We will try and get the Weed Eater FB25 gas leaf blower running again. Will it run? Does it have any left to give us? We try and save power equipment when we can.

You seem a little too eager to tear it down.... I have the same unit and tried to start it yesterday after sitting for 4-5yrs... It did start and run, but not for long; dying at idle exactly like yours. It's always been easy to pull, I am sure compression is fine. (you could have done a compression test on it, also before tearing it completely down) These are nice little blowers that run very well and are super handy to use and easy to start. This one wasn't "plum wore out"... little blowers don't get half the use of backpacks, trimmers, chainsaws etc. Now i know i need to look into a carb kit or new carb. What I have learned is that these things Will Start after years sitting even with ethanol gas. So if anyone else sees this, any carb info would be helpful. Don't junk a machine that has tons of life left and is super handy to have 💁♂️

George, If you have watched many of my videos then you will see I will always try to repair something other than trash it. On these little blowers it is a matter of dollars. Since I can buy these very cheap and or free then it does not always make sense to repair one if it is more than a little worn. Thank you for your opinion and for watching.

No pressure testing of the lines/carb, should've replaced that rich ass, gummed up looking spark plug, never pulled the fuel filter from the tank. A lot of basic stuff missed for a unit that runs pretty good, simply(and obviously) needs the fuel system freshened up. If the piston and cylinder look fine from the exhaust port, why even assume it has low compression? We all know this cheaper stuff that doesn't need a lot of power(hedge trimmers, string trimmers, etc) have lots of "squish" in the cylinder. Just missed some really basic stuff that was the reason it didn't want to run, not lack of compression

Sam, Thank you for watching. I get this type of blowers free and not running often. This one I felt was not worth investing the parts into. Thank you for watching.

I enjoyed watching you work. You have a nice style and temper. I'm getting one of these tomorrow that won't start. Gotta find the carb kit, I guess.

Nice video, appreciate the tear down! Agreed with others though, you proved it could run (adequate compression) so likely a carb issue. Just ordered a new carb for mine, $12 on Ebay. Not sure I could have found a rebuild kit, one video here shows a diaphragm replacement (and primer bulb too), bet that would have fixed yours. Anyways, informative, Thanks!

ps -- totally realize you had / have your own criteria for deciding to scrap one. Any source for carb rebuild parts? Amazon maybe has a universal kit, but not sure would work here.

Ray, curious, are 2-strokes more dependent (than 4s) on "good-great compression" to run well? Ebay carb didn't quite fix mine (also didn't quite fit)@@RaymoreRepair

Nice video. I have this exact blower and I’ve gotten blisters on my fingers (on more than one occasion) from pullin’ that cord for hard starts. I tore mine all the way down and cleaned the buildup around the piton ring. Put it all back together and at least it starts.. when it wants to.

Could you have replaced the rings?
@RaymoreRepair Жыл бұрын
Really its a matter of money. I find these little blowers for free quite often so they are not worth putting money into. Rings probably could have saved it but then it would probably needed a carb or carb kit and so on. Thank you for watching.

Great informative video but no real mechanic uses channel locks on a spark plug !

I guess I must not be a real mechanic then judging by that point. Thank you for watching.
