at home to share some of the wonder of travel.

I really enjoyed this video and now I really want to realize my goal of visiting Yellowstone in the winter. I also wanted to say that I really appreciated your discussion of the fil permitting issue. So many people just want to rant about rules and regulations and hate on any ones that they find to be an inconvenience, but you gave a clear and level-headed account of the original rule, and the obvious problem with it w.r.t independent, low impact film makers. I also really liked that in reacting to the rule change, you still encouraged people to enjoy the change in a way that respects other park visitors and maximizes everyone's opportunity to make use of these beautiful public resources. Well done!
