THEMOVE regulars Johan Bruyneel and Spencer Martin briefly break down Stage 4 of the Vuelta a España, which served up the first big GC showdown, before previewing the Vuelta's Stage 5, which serves up another hilly stage that could favor either a strong breakaway or produce another sprint finish. Listen in to see how the duo thinks the action will play out, who will come out on top, and which riders present the best betting value.

Fractured means broken so yes some parts of the vertebrae are broken. There are little wings called transverse or spinous processes that can break off without serious consequences except some weeks of pain. Other bits like the vertebral bodies that may disrupt spinal cord function if they are unstable resulting in paralysis in some cases.

Groves 11/10 with a little side e/w on Bittner at 14/1. If there is one stage he could win, today has to be the day. But Groves looks difficult to beat. Not even considering anything at massive odds. I know its the Vuelta and he usually goes well, but I thought Mas deserved a shout out, solid stuff, best he has ridden this season, even if he just sat on Roglic the last few km's. And Tiberi is The Sniper (poor cat), Roglic needs a new nickname like the Assassin or something.

Yes, Mas deserved a shoutout. He was never winning this, because he lacks the burst. But only him and Van Eetvelt could keep up with Roglic's pace. Other guys came back to the front later, because nobody attacked from the front group and they slowed down.

"Almeda couldn't match it [Roglic's pace]" except he finished with the same time and gained 3rd place bonus seconds. That's cool, keep pumping the favorite and ignoring the biggest threat to him. You guys also think Bora is the strongest team after this stage??? BTW: Sivikov rode like he was supporting Tadej, not to win the stage. Who do you think is playing Tadej in this one after today?

He did finish with the same time. But only Mas and Van Eetvelt could really keep up with Roglic's pace. The second group caught up with them later because nobody was willing to pull and there were no attacks, so they slowed down.

Great show, Johan nailed it as usual. If he stays upright, this Vuelta belongs to Roglic. Ayuso [not Ayuso, McNulty] and Mas haven't been able to stay with him when he's at his best. Almeida, McNulty and Yates are all leaders and aren't really committed to working together for just one, though they have strong helpers. Wout looks good for the green jersey.

What? McNulty literally said after the 1st stage that it was nice he won the stage but that he's there to work for Almeida and Yates. McNulty knows his place. He was never a leader on this Vuelta. As for Yates, it is pretty clear that he gets along with Almeida. Didn't you watch Tour de Suisse? Yates is already 1min50s behind Almeida. Almeida is the clear leader on the team now. The reason Almeida won't win La Vuelta isn't because his team won't work for him, they surely will. It's just that the only way he can make time on Roglic is on big long climbs, but not very steep. There aren't a tone of those on this year's route. The route profile is better suited for Roglic. Plus, Roglic is also a better rider overall than Almeida. And even if Almeida somehow makes time on Primoz, Roglic will destroy Almeida on the last stage which is an ITT.

@@AllMenMustServe Yes, but despite saying all the right things in interviews, UAE never seems to get the big result in the grand tours without Pogacar holding them together. Here, if Roglic crashes out of GC contention again, UAE has a great chance to win it all. But are you putting real money on that? We'll see.

Visma riding for Kuss now, if they were then they'd have had a few riders around Kuss bringing him to the front before the step 13% section. Even Cian Uijdtebrooks, the only other Visma rider in the front group wasn't riding for him, it seemed every man for himself. If the team were fully invested in Kuss even van Aert could have been there leading Kuss to the front just before the final steep climb, and he was relaxing and it easy. I don't know what is going on with Gesink, Kruisjswuijk, and Valter, especially the latter 2. I've seen them when for Jonas in the mountains so where are they? Having listened to Nathan van Hooydonck on the Eurosport coverage he doesn't seem to have any respect for Sepp at all, and I think it this goes on i can't see it well. Vingegaard wouldn't have won 2 TdF's without him, and I'm not sure he will again without him. I get what you say about Kuss when he was given the team lead before and it didn't go well, but does that mean he shouldn't get the full support of the team in this race? Had he had a team around him, say 2 or 3 teammates around him, he wouldn't have had to put so much in the catch up after being so far back going into the steep part of the climb I think he'd have potentially been up there with Landa. Lastly, and I'm not a huge Kuss fan, respect him but know he has his limitations, but he did win the Tour de Burgos, ok against lesser riders, but he still won it, so his form was pretty good coming this race, but he can't do anything his team being fully around him, which they blatantly aren't.

Yes, but he won that stage from the breakaway and as they mentioned, nobody is letting him, as the defending champion, get into a breakaway this year. That's what they meant by "that card's been played."

Can you guys please get JB Hager off of the beach somewhere and have him do this program instead of Spencer Martin. I tune in for Johan’s experience and insight. Spencer has little respect and deference to Johan and I can perceive a little courtesy laugh on behalf of Johan to tolerate Spencer. Spencer has a grip on the statistics but lacks chemistry as a commentator. He should provide the technical insight from the background. I love WEDU And it may sound harsh, but my man you’ve got to do better and I always wish you the best!

I'm confused as to where Lance and George are. I guess the Vuelta isn't important to them. I don't mind Spencer but I think he should push back if he doesn't agree with JB, he will have biasses to maybe fellow countrymen and teams. I found it odd in this video that JB didn't even mention that no one from Visma was even working for Kuss, not even Uijdtebrooks, who they did briefly mention and I thought should be for his team leader (don't even get me started on Kruisjswuijk and Valter). My impression from this video was that JB thinks that Kuss isn't good enough, but you look at the lines of Roglič and Almeida and they do have teammates around them to help them move up. No frost, except maybe Pog, can it on their own. Regardless of whether a rider thinks his team leader is good enough to win the race they should still be working hard for them and they're nowhere to be seen. I suspect we'll see them all tomorrow around Wout, is he the team leader? Have they instructed to team not to help Sepp to focus on Wout and that he has to do it all on his own, that's harsh I think.

@@ykell1392 Thanks for explaining this. Haven't been listening to them for that long, never seen Outcomes on the channel before, have seen Spencer and JB discussing races before, which I've found ok, even if Spencer isn't as knowledgeable that doesn't mean he doesn't have valid questions. I get this show it's more about betting but even with that it's a discussion of who will win. I'm just a little disappointed with some of the analysis, even from Johan who is the expert. I find his comments on Kuss odd, and I'm not a Visma fan and not American.

I have no problem with this type of presenter though I do prefer seeing Lance and George (and JB Hager). I wish they would do daily analysis on all the Grand Tours. I thought they did but apparently not.
