Did this 3 times so far...worked like a charm. First couple times I didn't wind the coil enough...my bad. I just did it for a third time today because the tip of the spring broke and wouldn't wind. I improvised by bending it into shape again. So far so good. Thank you for paying it forward!

Nice clear video. It was easy to take apart...putting back together was chaos. The wire recoil spring popped out and I had to rewind it. Getting the cord wound and through the hole was a task, also. All this for a friend because the cord was not retracting all the way. In the future I think I would merely shorten the cord by about 6 inches. No assembly required. I wish I had another FB25 to use as a reference. Great video.

Thanks for the vid.. it motivated me to do the repair. For now i just took it apart and winded the cord back using the blower fins, I got to the spring housing but the cord was pulling back already, so i just put everything back and it worked! I will order the spring and complete the task later. Thanks

You should have been able to wind the spring a little tighter. Only if it breaks does it need replacement

If you mean the plastic retainers, they go on either side of the metal spring cover. They are held in place with screws

I have the same problem with my FB25. My problem is removing the nut that holds the fan on. I do not have an impact driver and my drill will not take the nut off. I have tried holding the fan, but all I got was some skin peeled back on my pinky. Any other suggestions for removing the nut? Have good days!
@EverydayJourney2 жыл бұрын
You can take the spark plug out, put a string/rope to fill the cylinder through the spark plug hole. Make sure you have some sticking out for removal later. Thus will keep the shaft from turning. Then use a ratchet to turn the nut

i watched this video like 10 times and I still don’t even know what you did other than taking it apart and putting it back together?. What was even wrong with it in the first place and how did you reset the spring? You're winding it back up you cut out of the part where you pull the string out from wherever it supposed to go and then when you're talking about winding it a whole extra turn your hands are in the way so I can't see what you're doing. How has no one else had this problem can anyone explain to me what's going on here?
@EverydayJourney4 жыл бұрын
All I did is wind the spring up a little tighter so it would pull the cord back into it a little more. Then I put it back together
@TomisaLami4 жыл бұрын
@@EverydayJourney ahhh gotcha. That’s basically what I just did. However now I can’t get the motor to turn over I’m not even sure if it’s sparking. Any help with that lol
@EverydayJourney4 жыл бұрын
If you don’t have a spark plug tester you can try to pull it a little while holding the wire close to the spark plug. Sometimes you can see a spark and sometimes you can FEEL it

Ugg, anyone using a pneumatic to take off, that's fine, but when you put it on, do not, i repeat do not use your air impact to put on! it will ruin the keyway and flywheel! dang i wish i had just used my wrenches like usual till i saw him do that... grrrr...
@EverydayJourney3 жыл бұрын
I hate that you had that problem. I guess I should have mentioned that I just hit it very lightly when I put it back on. I knew the part was plastic and thought everyone would do just as I did. Sometimes I forget that my audience comes from all different backgrounds. Again I am very sorry
@firbyd3 жыл бұрын
@@EverydayJourney Lol, that's col, I actually use a piston stop and did the first round on this tear down too.. since i have 2 machines, i tried the air knowing it works well on takeoff too.. i am experienced but didn't know that machine was that touchy.. no big deal, thanks for bringing it back around.. i got them for free, so,, I just thought i would add in also.. thanks again.. keep up the great work! cheers!

@alext88284 жыл бұрын
@@EverydayJourney I'm working on my Weed Eater leaf blower and I'm having a problem that you might be able to solve. The cord spool is plastic and it rides on the above metal disk. All of this resides in a sort of clamshell housing consisting of two pieces. The upper piece bolts to the bottom of the engine. When I snug up the screws, the spool is apparently compressed against either the metal disk or the housing that is holding it keeping the cord from coiling back. Am I missing a part, or an idea on this? Thanks for your attention. Great videos
@Jointroller894 жыл бұрын
@@alext8828 i have the same problem
@alext88284 жыл бұрын
@@Jointroller89 Okay, I'll tell you what worked for me. I had to make spacers to keep the spool from pressing onto the metal disk. There are 5 screws that hold the recoil housing with the fan to the bottom of the motor casing. I took a plastic faucet supply line and, with a utility knife, I cut off small pieces about 1/8" long that look like washers or spacers. I put them between the recoil/fan housing and the motor casing. It separates the two just enough that the plastic spool turns nicely and doesn't bind. The first spacers I used were little lock washers and they were too small. The next ones were the plastic but they were too big. Use a screw gun to make the job easier. You might have to play with the sizes. Good luck and let me know how you do.
