OK, let's see what doped Armstrong and cry baby Hincapie have to say about Tadej Pogacar this time around. They've been pounding down and "spitting" on Tadej from day one. All the European podcasts were amazed by Pogacars performance...also nice words for Jonas and Remco....except WEDU - THE MOVE...especially Amrmstrong and cry baby Hincapie. I must say that Johan Bruyneel and JB were great. Johan is my no.1 analyst and he knows so much about professional cycling. I don't know why he still keeps in the company of two assholes who are talking about politics in the sports of cycling instead of real racing...racing with your heart and soul and just wanting to be the best. We are in the year 2024, with new and young generations of cyclists, who think differently, race hard and mostly respect each other. Isn't that what sports is supposed to be about? Just asking.

Tadej Pogacar at the winner’s press conference: “There will always be doubts, for sure, because cycling was so much damaged in the past, before my time. In any sport, in any situation of life, if somebody is winning there’s always jealousy, there’s always haters. If you don’t have haters, then you’re not succeeding. There will always be someone who talks bad about someone." ... Lance and George, just sit back and think about what Tadej said, after backlashing him so many times.

It's also important to note what Johannessen said after one of the stages: how he wants to hate Jonas and Tadej but can't because they're such good guys and make cycling fun to watch. As far as I know, Lance was widely despised by most of the peloton in his time.

Jonas was visibly uncomfortable on his bike today in the TT, rocking and moving while Pogacar was like cast in concrete. Compare the TT last year, Jonas locked in his aerodynamic position, Pogacar struggling to keep his position. 2025 will hopefully be on a level playing field for both.

UAE found the key to the weaknesses of Pogacar: fueling, cooling and recovery. Pogacar lost the 2 Tours because of bad days, not because of his capacity, and those bad days were due to bad fueling and overheating. His recovery was not optimal either, now that UAE has invested in solving these problems, Pogacar will be hard to beat for the next 5 years, at least

I don't get why everyone now believes that this year's winner will be unbeatable, same like last year when everyone was thinking Jonas was too good in a 3-week race and wondered if Tadej would ever win the Tour again. For sure next year the competition will improve and it can go either ways.

Great show as always you guys do a great job. I followed wedu ever since the beginning and the very first ride with Lance in Texas we rode in a down pour. All the talk about the tour de France getting faster and guys getting stronger is so debatable , I say all this with the most respect for Johan. The first tour de France in I believe 1911 was over 3,500 miles ,now races are just barely over 2000 plus the riders back in the early years didn't have any support they had to bring their own food and mechanical issues were all done by themselves. The stages were also twice as long 200 mi a day and the roads were rough and gravel compared to what current riders ride on compared to the old beat up gravel roads early riders road on. In all honesty I think people should ask the question not could earlier tour de france riders compete with these new young guys but could these new young guys compete with the older riders in the 1900s. They were seriously strong mentally and physically they had no pampering and they cranked out more miles on tougher terrain and if you think about their times they were only maybe 9 mi 10 miles per hour slower than the current riders time averages with 14k bikes but when you take in consideration the terrain that they rode on the amount of miles they rode the pavement of the roads and having to fix everything themselves and not have great places to sleep and chefs to cook for them it seems to me it's all relative I almost honestly think earlier day riders would be much stronger and faster then some guys today even on the old bikes I don't personally get all the hype with the new bike technology the manufacturers keep coming up with. That's a whole other discussion and should be considered more further because there's many more crashes then ever in the last couple years with all the new disc brake and wheel technologies then in old days and even in lances days. All this technology and $14,000 bikes and if you look at the statistics most tour de Frances average speeds were faster then they are now in Lance's time even not even going back to 1912 except for jonas 2 years ago but there were a lot of downhill finishes so there's a lot of factors to consider in the fast average time of Jonas but I definitely wouldn't attribute it to the bike technology like the bike companies keep pushing to justify high prices. I love tech stuff but don't price the equipment so far out of reach that the average fan can't buy into the sport. I know Lance hates soccer but why do you think it's the biggest sport in the world, because all you need is a ball you can play iit anywhere in any country rich or poor.. bike companies should think about it if they want Americans to be competitive and for America to breed top cyclist to go over to Europe and kick butt.😊. www.quora.com/Could-Tour-de-France-winners-from-100-years-ago-compete-with-riders-today

Barely 2 min in and George starts in on Pogi. Come up for air George; there are smarter ways to express your bias. Jonas's crash, condition, and remarkable come-back gives you a well-packaged theme to repeatedly wax poetic about if you really need to distract from Pogi's win; I mean, it's perfectly natural (perhaps even warrented) and practically writes itself.

What a fantastic TT, it was amazing to see the Big 3 give everything they had left in their legs, they are the real gladiators of modern bike racing, chapeau to all gladiators. 👋👌🤛 This is the essence of racing, to use your passion to give your best. Bike racing gladiators allow their passion to take over them, but at the same time keep their stature under control. In this way, they can achieve a higher level of awareness and sharp focus, which ensures that they can achieve top results without losing control of their bike. It is very dangerous to go full throttle without first establishing a sharp focus, and without passion it simply cannot be achieved at the highest level. It's the same with car racing, the more the speed increases, the greater the attention and focus is, until you reach a point where psycho-dynamics awakens fears and sets a limit up to which the individual feels safe. But the best ones know how to go beyond this limit and at the same time maintain a sense of control and safety over the vehicle. This jump feels like an adrenaline jump into a new level of focused state of attention. I believe cyclists experience something similar in breakneck descents and again, you need a passion for this state of consciousness, because higher level of consciousness needs more energy and passion is pure energy. It was a fantastic TDF, it will be hard to go over next year, but whatever next TDF will offer, the race is simply bigger than anything!

That was a 'bat out of hell' descent by Pog. This despite him declaring in the previous stage's presser that he would take it more conservatively and avoid risks. Frankly, I was more nervous watching him than probably Pog himself. Overall, it has been a really good tour, even though the time differences may not indicate it. Pog regaining the crown he could not get his hands on the last two years and becoming the undisputed No 1 again, Jonas literally rising from the ashes and showing the biggest balls, Remco for proving that he can compete even on the longest and steepest climbs as well as all other support riders and staff, fans and viewers who make the Tour probably the third greatest sporting event on Earth after the Olympics and football World Cup. Without this kind of top level rivalry, cycling would be a boring sport. If it were not for Jonas, we would be talking about Pog as already being a 5 time Tour winner, which would certainly be extraordinary, but not very exciting. Thanks for the great coverage of all the stages, analysis and opinions (not all of which I agreed with, but that's ok).

Doesn't George know that Tadej and Remco only 1 yrs different? Tadej hasn't reached 27 yet. So just like Remco, Tadej can still improve. Which is scary. The problem with Remco, he is riding with what his power meter said. If you notice on the climb, he kept looking down. Every time he tried to follow Jonas or Tadej, he kept looking on his power meter. Jonas on the other hand, just push the pedal as hard as he can.

@@lulua1698 you might be right. However, the gap is so big right now that one wonders if even when Jonas gets back to 100%, he could outrun Pogi. Pogacar’s condition is hardly a constant. I believe there’s been a noticeable improvement, even considering he was that one who wasn’t at his 100% a year ago (nor his team was as strong as Jumbo’s either). Who knows…let’s hope both of them get to next year’s TDF at 100% and with comparatively strong teams (which is another very important factor).
