I think it’s in reference to what Story of Seasons/Harvest Moon would do when it comes to the love interests. If you didn’t get with the character in a certain amount of time another npc could fall in love with them, hence rival marriage. In hindsight that does sound a strange 😅

hi!! rival marriages were a feature that used to be in harvest moon games. they were triggered by cutscenes you could get by befriending characters of the same gender which would cause them to get married to one of your marriage options. the reason it's called a rival marriage is because if you end up viewing all the cutscenes and the characters get married, you are unable to marry the character of the opposite gender in the rival pair. so basically, you'd be competing with the character of the same gender to marry your bachelor/bachelorette of choice.

Here’s my idea for a fan made animal crossing game. The setting: You would play as the city builder and designer for a new town. You would be on a peninsula surround by ocean on 3 sides, the map would be 7x7 acres, on the peninsula there would be many miniature biomes, like a cliffy, rocky section, or a forest with cool mushrooms, biomes could have different grass colors or tree types. POIs One side of the peninsula would not have an ocean, this could be randomized when you pick the map at the start, much like how the river mouths are in acnh. You could go to a sort of empty flat area through this connection which would function much like the Main Street in new leaf, however, you could get to build the whole thing yourself. You could pick from designs for the nook shop and place it in that area where you would like, pave paths, and put lamps and benches, the main peninsula part of the map would be for the villager houses and maybe some smaller buildings like a fishing hut where cj could work at and tell you about where to get certain fish, maybe some small restaurants. I imagine that you could design your own facilities to put around the peninsula, much like you would in HHD or HHP. This is the main way you would earn bells to pay off your house. We could have more shops, like we could have the nook store (nooks cranny, nookling junction, ect.) the able sisters, the museum, maybe kicks and shampoodle could come back, maybe Sahara could set up a rug, floor, and wallpaper store called “The Oasis”. You could put all these wherever you want as long as it’s in the designated Main Street area. If anyone wants to come up with a name for this hypothetical game, I would love to hear your suggestions. Edit: you would also likely be able to change the location of the river mouths and terraforming would carry over from new horizons oh, and golden tools don’t break, just because all of those features are like a necessity for a really good animal crossing game (not like the past games were bad or anything, but new horizons brought some great features like outdoor furniture.)

My favourite rumor I remember vividly from the GC days: If you wore the Hero's Tunic (from the eReader card) and decorated your house with a certain wallpaper/flooring, you could pull the sword out of the Master Sword furniture item. You could then use it in rocks to reveal a hole to visit Resetti. Turns out it was fake and used screenshots from Doubutsu no Mori e+ (a.k.a. Another point about Animal Crossing 2: I heard a while back that originally they were planning to port AC on the gamecube to the DS, but it was scrapped early on in development and the switched gears to just making a whole new game. Since there were already 3 versions of the first game, another release wouldn't be too far fetched, but it's also possible they were just testing running AC E+ / PG on the DS to see how an AC on DS would be able to perform. I believe the source I had seen this from showed test builds of some version of the first game running on DS (perhaps it was from some Spaceworld showcase?)

I would like if you could narrow down what villager you were after. Say when you build those first houses instead of key diy maybe have it like a mini HHP thing and the style you pick is linked to different villager categories. If you get a new plot and instead of auto filling. Tom Nook would also have you fill out an advertisement for that plot that could choose what category you want. Or even maybe what animal type. So even if it auto fills you can still get each villiger category or have a better chance to get the villiger you really want.

Did You Know Gaming actually found out more about "Animal Crossing 2" and you're right, the Famitsu listing was for e+. The two screenshots that circulated as "proof" were also actually both from Nintendo's website, but they were from the original JPN Gamecube game. You can hear more about it in DYKG's video from two years back called "LOST Nintendo Games." Anyway, I do think we're going to see at least an announcement for the next AC game as early as next year. The team that develops AC also develop Splatoon, and Splatoon 3's life cycle is wrapping up now, which means they're moving on to their next game. NH was announced about a year after Splatoon 2's Finalfest (which marks the end of its lifecycle), and Splatoon 3 was announced about a year after NH's release. So, if nothing else, we'll certainly see the team's next project... Whether or not it'll be AC remains to be seen, but I'd bet good money on it.

Personally, i think bettering the friendship mechanic would be better than straight up marrying your favorite villager. @emrickazor2610 Yes! Have the mechanic actually mean something besides getting a photo. Ever since NL I've wished the mechanic dictated how villagers speak with you. Neutral is getting to know you by asking questions and what not, negative is when villagers get a bit more hostile or if at max just try and avoid you, and positive is where they will say more about themselves, give gifts, have sleep overs, and more things. It'd be way easier for them to have the villagers behave and speak differently depending on the friendship level. And it would add variety to players without the need of making each villager unique (cuz there's too many. It would need to be a massive cut to give each villager their own back story and dialogue. There's like over 100 of them now right?)

My brother who works at Nintendo, trust me on this, told me the next Animal Crossing game is going to be a Zelda Animal Crossing, where you can make your own OC based on Hylians, Gorons, Zoras, and Gerudo and live in a village ran by Tingle and it's inhibited by popular Zelda enemies that are friendly. Ganondorf, Zelda, and Link are also possible villagers.

I do somewhat like the ideas brought up with "Animal Crossing New Leaf 2" but i feel they should be tweaked, i think it would be cool if Villagers had more in depth relationships with other Villagers (wheter platonic or romantic) and the idea of children existing (only Villagers of the same species and opposite genders could have kids, vilagers in either cross species or same gender relationships could possibly adopt) but the main problem with those ideas is the sheer amount of villagers that exist, which would require an unthinkable amount of extra bits of dialogue and new characters that would be mixes of pre existing ones that would need their own personalities and dialogue

That evil villager rumor, just reminds me of the "Herobrine" hoax of Minecraft. Which had many horror-themed rumors about him. It spread so far and was believed by many, to the point for a long time Mojang, before getting bought by Microsoft, would play around with that hoax via Minecraft updates patch notes, always putting in "removed Herobrine" as a nod to that hoax, even though he was never in Minecraft to begin with EDIT: I wrote this comment before I heard you mention Herobrine. My idea for the next ac game is that you arrive at an island resort with kappns ferry, and at night, digby is the concierge at the hotel, and Isabelle is the day concierge, they think that you would make a good concierge, then you go find a room with help by tom nook, he asks you what style of room you want and you choose, then there are 20 villagers in this resort that rotate every 2 weeks, and you have to make the resort more popular.

Dream Animal Crossing Idea: Let people be a anthropomorphic animal villager species, optional not forced, but it would be cool to make myself a cat for example with custom parts and custom design like maybe having wings and a nekomata Y shaped tail but also other custom parts like a crystal horn and a mane with different hair types for any animal species but I would like hedgehogish spiky hair for my divine feline… would be lemonade yellow with black fingerless gloves and toeless knee sock markings, etc, won’t get more into detail, but it would be cool to play as an anthropomorphic animal as people make fan villagers all the time so this kinda feature would be cool as I hate playing as a human in a village full of anthropomorphic animals as I feel too different and just want one day to play myself in game… Don’t take me wrong as Animal Crossing is a favourite game series of mine but I kinda just want to play as something closer to myself… Oh and yes my dream idea would have all species in game for the customisable anthropomorphic animal character idea so yes special species would be included in that dream idea.. Maybe have new villagers species from the special ones like foxes, tanuki, and hedgehogs as well as new ones like bats and sharks could be cool… maybe sea horses too? And bee, moth, dragonfly, and butterfly villagers as bug villagers would be a cool idea I think! I’ve seen fennec fox fan villagers too for another cool new villager type! Its sad to admit, but i believe rather than a new game they will probs just update or work on the current game as its still missing bits. They will probs wanna revive the already well loved game? Either way i know when the new console comes out I’ll probably just use the acnh copy i have to start a new island without loosing all of my history. the first one is definitely more harvest moon/story of seasons with an animal crossing theme which would work if 1. it wasnt called animal crossing 2. they were actual people, so its got half of it right + it definitely makes it feel less bizarre when you have that context lol
