If you’ve relocated, do you feel at home in your new location? If so, how long did it take for you to feel that way?

I have. And the new home, the new experiences will be like an extension of what you had before. It's not a replacement. The moment you realize that, you will feel like home.

I call my first year in Spain my 'honeymoon year'. Your experience at that lovely wedding reminded me of it. I've been here more than 25 years and I speak Spanish fluently. I don't feel 100% at home yet, but I am happy. For me, that's enough.

I have an experience about two moving: - The first one was about chasing my career from my born city, from my friends and family to Moscow. - The second one was running away from not to be mobilized by the government to the no one needed war. And I noticed the distinct distinguish between these movings: - Before the first moving I gave myself at least one month "to say goodbye" - I walk dawn on the streets and join my favorite places every day unless I feel bored and filled with my city. - Unlike first one, the second moving was urgent, I had around 1,5 day to do some necessary things only. So, I didn't say goodbye Moscow. My psychologist said me that it's so reminded her the process about the losing of a relative - if you were not pass the process of grieving immediately after the losing, you would be going to grieve more time until you are cope with it, passing all of stages of long grieving. Every time it's so difficult to explain my friends in Russia about my feelings now. However, when I watch some of your video Hadar, I want to say thank you, because you are trying to explain me what I feel 🥰

I've never moved to other places, I was born in Extremadura and I keep living here, so I am not in your situation, but I'm glad you are happy in Barcelona. If I see you some time in one of your trips around Spain, I'll greet you and I'll show you my admiration.

About feeling at home, I think it depends on how tight are the ties with the original country and on how much you admire the new country you are in currently. I feel like I'm better person now, I'm in my best behavior, and I have better opportunities in this country than in the original one, so I don't want to live in anywhere else. I see my future here, with friends, integrating the community, searching for my space under the Sun, buying a house as my way, and I admire their vibe and their way of doing things here. However, my partner is talking about living in a third country, which I am able to do it, but I'm not that enthusiastic about there, either I am not sure if I'll see this third country as home for me. Maybe I'm facing it as temporary...

Yo soy de Mexico pero sé que en Barcelona existe una fiesta que se llama Sant Jordi, se celebra el 23 de abril. Saben algo sobre esta fiesta? Vi en un video que se regalan rosas rojas a las mujeres y libros a los hombres

Hadar, you pronounce Spanish 'R' like Spanish native speaker
@nuria37366 ай бұрын
You need to establish an EMOTIONAL LINK with Barcelona (with locals, with the land, with the city...). Until you do not find a way to emotionally link yourself to where you are, you will never have a sense of belolging, nor will your mind find a path to ''awaken'' the language question. The fact of you going to Portugal on holidays... stay in Spain!! (I apologize for the intensity of my message 🤣😂😂). By the way... idea for your videos about learning English: how important it is to have an ''emotional interest'' in a language to suceed learning it, and how the opposite (not likning yourself emotionally to it) can sabotage your mental energy towards this learning.
