Complete remove and replace of burners and flavorizer bars on my 1997 Weber model 900. Old Weber bbq's rarely are beyond repair. Mine is 18 years old and needed very little TLC to bring it back to like new condition. My total repair cost was $65 Canadian and a new similar BBQ would have cost me $700.

Ha, thanks but not much experience other than life experience and the desire to keep what is quality craftsmanship out of the dump. I am pleased that this helped you out in any way😊

Just received a new cook box and burner tubes and flavorizer bars for my 1996 Weber 900. Thank you for an outstanding video! Your narration and video is top notch!! And that side table you made 🏒 is awesome! These old grills are definitely worth repairing

That's for sure. I have a '94 too. Just keep propping it up a little and it does great.

I have come to realize after 20 something years that the cast grates maybe should be flipped so the flat is up. I have been using with the flat up for 2 years now and I have to say that I get much better sear marks and the heat seems to be distributed better.

Just got new burners today after a small fire underneath one of the control knobs. Everything i read said it was probably clogged burners. I guess I'll see. Nice video

Thanks for this very helpful video. I too am resurrecting this Weber Genesis 1000 grill. They just don't make them like this anymore, and they are like Fords, you can always find parts for them.

thank you, it was easy to understand and so glad to have a near-new grill with replacement parts. The most difficult was getting the old bars out, but you made sense of what needed to be done! I love grilled meats, but didn't want to spend a fortune buying a new grill so this worked out very well.

Weber makes it easy!! best BBQ's in my opinion. Don't overthink it and you will get it done in under an hour. You may want to give it a good clean while the burner tubes and flavor bars are out of the way. Cheers!

Love the hockey sticks! I had a few Sherwoods back in the 1800s when my gut was nonexistent and my knees weren't shot. Anyway, just picked up one of these grills used for next to nothing. This weekend I'll be doing the same to mine! Go Hawks!

Ha, Thanks,, these graphite sticks are a lot of work to size up due to the shaft tapers... Getting hard to find old woody's nowadays but I will find some and utilize them as needed!!!Jonathan Toews is a rock star IMO.. Go Flames...Haha... Enjoy your Weber, I recently bought a spirit for camp but I sure like the 3 burner model better!! Cheers

@@mybobbleheads Flames! Oh how I hated Mike Veronon! 😂Graphite! Wow! I had one that was very expensive towards the end of my playing, maybe 100 bucks or so but it had no flex whatsoever. I can't even remember the brand but I went through a lot of lumber. Koho, VIC and Sherwoods but my favorites were the Canadien. Whatever model they were seemed so much lighter that everything else. Anyway I love that idea on the grill. I have 4 Hawks jerseys, a Larmer, Belfour, number 24 Bob Probert 5 minutes for fighting at 13:33 and the only one that still fits #19 Johnny Toews. It's driving us crazy up here wondering what's wrong with him. Getting kinda scary at this point. I really hope he's able to play again. The Hawks are doing better than I thought they would but it's weird without the ships captain. Anyway went to fire up the new/old grill with new flavor bars, grates and igniter only to notice the little side pipe between the burners is cracked. So I have all new burners coming on Sunday. Hopefully it's as easy as it looks. I'm a charcoal guy, and I always will be but firing up a whole charcoal grill to cook a couple steaks for 3 or 4 minutes gets old. And wasteful. I plan on using this for quick stuff like that. For how old it probably is it's still in great shape. Nothing lasts like a weber!

@@JAYZIGGY5 I love it,, The old Canadian wood stick that I remember has a sort of white fiberglass running up the entire shaft and even on the bottom of the blade (good for road hockey).. my oldest stick right now is an Easton aluminum, it's got so many dents in it and is no longer red but a pinkish color... I will die with that in my stick rack

the first two screws on the left side of the burnerare not supposed to be unscrewedhas the burner tubes are supposed to be slid out to theright side

Ha. I did clarify that in the video however I don't think removing the screws will cause any issues for anyone as they are screws that have threads so you can just thread them back in as needed but thanks for clarifying as I was just following the instructions given with the tubes. Having to do it again I would still remove the screw to allow proper cleaning and also inspecting of the screw and replacing if needed.

I've noticed that the middle bar had the jets coming out of the sides on the original and the replacement has the bar rotated 90° where jets pointing upward. I don't imagine in that configuration the bottom is getting ignited. I think it was a design flaw on the reproduction piece.

the replacement center works and lights just fine. I assume it cut down on the cost and the center may not distribute heat as well as the original but I personally have not seen a difference besides the flavorizing bars spread the heat out pretty good. My other webber bbq only has a front and back bar so this is miles ahead of that. I usually start with all three bars lit and then turn the center bar off and move the food to the middle after a few minutes of searing anyway.

I have the same grill. After 20 years of burning, I replaced the flavor bars and burner tubes. The center burner tube is different than the original. The flame holes of the original are on the sides of the tube. The burner holes of the replacement are on top of the tube. The old tubes never clogged. The new center tube frequently clogs because debris settles on top of the tube. This a a big problem for me.
@mybobbleheads
@mybobbleheads 3 жыл бұрын
I agree, my replacement aftermarket tubes also came with the holes facing up on the center burner...However in my case it's not a big issue as I rarely use the center burner except to preheat or sear and the flavorizer bars seem to have prevented any issues for me... The old center tube did however provide a more even heat when the grill was crowded. Maybe the original type is still available through Weber

I have had one of these grills since the early 90s. I still use it quite regularly - several times a week, as a matter of fact. I need to replace the burner tubes but since I cannot locate the serial number on the unit, I am having a difficult time confirming that I am ordering the correct parts. Would you be able and willing to provide me with part number(s) for the tube set, please? BTW, those stainless grill racks are amazing! Love your channel! Thanks!

Thanks, did you notice that I changed from wood tables to hockey sticks half way through the video? I tried to use the same screws that were holding the sticks but they would not bite into the composite so I used some silicone. Toughest part is finding sticks with consistent size. I have since re-applied them with less gap between each stick. I would love to find some old wood ones.

If it is propane, turn off propane tank, disconnect and reconnect the propane hose and now turn the propane on the take on VERY SLOW. most tanks have a safety that shut down if they detect propane flowing to fast. Another possibility is the burner tube holes may have incorrect size
