People need to understand that all of that is unnecessary. Concentrate on the marriage, not the reception. You can get married in a nice dress in city hall, and have a small dinner at an inexpensive restaurant or even a backyard bbq.

We had a wedding in a garden with food we made - and had friends and family do flowers and photography. The wedding was beautiful, everyone felt they had a part in it (we even had croquet and horse shoe tossing for people to play - we knew they could do it even in suits and dresses). In the end we spent about $1500 and had a beautiful wedding that people really enjoyed. We’ve been married 30 years this year! You don’t have to spend $100,000 for a beautiful memorable wedding!

@@lostcontrol1981 That sounds so much like my wedding. I had it in my sisters backyard, my husband (now ex after 25 years). Did all the food and his Restaurant manager paid for the wine, beer and champagne. With our two day honeymoon in Mendocino our total came to 2,000.00. Wedding are so over the top these days. You can have absolutely beautiful wedding and not pay thousands of dollars.

Makes me even more pleased my husband and I got married at the courthouse! 25 yrs ago! He thought I wanted the big wedding, we could pay for it no problem. I said ‘heck no! I’m not wasting our money for one day to feed and liquor up people. We don’t need gifts, we’re set on that stuff.’ Plus, people would have to fly in from other states and countries. Forget it. I wore a beautiful ivory suit, he wore a suit and it was the perfect wedding! We took our parents to lunch and were home by 5p! Total cost $200. One sister’s wedding cost $85,000 in the early 90’s and they are divorced. It wasn’t all that fabulous either. Another, close to 125,000. Divorced before they hit the year mark! Yikes. Parents paid for those!

The only thing positive I can say about this wedding is at least they didn't ruin 2 homes. Seriously they have their priorities all messed up starting with the need to normalize and stabilize their household: son doesn't seem to listen/like stepfather which needs to be resolved before going forward. Neither one of these two are good at problem solving nor do they have the ambition to even try. They just do the same thing whenever they encounter a problem: look to someone else to solve it. I think that this wedding planner and heaven truly bless her meant well but she is just a long line of enablers and it would have been better to walk away from this situation.

@@SKC193 The churches as such don't pay taxes here either, but people belonging to certain religions/churches do. And with that money priests are paid and many services too that churches might offer. Church weddings here are free of charge (the ceremony) when one of the partners belongs to a church and therefore pays church tax. You then only pay for extras that don't necessarily come with the church, such as flowers, decorations, and certain musicians you want. If a couple can do without all that fuss the wedding itself might be costing them not much at all.

This is ridiculous. First off, if you’re both financially unstable why even get married in the first place. A courthouse wedding would have been the best route. On top of that, the least that the bride and groom could have done was been there early that day to help set up. I just got married and I picked up a second job to help pay for the wedding months before the damn thing and we were there to help set up a lot. It was gorgeous and best of all, we didn’t up an a financial hole afterwards. I hope they get hit with the bill after the show, and i also hope that this fake. Anyways, that’s my two cents.

all this fuss and palaver, we just had a church wedding, I made my own dress and flowers, and the food after in a local hall, didn't cost a massive amount, no wedding planner, any one with a car fit those without in theirs, my father in law took me in his Impala, it was the best day ever.

My wedding of 50 ppl at a lovely reception venue with fillet mignon on menu cost $1000.. . Back in 1980 😂 My dear Dad was unemployed and living in a shabby caravan, he got a loan and insisted on paying for his daughters wedding. Mind u, my husband's family were wealthy but didn't contribute a cent.

The kid nearly turned when called by him, smiled and then pretended to not be hearing anything. This was amazingly bad acting but also showing that it's not the kid but a show made for entertainment purpose. They're quite likely broke, but the kid had to concentrate to not listen to his stepfather. BTW, punishments like that are a very lovely sign of a parent who acted waaaay too late and without any idea of how parenting works at all.

I don't understand people getting married, when they can't afford to?? 🤔 I'd be doing my best to save a few years prior... Plus I definitely wouldn't be overspending... I'd budget everything, and still get the cheapest option. Plenty of nice things in charity shops and pound shops etc.. no need to go into debt for one day 🤷

They should have canceled the wedding 💒 til they could save enough money to pay everybody. They should feel embarrassed 😐I'm glad the wedding planner made them earn the money 💰 the bride & groom needed to pay their vendors. They were really blessed to have a planner who really stepped up. I hope they were able to pay her when the wedding was over.

She didn’t work all summer and we are supposed to be surprised and sad they cannot afford the wedding. How do you not plan ahead?? Wouldn’t you just delay or tone down the wedding?? How do you not know about the flowers?mrheyve tapped out their money, parents money and credit cards?? What kind of a start is that - in debt??? I think this is an odd show. It lacks a redeeming quality - the couple is hard to cheer for.

They probably should have waited until they had enough money saved up or just go to the courthouse. My fiancé and I both agree that when we get married it’s going to be a justice of the peace and a small bbq with our close family and we are saving the money that we would have spent for a honeymoon and to put into fixing up our house that we just bought. I don’t understand why some people put themselves in debt for one day. In the case of these people they are already in debt wayyy before the wedding so I guess it doesn’t matter to them. And when things get hard they just cry. That’s not going to solve anything.
