It’s wild how different various EVs are when it comes to running “below zero”. Some cut off immediately, others will go another 20 miles

Would love to see a 55mph range test. I have a 150mi round trip daily commute (72mi each way) and I think this car could do it considering my entire commute is 55mph and less (city and back-road highways).

Like the car! Sherpa mode, as you mentioned, restricts top speed to 50mph and by default won’t switch on climate control, although this can be overridden. However, this mode is meant for creeping towards the next charger - think of it as a Last Resort mode. Thus, the more commonly used mode for getting best efficiency in daily real life is using Range mode (likely with less range available than with Sherpa mode, though).

Even the dearly departed Chevy Bolt got 250 miles of range with some old EV technology..... for less money 💰

Range doesn't matter much for these slow charging EVs 50 kW/85 kW charge rate, since they are not good road trippers. 145 miles at 70 mph is probably 175-200 miles for mixed driving, plenty for daily commuting.

@@GraysonA I've done about 500 miles highway driving in one day in our Bolt. That's about as much as I'd want to try, given the slow charging speed. It's not terrible; I relaxed, listened to music and read a book during the charging stops. Note: you'll probably go further, faster, by not pushing the speed too much. 60 to 65 mph is the sweet spot. What you gain from more speed, you lose in extra charge time. Going 70+ mph imposes a heavy drag penalty.

Dang that's actually fairly decent. Weird it doesnt give more warning at the end but I'm sure that can be resolved with some updates if customers are really getting into that very uncommon situation often.

It warned me a bunch. It just didn’t reduce power which every other EV does before it stops. They must be keeping a lot in reserve for battery maintenance or something. - Chad

@@EVPulse oh sorry yeah meant physical warning like pulling power. But you're right could be keeping a good bit. 3.9m/kwh doing 145 miles if correct means around 37kwh used, so could be leaving over 10% on the table to help with longevity of the pack or maintenance like you said.

You shouldn't use average speed reading to maintain 70. Losing time at your small trsffic jams doesn't warrant driving above 70 to fix. Remember power needed to overcome wind drag is proportional to velocity cubed. I'd drive that car at 60 mph

The extra cost of higher trims (3500 $) also brings leather seats and steering wheel, heated exterior mirrors as well as bose sound system.
