I’m 60 years old, I started carnivore 11-19-23, weighing 555. I weighed this morning 12-13-23, I weighed 509. I’ve lost 46 pounds since I started this. I went through the “flu” during the second week, I feel great now. I have lost all cravings for carbs, keep it up you’re young, I wish I had started this years ago. Keep giving us the updates, I’ll do this right along with you my friend.

Went keto a couple years ago. the first month I was pretty angry, second month i was depressed, third month things started to clear up and 2 years later i'm the healthiest and happiest ive ever been. It's not always fun, but it's possible. Eat before you're starving, eat slow, and only weigh yourself once a week. you got this.

I'm 71 - and after I'd been doing carnivore for about six weeks, I realized (from some of the more experienced carnivores) that I was not eating enough! If you try doing calorie restriction, you trick your body into thinking it's in starvation mode, and defeat the purpose. So, I increased my intake - six eggs for breakfast with bacon or sausage, over 1 lb. of meat for dinner (steak, pork shoulder blade steaks, high-fat hamburger, maybe with egg) - and make sure to get enough fat, because THAT is the source of your energy! Congratulations, keep it up - this is something that only gets better with time!

“It’s hard to tell a story this early in something this big”. So true! This will be a massive change for you! Make sure you hook up with other KZbinrs. Don’t be shy! They will help you immensely! The Carnivore community is so inclusive and helpful. Congrats on taking this step! By the way, cramps are lack of electrolytes so up your salt and take magnesium and potassium. It will help immensely!

If you feel sick it is very important you supplement with electrolytes (sodium, potassium, & magnesium). I did keto for a while and it makes a huge difference. I wish you the best of luck. You got this.
@ociana11 ай бұрын
Agree. I would feel nauseaous, especially in the morning, so I googled it and it suggested electrolytes and I felt better almost instantly. You can even make your own electrolyte drink if you can afford the mixes.

The reason that you felt a flu, is because your body is getting ready to switch to ketosis where you will be burning your body fat as its primary fuel source. The switch over should happen within the next 7 days. Congrats on your new weight loss journey. Also keep in mind to have enough fat intake, so eating cheese is good. 35% fat whole cream is good.

Keto flu happens because when we stop eating carbs , our blood sugar and Insulin levels normalise .Elevated Insulin before keto, results in sodium being stored in our kidneys .That sodium is released and we feel a temporary electrolyte deficit (this manifests as flu like symptoms ). Supplementing with eletrolytes helps with this flu , but eating Carnivore foods will resolve it in time .Diarrhea is commonly experienced, too ,as we get used to eating more Fat than usual.Stick with it and ,in time, you will be glad you did.
@mbortega11 ай бұрын
Cheese is inflammatory. Ketosis takes a lot longer to adapt. Carnivore is not necessarily ketogenic

Hey Nickolas. I've done carnivore twice now, both times for about 6 months. It helped me shed a ton of weight and I felt great. Definitely a good way to jump start your weight loss journey! The important thing to think of is if you ever plan to come off of it, plan plan PLAN. The first time I got off I went right back to my old eating habits and regained my weight. The second time I meal planned, counted macros, prepped, and I managed to stay off. People are going to look at you like you're crazy, but just keep doing whatever makes you feel healthy. Good luck!

Great video Nick. I am new to carnoviore myself, I started Dec1 and have tried 20 diets over the last 50 years , I can see a couple differences in your approach and mine, The first week I was on carnoviore, I was just bouncing around with different meats and wasnt eating enough like you, I new I was deficient in calories and just worked thru it, I had sugar and carb cravings but other then that I powered thru.Then Week 2 , I went to the store, got eggs, sausage,bacon, sausage links and smoked turkey sticks. I cooked up about a pound of bacon and sausage patties and the sausage links for week 2 ,then placed it in the fridge for the week, I now start my morning with 4 eggs scrambled with 2 sausage patties in the egg mix, cook it and when I plate it I add a slice of colby cheese, then 4 slices of bacon and a cup of coffee ,Then I am set for most of the day , If i get the urge for sugar or carbs ,I usually grab a smoked turkey stick or 2 and that hits the spot, I did buy a electrolyte mix and probably drink 2 a day, then for dinner, one day I may have a small steak, another its a pork chop, and another may be hamburger pattie with chese, thats it and so far its going well , I feel it helps at least for me ,to have some kind of breakfast every morning, then i have no lunch but if I felt hungry I may grab a piece of sausage or Bacon , i usually feel full all day so making it to dinner isnt a issue so far, I get plenty of fat from the sausage,bacon and turkey sticks for the day and you would also , ,If you can keep some bacon, sausage or turkey sticks or a slim jim around for a quick snack ,that way you fill that need immediatly and possibly drink a glass of water or electrolyte drink, I think your having a lot of the same symptoms most people have and kicking sugar and carbs is like being a alcholic trying to get off alcohol , we were all raised and tricked into thinking carbs and sugars were ok, Todays remedys are if you dont feel good go to the doctor they will give you a pill or pills ,this will drop your cholesterol or BLood pressure ,then you can keep eating, but thats not the correct approach , I hope you continue on your journey, the most important thing is you realise going foreward your health will get worse and changing now is much better then later ,Good luck and keep fighting we are with you.

Congrats man! I was up to around 310ish and have been on a diet for around 6 months and im down 45ish pounds. Ive been considering switching to the carnivore diet but its too difficult with work. The diet im on now has been working good! Congratulations man! It takes a few weeks for your body to get used to it. Being a big boy myself it definitely helps a lot mentally. As you lose weight you wont notice it looking at yourself but watching that scale go lower and lower really boosts your confidence. As well as having people tell you that you look skinnier. One big thing with me was when my clothes started getting baggy and i had to punch more holes in my belt. It gets better man! Stick with it and it will change your life for the better!

Nick I'm proud of you man. Just by you looking into resources on making a change shows you want it. I've been checking out that carnivore diet and keto deal myself. I've been somewhat big and pudgy my whole life as well. I don't really look like it anymore but I still have a pooch and am technically overweight and have more fat than I should. I just turned 39. I'm a big feller at 6'6" and I weigh 315 lbs. I do have muscle still from my past but I've had several health issues like a muscle condition with no cure as well as almost every vertebrae from my neck to SI sacrum joint is wrecked in some way with degenerative disc disease and stenosis and fissures etc. I don't have enough cushion between them either. Anyway, it's super hard and limiting for me to be as active as I was. I got diagnosed as type 2 diabetic two years ago. My a1c was an 8.6 but now with 3 pills it's down to 7.2. That's still too high and I don't want to be dependant on prescription meds. I also take a statin for my cholesterol and take injections for B12 and Testosterone from both being virtually nonexistent when tested. I take a few other meds for pain and nerve damage but I could do without them I believe if I had to and especially lost more weight. Anyway, I'm the same way with having anxiety and some depression as you are especially about the dieing thing and the "what happens and how will I know" part and '"what happens after?" But we could talk forever about things. I worry too about how the country and world for that matter is going and how it's going to be with all the things happening. I'm trying to get better and in better condition to wether it. There's only so much gear, guns, ammo and supplies I can prep you know?! I'm having surgeries and having all my teeth fixed bc I won't have a dentist at the ready like we do now. But that's a whole other subject to talk about. But hey, congrats on your week of positivity and sticking with it so far man. It's only been a week but it takes minutes and days to make months and years. Find what works and do it. If you need to switch to Keto if it works better so you feel like moving then do that. Keep looking into others experiences like you are to see how long it takes to stop the flu symptoms and what not so you'll not jump the gun on switching if you don't want to. I'll quit yappin' now tho. Long comments like long videos are evidently frowned upon it seems lol. I don't mind reading and discussing things if it's helpful and insightful but folks seem to not like reading and watching videos if they're even more than 10 minutes or longer than a couple sentences. Lol. See ya Nick. Hang in there man. 🤜🏻🤛🏻🐍🇺🇸 P.S. Been watching since you did the video when you were really young and camped in the hot tent with the Buddy Heater in your back yard way back when.

Good for you. You'll soon feel in control, week or two. I'm 68, went keto in February, omad carnivore since June. Down 60 pounds, no longer need a couple meds. I tried dietary deviation, but it didn't work, stalled a while. Carb abstinence feels too good to stop now.

I started carnivore diet about 2 months ago. For me personally the second week was the worst. my bowel movements were worrying and I was super tired(Body was adjusting to breaking down new food). But power through the second week and it goes back to normal. I also really advise against cheat snacks. about 1 month ago I had a twix. I instantly had HORRIBLE cravings for food. My stomach hurt like I was starving because it wanted those carbs and fake sugars so bad. The last thing I would say is Watch your Vitamin C. Having a brothy soup once a week and it should be good.

Sorry to spam you but I want to help share experiences. I put little bits of diced onions in meatballs still with pork rinds for bits of breading and of course some eggs. There are only 10g of carbs in an entire onion. Putting a tiny bit is like less than half a gram in your entire meal for meatballs and it tastes so good still.
@lucasanderson786611 ай бұрын
The last thing is about Cholesterol. The never ending debate about Carnivore diet. Triglycerides are the actual issue NOT Cholesterol. You get Triglycerides from eating fruits, carbs, and Seed oils. You can not mix Triglycerides and Cholesterol, that is what leads to heart attacks.
@dichloro_arsine54211 ай бұрын
i was also around 300 a few years ago, i lost nearly 100 lbs just by limiting sugar and carbs. you feel awful at first but your body will adjust. and you're 100% right, once you lose the weight that's not all there is, i slipped up recently and gained 20 lbs so now i have to get back on it, but mistakes are part of the learning process and what matters is that you get back to it.

So happy for you man. I follow a lot of people that swear by that diet. I mostly try to stay away from suger, I’ve always had a sweet tooth. But the older I get the more it makes me feel like crap. It’s funny how you came to the conclusion about eating stuff and afterwords wondering “why did I eat that” lol. I had the same thought a few years ago and it’s one tool I use to avoid food without any benefits. I know what it tastes like, and I know after I eat it the pleasure is gone, but now I have to deal with the bad feeling afterwards. It’s not worth it to me anymore.

Good for you man! Good luck! I started on carnivore a few weeks ago now. My situation is a bit different: I’m 5’6”, was 180 lbs when I started, got as low as 173 recently, about 178 right now, so not that overweight when I started, and don’t need or want to lose that much weight, but I’ve had no ill effects from the beginning. I almost instantly had great energy, no cravings, depression/anxiety gone, inflammation and pain in my joints(especially my feet) drastically reduced, a small patch of psoriasis that was starting on my shin completely reversed and disappeared, my muscles feeling like they’re growing(even my abs starting to come back!), mentally much more focused and driven…just good results so far. So keep at it! Sugar, carbs, alcohol, even a lot of plants like spinach, kale, almonds, etc. no good due to oxalates. Blood pressure pretty good at the moment, will monitor it. Will possibly add back berries, fruit, honey, etc. at some point, but eating just meat is going surprisingly well so far. I love meat! Especially beef…ribeye! Anyway, good luck everyone! Excited to be on a “diet” where hunger is not a thing and the results and benefits are numerous. God bless❤

Keep it up Nick! Especially keep up your meal sizes and frequency. I understand the issues you had this week with food availability, but next week and onwards keep up the meal sizes and especially the frequency. The carnivore diet can be so satiating that people often forget to eat. And whilst short term weigh loss is your goal, keeping that weight off long term is arguably far more important. You'll find that much easier to do if you're well nourished and eating sufficiently. A good metric to aim for is 1g of protein per 1lb of target bodyweight. Resolving that maths roughly equates to 1lb of raw meat per 100lbs of target bodyweight. Three years carnivore/animal based here. Feel free to reach out if you need any advice.

Hey, great to hear your story, baby carnivore! The firSt step is the hardest, and the first couple of weeks are tough. Try to stick to plan, then this transition phase will go away faster. You don't need to be starving; the funny thing about the carnivore life style is that one seems to never be hungry. Hunger, real hunger, is physiological, it means your body needs fuel; cravings are more psychological - habits, triggers, social situations with temptations. It might be hard during the holidays; hope you will sail through those safely. Another piece of advice, if I may - to share my experience: during the keto flu, try and avoid exercise. Your body needs to adapt to burning fat as fuel, it's like shifting gears from carbs burning to fat burning. And again: if you are hungry, eat meat, eggs, bacon, anything on plan. Best of luck!

Bread is huge for adding weight. Cutting out that, grains, potatoes, and “sweets” will do more for you than anything else IMO. I know some random guy on the internet probably won’t sway your choice, but personally I’ve found small portions of dark green vegetables to be a nonissue when it comes to losing weight. Also for a snack, I would have a few raw peanuts due to their high protein and fiber content. Fiber is a “free” carbohydrate that isn’t digestible and able to be turned into glucose by our bodies. Essentially it is able to be subtracted from the total carbohydrates when looking at a label. I’m a type 1 diabetic and carb counting is something I am keenly aware of. Sustainability is the key and if you’re miserable, you won’t stick with the diet. Either way, if you take this input from me into consideration or not, I wish you the best on reaching your goals.

Don't take too much into consideration with these KZbin comment experts. Just know what works for you works for you. I do carnivore once a month every other month, and it has helped me drastically. It's just hard for me to strictly stay on that diet as I do travel a lot and it's not a weight issue for me. It's more or less dealing with all the other health issues that comes along with eating the food that we as Americans live on as a diet. Going carnivore every other month has helped me alleviate a lot of my ailments and health issues. But again, what works for me may not be for you KZbin commenters.

One day at a time bud. Know that you are not alone. You made it to 1 week. Now try 3 more weeks to make it a month. Then take a look at how you feel. Don't set huge goals. Set attainable smaller goals. Don't beat yourself up if you mess up. Do the same thing with exercise. You don't have to go to a gym. If you are sitting or laying down. lift each leg 10 times, next time try for 15, 20 or whatever you can do. It doesn't sound like it would make a difference but it's something. Before you know it you'll be able to do more and not be overwhelmed. ABD (Always Be Doing) something. Be honest about your struggles and talk to people, you can see from this comment section how many people are right there with you.

Hey man! Wishing you the best! Ever considered adding a leafy green, like spinach or kale into the mix? You could wilt it in the drippings left over from the meat. Good luck!

the flu symptoms are strange. i stopped drinking cola. and lost around 40 pounds. it's just the addicting sugar making you feel sick. best part of this dieet for me is still the eggs. doing good on the dieet. turning on notifications to see your joerney.

Well done Nick. The main thing is to find a “diet” that you can sustain as part of your lifestyle, not just short term. If you can incorporate some walking or indoor cycling that would be good. People have had a lot of success with carnivore.

just eat less food. no particular food group is bad, it's all about how much. your body needs carbs, fats and vitamins. yes, you can get all that from meat, but eating should be fun and a treat after a hard days work not just something you do because you have to. eat whatever you want, just eat less of it. here are some tips: only keep food at your house that your body needs, change your route at the grocery store so you don't get tempted to buy something your body doesn't need. even just a 20 minute walk can help you start your journey.

Im rooting for you. Something that I loved was resistance training. So even some moderate weight lifting would be good to work into your weekly routine.

When you have that hunger feeling but don’t want to eat try pickle juice or olive juice. Just a couple sips and it helps. A lot of time the body needs salt and water.

Make sure you are using a good salt like Redmans that has all the trace minerals not ionized table salt

Congratulations. In 8 weeks, my A1C went from 9.9 to 6.8; triglycerides from 1475 to 419. Can't wait till my next blood test. I feel good. If you crave the bubbles you used to get in soft drinks try seltzer water.

I used to eat chips, popcorn and salty stuff - just as bad as sugar. I try to walk considering my ankle is usually hurting and I'm not having pizza and chicken strips all the time, at my age weight piles on if I don't watch my food intake. You'll be slimmed down by summer and I can't wait to see updates!

You don’t need to make it hard by not eating. Go ahead and eat until full. You will still shrink and get leaner. If you do only eat OMAD, make sure you’re eating enough in that one meal and get enough fat.

I watched your video a few days ago and didn't get to comment until now. Congrats on the weight loss. Just be careful and don't overdo the diet. The last thing you need is any damage to your body. If you feel off, please seek medical attention. If you need anything, let me know. I will do what I can to help out. We still need to find time to get out and go camping together sometime.

Your not alone, man I spent the last yr. Started keto. But just could not stay away from Hershey bars. 6 months ago I started carnivore. But I just ate meat and more and more Hershey bars. I would tell myself every day tomorrow, just today but tomorrow. It's crazy how we will lie and cheat our self. We will justify it in our own mind. I'm 50 and had to put my foot down on myself. Dec. 5th. I'm finally clean carnivore. What made December 5th work for me. Last yr on December 5th I quit smoking. After 30 yrs. Cold turkey. If I could do that. I can give up chocolate.

Keep up the good work bro! Remember the key to weight loss is burning more calories then you consume. (Burn 3000 in a day - 1500 calories of meat = 1500 calories of fat that your body burns as fuel) keep it up!!!

Doing carnivore is way EASIER than keto, because you dont play game with carb addiction everyday.
