By far, the most helpful video on the internet to prep for my first solo wedding film. And I was able to capture alllll and more than I wanted. I did modify it (only because I was able to) I added a gopro hero 7 hidden in the arbor. It captured the whole ceremony in case I missed something and I got decent audio out of it. Craig, big thank you for this (and all of your other videos I have been watching.) I was able to shoot with confidence last weekend.

I've been out of the wedding scene since the early 80's, when I shot stills on film. But I've just been picked up by a still photographer as his second shooter for video and have my first wedding in two days. I needed to get my head back in the game and be prepared for every possible scenario as a single shooter. I've gotten so much out of your channel this past week. You've helped fill in so many gaps and provided immeasurable knowledge and inspiration for me. I felt compelled to write and thank you for it. I've subbed you on my other channel, which I check more frequently. Many thanks and best regards. :)

Awesome... My team and I are dissecting this video and making it work for our situation here in Ghana. Weddings can get quite chaotic here, especially with "cellphone shooters" boldly walking up to block your view and crowd the stage/front.... And they wont leave whether ask them nicely or forcibly. They are sometimes very close relatives of the couple. Siblings, aunties and even parents... But I am glad at least we can learn from the positioning and lens selections at every point.

Can you make a video where you explain the pre-production of a wedding shoot? For example, talking to the clients, then talking to the event coordinator, and knowing if you can move around in the church while the ceremony is on going

Thank you for that video. However, I still have a question, you mentioned in one of your videos that you make a couple of videos, one is pretty much the highlights of the wedding, 6-7 minutes video, and then you also make an extended version for relatives who couldn't make it. Can you explain or maybe make an episode explaining what do you have in an extended video version? Thanks.

Very helpful, Thank you! wish I stumbled upon this a couple days ago, shot my first wedding for a friend. Still turned out good, but I'm definitely coming back to this for reference! I think one thing I would add to this would be 2-way radios with earpieces so you can verbally communicate with multiple shooters, granted that you can pull it off. I'll try it out! haha Thank again.

Thanks for the tips, especially the solo tips. I'm going to shoot solo for my girl's cousin wedding. It will be most likely just a highlight video because I don't have proper equipment like a microphone. The reason they want me to shoot their video because they liked the work I've done before. Photography & Videography isn't my profession at all, I just like shooting and editing stuff together. But they like what I did before but It's pretty basic as hell lol but it does show the important things like walking down the isle, ring exchange, vows and kiss. But I'll now try to get some guest reactions too and really walking around the ceremony thanks to your tips. It's going to be nuts but I'm ready. It'll be in Hawaii, I think outdoors, not sure but I'm ready. Thanks!

This information is great. I have been shooting weddings for awhile but I work with a photographer that has his own video and photography co. but I shoot the weddings. I always find out things at the last minute an hour before the wedding. Sometimes the setup is so odd and the bride and grooms backs are facing the crowd. I normally do over the shoulder shot from the officiant and hop back and forth. What would you recommend in that situation or tight spaces odd setups? Somehow I make it work but it could be better.

Wedding Film School ;) Here here! Apart from my lack of trust for other shooters, I guess my fear is losing creative control. Even if the final product ends up great, I can't be proud of it because it doesn't represent 'me'. Selfish, I know. That's something I'll just have to either get over or remain a small operation for small weddings.

Jake Szetela hey! I was a rush... I went to the rehearsal, (two nights before the wedding) this helped to familiarize with the place I seen where I have to be when the real weddding started. ( the day of the wedding) things where abit faster than I thought. however the video came out great! I did have a small scene with unessesary zooming but other than that I believe that video came out okay. ( I used a( canon T5 with tripod) I used one personal mike (zoom 1) and a (gopro 4 with tripod) go pro was only used to record the back of the bride as she walked in. and to get reactions from mom to father in laws. alot to explaing. everything came out great. it's easyer than I thought . also watching this videos in this Adams channel (filmschool) helped alot. The rehelsal. that was easyer. u can predict when thing will happen. I did interviews of all the important family members and the. just finished with recording most of the traditional stuff that happens in wedding. I finished with and interview of the groom and bride. I asked them what they want to say to each other (ten years from now). It came out great. alot of editing though. (sorry I talk alot/write alot) FORGIVE MY MISSPELLINGS I hope this helps abit... Thank you for asking.

Wedding Film School OK, so did the first wedding on the weekend. A lot of lessons learnt, the main one being that I need to be able to react quicker when things don't happen as planned/expected. I had two cameras and lighting setup for the speeches when they started on the opposite side of the venue. And the reception was seriously lowlight (my fresnel hadn't arrived) and shooting at 1.4 was serious admin lol.

Wedding Film School The major issue with a typical Nigerian wedding is time, location and poor organization factor Time: you have little or no time to get all reasonable details you want dew to the way our weddings are conducted. the sequence of event are as follows dressing up 2hr immediately followed by the church ceremony which will last for about 2-3hrs followed by 10-15min for photographs which is immediately followed by the wedding reception with will last for about 3-4 hrs Location-You get to a client house with VERY poor lighting little or no natural light coming in so you are forced to use artificial video light and crank you iso up considering you are exposing for a dark skinned person and the same with follows with the church and reception venue Poor Organization- Most times multiple photographers and cinematographers are present and you will probably be the only one using a dslr while others are using a regular video cam ... i believe you can imagine what will happen to you...PLS send me your email

Thank you for the great info! My situation is usually this: I'm the primary shooter (volunteering at a friend's wedding) and I would enlist two more helpers. The helpers can do simple tasks such as manning stationary cameras and doing limited recomposing and making sure the footage continues to roll. I wouldn't count on them for running around doing slider or gimbal shots. I would probably have to modify your 3-person-team scenario and combine it with elements from 1- or 2-person-team. Do you have any suggestions or tips?

This helps a lot to visualize my next wedding, which I’m doing solo! :S I’m so nervous, but you kind a make me feel more ambitious. Not having a plan sucks, now that you explained it this way I can focus on getting the best show. Thank you so much!
