Good tip about the potential to hit rebar. I never even considered that.
@CoastalBendFishNinja11 сағат бұрын
So…you have a ton of holes to drill. What do you do if you hit rebar but already have a bunch of anchors already in place? You can’t move them all. Drill another mounting hole through the gazebo to move over?

Danny, great video, how would I anchor my gazebo that's going to be on patio pavors?
@dannyjohnsonsgarage2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, according to what I have read it is not possible. “Pavers are held in place by gravity and each other. They are not cemented together, so you cannot anchor something like a gazebo, pool cover or railing by screwing it into a paver. Too much force and the paver will lift out of place.” You may need to pour footings for where the Legs go
@alexislobo20102 жыл бұрын
@@dannyjohnsonsgarage I purchased this exact gazebo, but I bought it used a family member no longer wanted it. I'll be using your video as reference because unfortunately the manual is no longer available. Do you happen to know how far apart the corner bolts have to be?
@clintmurdock1193 ай бұрын
for anyone else with the same question, you remove some and use footers in the ground.
@heinzpilotАй бұрын
Actually you can do this without a hammer drill it just takes more force. But the hammer drill is the way to go.

What is the wedge anchor made of ? What kind of material.

Thanks Danny. In video you mentioned couple of times to not drill too deep in the concrete to the sand under slab. So the drill bit was taped. What is the reason and what if the slab is uneven? With pole Hardware kit I got 6” long anchors but my patio may be around 4”.
@dannyjohnsonsgarage Жыл бұрын
Yeah, you’ll want to do as shown in the video. If you go down deeper than the slab, the bottom of the bolt that expands won’t expand into the cement, it would expand into the dirt. It would probably still hold and not come back up, but you want the expansion of the bolt to be firm. That’s why I drilled down so the bolt goes into the concrete on expansion

can they be removed ..incase one day you would like take down the gazebo ?

How do you know how deep to go? Looks like you went deep enough to end of your concrete no?
@jamesa62722 ай бұрын
Danny usually my questions are about mustangs lol. I’m planning on using these for a project. I bought a few of these anchors and a concrete block. Drilling the hole with the specified sized drill bit was easy. When I put the anchor in and tightened it down it just turned and wouldn’t grab the concrete. Did you ever encounter that problems using the wedge anchors?
@dannyjohnsonsgarage2 ай бұрын
It depends on the anchor style. If it’s spinning, it hasn’t expanded when you pounded it down, or it was suppose to go beneath the concrete. Most likely the hole drilled was too large so a bigger diameter anchor is needed

@dannyjohnsonsgarage5 ай бұрын
I would say 2 or more, but if you have tornados in your area use 4 lol. Do what you feel is best. There are spots for 4 but my fear was to compromise the concrete and have it crack.

I'm looking to do the same with our gazebo, but the 3 3/4" anchors are too long. Could I simply use the 2 1/4" so that they don't have to be cut? I don't have an angle grinder and I couldn't find the 3" anchors.
@dannyjohnsonsgarage3 жыл бұрын
Yes, just use shorter ones. They can be purchased individually so you can try one before buying them all

You can use a hacksaw, cheap at the big box stores and just make sure it is equipped with a metal cutting blade, not wood. It cuts right through.

What if the nut is not getting too tight. Is this normal?
@dannyjohnsonsgarage Жыл бұрын
Make sure it does not cross threading, especially if you had to cut it off for size. It is best to put the nut on first and make sure it spins freely, then pound it in so that the nut doesn’t have to go over bent threads

@Danny Johnson’s Garage I think my problem is I used these Milwaukee carbide hammer bits and the tip is wider than the shaft so it made the whole slightly larger. It wasn't hard hammering them down.

Here is another fun fact. Use a 3/16 masonry bit, drill a hole in the flange, 2x4 etc, insert a piece of 16 gauge annealed wire about 4 to 5 inches long and drive a 16d common nail into the hole. Inexpensive and strong.

How far from the edge can we drill holes in concrete.
@dannyjohnsonsgarage2 жыл бұрын
I would stay a good 4 inches away from the corner. It depends on the size of the hole, but you probably want to be 4x the size of the hole away from the edge at minimum
