Changing commanders in a war is generally a bad idea, and often done recklessly You need to let the leadership stay and build structure and experience. Russia has already made that mistake, in constantly changing the commander of their ''Special Military Operation Zone,'' now let's hope Ukraine doesn't do the same.

Saying it is a Hungarian claim is far-fetched as this is the stance of Mi Hazánk party, that has a 6-8% support. They can say whatever they want as an opposition party - they have to appeal only to their voters without the burden of being politically correct. Should you take them seriously? Pro: The governing Fidesz usually use them to say what they want but they can't - they are some testing ground for more extreme takes on specific topics, and if that works out well, Fidesz also tries to adopt it. They are a "friendly" opposition party on ideological questions, and claiming that Hungary should reconquer territories when possible, resonates well on the right side although it is not in the mainstrean overton vindow. Cons: everything else. This scenario is unreal as long as Hungary is in the Nato and Ukraine exist. And even then, Hungary would need both western and russian support to change borders, that is quite unlikely. Hungary has a small and weak military, not enough to occupy. And pretty sure that stronger countries like Romania or Poland would try to block us. And the demographics is pretty bad, too little Hungarians with a big block of Ukrainians who most likely dont want to join. Even if the territory would be free to take Hungary ends up in a worse scenario - having a Kosovo 2.0.

Fun fact: maybe a political urban legend, but in the last days of the Soviet Union the Soviet leadership offered Zakarpattya/Kárpátalja to Hungary as it was annexed from Hungary in 1945, and maybe with the intention of piss off the Ukrainian leadership as long as they are still a subordinate of the Moscow leadership, but in 1992 the Antall government didnt want to open talks about border changes in fear of escalating regional conflicts (See yugo wars) and they started talks with the new Ukrainian leadership instead. And maybe a political urban legend for now, but I suppose Orbán really had some plan to take territories if there is a chance in 2022. Orbán is usually quick to realize when the status quo has ended and he makes his moves first. But there is no chance now. Currently he is cornered in Nato and EU, so quite unlikely Hungary stays out of the line.

There was a time when they were known as "the most loyal nationality group", because they always stood with us aside from a few minor exceptions. However, I think they also didn't hate Czechoslovakia all that much. At least both Hungary and Czechoslovakia acknowledged them as an actual minority group (I don't really know how they are treated in Ukraine, but I think they are generally referred to as Ukrainians rather than Rusyns, though again, Idk how much they care about that nowadays).

In 1991 referendum what marks the borders of Ukraine is contained another part what about is the autonomy of the Ruthenian region! The 80% of the people(included ukrainians and ruthenians, romanians, hungarians) of the region is voted to one autonomous region with a region capital "Beregszász"(Berehove). But Ukrain never made it happen! Even what the people want here! In 2015 Ukraine also took away the rights to study and use the Hungarian language.(Russian too but this is understandable a little bit) So this is the democracy of Ukrain!

Ukraine is the Austro-Hungary of yesterday, huge country with many ethnic minorities (Hungarian, Romanian, Polish, Ruthenian, Russian etc.), all at its borders, which it has alienated and forcefully assimilated for years now, when they collapse Hungary won't be the only country chipping in. Ukraine's population is around 85% ethnically Ukrainian, with the remaining largely belonging to a Russian minority, which has been signification reduced in size by the occupations of Crimea and the Donbas. Austria-Hungary's population was around 25% ethnically German. To put it simply, the idea of Ukraine to be a ''failed state'' of minorities wanting independence, is hilarious.
