I didn't hear Disturbed's version until July of 2023. I just love it and I keep watching it over and over and enjoying watching others listening and chatting about it. When you put the Official Version with its video, it is just amazing how it fits together. It gives me goose bumps every time I listen. I am 78 and not a metal person, and I am thrilled that this came from a heavy metal band. This was right for our generation NOW, in 2023.

David has a great voice and was trained as a Hazzan (Jewish cantor) which allows him to bring a spiritual element to his performance that increases its emotional impact. Disturb will be touring with a band called Jinjer this year. You should react to their song called "Pisces".

It's called vibrato...David's is a Master with his instrument. When he goes big and starts frying his vocals, he is using a wet version to not damage his chords.. Fun fact, he has no tattoos in respect to his grandfather and the generations of Jewish Cantors that he comes from and that he also received his training from. He removes his piercings to go home. All the men in the band are good ones from all I hear. Simon said that the song was much his as David's now....what an epic compliment!

The polyphonic resonances in his voice are called 'vibrato.' He's a Jewish 'Hazzan' (a superbly trained singer): en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hazzan He was recovering from a respiratory infection during this performance. Personally, I prefer the studio version, partly because the video is so powerful.

Think you were talking about vibrato Jess....lol. Not many people realized he had such a beautiful voice until this song...when you could actually hear his voice...lol...as most of their songs are so aggressive. Draiman...one of the best male vocalists on the planet imho. He has a tone to his voice I've never heard before. When he sings....you know who it is. He can go from angelic head voice to rasp/distortion on a dime and back....not easy to do. Also did you notice he can put vibrato on the rasp too? VERY difficult to do. Love your take on it Mike and Jess.

When a singer wavers their voice like that, that's called vibrato... now, sometimes reverb and echo can be added to enhance it, but from the mouth, it's vibrato :)

Long comment incoming, sorry. If you haven't already you should see how the actual original version by Simon & Garfunkel compares to this version. I've often seen people say S&G's was a warning, and Disturbed's is the anger the warning wasn't listened too. In regards to Disturbed's version, I prefer the official video (studio) version, David sounds just as good (if not better), and there isn't any autotune. There wasn't meant to be any autotune in the live version, but because David had the flu at the time of the performance the producers had turned it on without permission, you can apparently see David looking over at them while it's happening at some moments. The fact he was able to perform that well even with the flu though is just amazing, I just feel the autotuned parts take away from how much better it would have been.

This has become a standard for the band, always expected at their live gigs! David and his brother were trained Jewish cantors. He turned to metal and his brother is an opera singer. Paul Simon said he wrote this after a dream and the meaning is still argued about. The video I feel talks of the rediscovery of lost music. One island find the sheet music, the other find the instruments and travel to them... Paul Simon saw THIS very performance on Conan and loved it. Poor David was really poorly with a bad cold when he sung it on Conan, so I urge you to watch the official video to hear David in top form and the visuals really add to the music. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJyag4mtaK5rm8k Check these interviews with David... kzbin.info/www/bejne/pKWxl6qlgKljjqM kzbin.info/www/bejne/baauiXuui550i8U David being interviewed and performing on stage The Vengeful One and Sound of Silence... kzbin.info/www/bejne/gKqZhYamq5t1gtU The official video... kzbin.info/www/bejne/q2qnmGCdbNllopY The original Simon and Garfunkel version... kzbin.info/www/bejne/hHKooaN8irx_nMU Fascinating that Pentatonix chose to cover Disturbed’s version rather than the original... kzbin.info/www/bejne/nZW5m4mqpddoa68 One of Disturbed’s classic tunes!!!! kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZmqvhYdmrdyXnNk

Please keep Dimash comments on Dimash videos friend. There are many reasons we don't upload multiple reactions in one video. #1 is copyright. It is hard enough dealing with copyright for one song, if we attach multiple songs to one video it causes even more problems. We are basically making content for free for all time at that point. #2 is time for us. As you can see we are not able to upload regularly. We only have enough time to do a few reactions when we do have time. Unless we make our channel dedicated to only Dimash reactions we just won't be able to do 2-3 in one video. That will be all our time to record going to one artist. There are 31k people subbed to this channel and a lot of them subbed for another artist besides Dimash. It is not fair to want us to only upload Dimash. We have to stick with what works for us.

We shouldn't need to respond to every person asking about 2-3 Dimash reactions per video. There were a lot of people asking us to do this and we addressed it many times. We addressed it in every Dimash Almaty reaction so far in multiple replies and we even talk about it at the beginning of both of our last two Dimash reactions. Thank you for understanding our view on this and the well wishes.

Nice reaction...but it would be great to see the video properly.
@RNTV Жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed the reaction. We do try new things often and here is are reasoning. 1 is copyright, this video was claimed and it took a full month to go through the dispute process. You never know what will flag the system, so it is better for us to try and do things like this. 2 is respect of the original artist or uploader. We aren't trying to offer a replacement to the original. This is a reaction. The focus is on that. We include a link to the original video in the description. We urge everyone to go and watch it if you want to see the full video in all its glory.

Have you done Pentatonix version?
@RNTV Жыл бұрын
@kimberlyrineer6822 Pentatonix's label seems to not care for reactors and don't respect fair use law. All of our reactions and our friends who do reactions to Pentatonix have been denied under fair use. We are not in this to become unpaid promoters for any artists. Even artists we love like Pentatonix. The most we've ever made from a reaction is just over $30. There isn't much money in this to keep a channel alive. When an artist's label denies our disputes that number drops to 0 and deters us from making reactions to them. We have tried talking to KZbin about this. We have consulted with copyright lawyers and confirmed our content clearly falls under fair use. We are working on a different reaction style for artists like Pentatonix. Those reactions would only include our reaction to a few key moments from the performance. Not sure how those will be recieved, but it is something we are going to try out.

What happened to your Nightwish reactions?
@RNTV Жыл бұрын
They will return. We perhaps opened the Nightwish door a little too early. The reaction door all together even 😅. We never expected to recieve over 1000 different requests in such a short time. We were getting a lot more heavier rock leading up to Jess giving birth. Jess wasn't really feeling that type of music was giving the baby good feelings. We decided to put a hold to the rock music for the time being. Now we have just been hit by life again and again as of late. We are trying to get back on our feet. It's definitely not because we don't love Nightwish.
