They changed the name of Repost by Soundcloud to Soundcloud for Artists in the last couple of months. A couple of months ago, their system was so clunky, if you put a track up, it would never show on it. You had to contact them and maybe like a week later, they would respond. I almost agree with the fat part, other than their support is thin. There is still also a Repost Exchange, that is separate.

Before watching this I quickly wanted to add to anybody using soundcloud: it’s totally fair to post and have things up for portfolio purposes, but never expect to get any reach from sound cloud, ever. A KZbin short gets me more views than my entire soundcloud would get in a year, in under a day lol. It’s just not a good place to share music anymore, no casual listener uses soundcloud anymore 😕

Reading about the struggles of actual musicians are interesting. I mean, I have a soundcloud account where I post my stuff (which, if you are being very charitable, could perhaps be called outsider music. It is not though, it is just something that I stick together that vaguely resembles music), but I just do that for fun. I sometimes publish demos for friends of mine on the same soundcloud. I guess that the objectively best thing there is a black metal demo which features former Taake member C. Corax as well as another friend of mine. Anyways, that is besides the point. I never expect to be able to monetize my Soundcloud, so I never signed any deals for that purpose. I am considering getting a distrokid account for the stuff that is actually good, but most of that involves stuff made by friends, ie. by other people than me. But the reason I am considering that is that it would be fun to get it on Spotify and such. Once again, I am not a person that makes music for a living, so I have no problems considering Spotify as a fun thing to stick my stuff on...

So many bots, ngl I never really listened to music on there, when people send me stuff yeah, but I never used it as my main music service. At this poijt I think its just for smaller acts, and producers to share their stuff faster. I had repost when I accidently paid for a year subscription to soundcloud. I monetized everything for shits and giggles after I discovered it. LMAO but it ended a little while ago, so I'm gonna stick with distrokid.

To summarize, they wrongly striked 3 of my own songs. 2 were beats - one was completely originally and in no way, shape or form, contained the sample they accused it of. The other beat contained a sample, maybe it was under fair use and maybe not, I'll give them that. And the last one was a song I made with a free for profit beat 😂😂 I proved extensively that the sample they claimed to the first beat (some chakra mantra thing) wasn't in the beat. And I also proved that the beat for my song was free for profit and that the person who it was claimed with was using the same free for profit beat. All in email, all with links and timestamps and my own project. But it didn't budge anything, i lost a small income stream of 40 a month, nothing big i guess.

Probably someone else has already used the 'free for profit' beat and monetized it, making it no longer free. You won't get anywhere trying to prove you haven't used samples. Before you release stuff you want to be checking it with Shazam, Google etc - if it doesn't find a match you're probably good.

@@f1gridlock yes, someone else did use the same free for profit beat before me. and monetized it. it is what it is, idk why that would only apply to the first person instead of a creative commons, personally, i definitely have to research more intellectual property business. As for the false sample , it quite literally had no similarity - tone, resonance, anything in relation to my beat at all, whatsoever, full stop, shazam would not link them. that one was just soundclouds faulty ai copyright detection. its funny cus the beat had a super mario "lets a gooo" and i thought it was nintendo until i saw what it really was some mantra hz video 😭

I never heard of repost, but I loved soundcloud, I had many songs I uploaded then after not paying for pro they hide my music. Also it's 14.99 a month, vs distro kids 30$ a year, I actually still get change from distrokid, but with thousands of plays on SC I haven't received a single penny. I am the clown 🤡
