Why did it surrender? Becouse otherwise it would starve to death. Which is why sieges took hundreds of days and very little casulties most of the time.

By the middle of Gaza they mean the flat strip of land between the city and Khan Yunis. Israel controls that. The civilians will chose to evacuate and will manage to get there if Hamas does not block the route. This will lower possible casualties as it will remove civilians from the foreseeable intense urban combat.

They learned from the second intifada and the first ceasefire in this war, that Israel values the lives of a few of its citizens far more than the lives of hundreds of Palestinians, and so will release hundreds of Palestinians in exchange for a miniscule amount of Israeli citizens.

Can someone tell my why those who oppose israel don't use their vast arsenal to blockade israeli shipping? It seems to me that would be far more effective than using said arsenal on the ground considering israel makes billions of dollars through trade and their military is reliant on american imports.
