Dread/Explosher kits are even sadder when you realize the new Dread kit basically does everything VExplosher does. VExplosher: a bucket that can paint a lot of the map Dread: a bucket that paint a lot of the map VExplosher: Acts as an Anchor to give jumps to teammates Dread: Places Beakons to give jumps to teammates VExplosher: has Point Sensor to locate enemies VExplosher: has Inkstorm to deal chip damage to enemies Dread: has Wavebreaker to locate and *maybe* deal chip damage to enemies No matter what, one kit is gonna overshadow the other (I mean Cjet already did that to Explosher though, poor Explosher players)

​@@khaizuusit basically got powercrept by zooka and jet buffs, and less crab because of that means it's best matchup is way rarer. It's too slow and too weak rn.

@@khaizuus because you have no agency with it. When you use zooka, booyah bomb, inkjet etc it's on YOU to get value out of it. with wave breaker, if the enemy is good enough, it provides no value.

I'm not gonna lie, while I do think DWD is awful meta and comp wise, it was really really fun to play it with my friends, Comeback .3 subpu, 1.3 qr, and SJ .2 qsj .1 ss on that rainmaker rotation (Wahoo Marlin) was a lot of fun!!

Explo can easily pop jet from behind cover -which it likes being nearby by default iirc- and duelies haven’t gotten inkjet as a special yet, which the Douser Dualies could use to chase opponents down and as a way to get good damage. I also think its single roll could pair well with a Drop Roller build, which would be easier to run over Stealth Jump due to Inkjet.

The weapon kits feel so underwhelming. Why point sensor on glooga, something that cant paint? Why splashdown on explo and nautilus, something that doesn't go up in your face? What is this nintendo? Why you give weapons with potential nothing?

The worst part is that I would've genuinely excused certain kits taking this long if they'd held back the ones that would want the newer specials. Except that's clearly not what they've done, and I'm 100% expecting Hydra to get Splashdown and bamboo screen next season.

Yeah, I think Point Sensor is great, it pairs very well with Trizooka, and the weapon paints amazingly now. Go throw on some Special Charge Up and farm a Booyah or Zooka, you'll be shocked at how well it does it.

Like ok a lot of people say splash wall isn't the worst sub weapon the custom explo could get. But like.... what is the worst? Angle shooter? I think I would rather that to poke at chargers. Sprinkler? I kind of liked it in S2 and it would help explo farm more special (which would be cool if it had something other than splashdown...). Ink mine? That would do a better job at protecting explo from getting flanked than using splashdown as a panic button. Vanilla kit already got point sensor. Toxic mist would combo with the explo shots by slowing down opponents, making it more effective at trapping. Squid beakon might work well since its already a backline weapon. Might even help explo jump back into the action if it does die since it doesn't really jump otherwise. Everything else is a lethal bomb, a mobility tool, or both. Just because custom explo could potentially get some kind of small maybe value out of splash wall doesn't mean it isn't the worst sub it could get. Splash wall absolutely sucks here. I'm not done ranting. What I also hate about the custom explo kit is that even if we take the explosher itself out of the picture.... Splash wall and splashdown have like negative synergy. Ah yes, splash wall, the sub weapon to keep back dangerous threats, paired with splashdown, the in-your-face special. What's the gameplan with these 2? Throw a splash wall in front of you while you splash down? The splash wall won't even protect you anymore because your above it. Maybe throw a splash wall behind someone and hope it cuts off their escape as you splash down? Enough has been said about how bad splashdown is on explo. But in case it needs to be said again. Splashdown is prob the worst special custom explo could have gotten. And I at least believe splash wall is the worst sub it could have gotten. I cannot think of a worse kit. I'm mad.

Theres a good chance we don't get third kits but if Drizzle Season 2024 is happening then maybe. We're definitely getting the remaining second kits in Sizzle Season 2024 and I'm not sure if they confirmed Sizzle 2024 is the last season or if Drizzle 2024 is the last. I wouldn't hope for third kits though.

I think we are getting at least a few third kits: the fear for me is that they just immediately jump to sheldon's picks. The thing is that next season is expected to add a new stringer and a new splatana, and they can't add those new weapons and their second kit in the same update. They would need to do one more update for their second kits, and they can't just do an update with 2 kits and nothing else. I'm thinking we're definitely getting an anniversary update with the last two second kits, and with that we also get the first batch of third kits. But that could also very easily end up being the last batch of third kits unless they confirm more updates beyond that.
