Part 8 of the Civilian To Soldier series!
You will get to see what it's really like to go through Basic Training and the process of transforming from a regular civilian into a fully trained Infantry soldier.
This week the platoon takes on their first individual best effort weighted run (2Km with 15KG) following a 4Km weighted tab (20KG). This weight will keep increasing to meet the Infantry standard. The recruits conduct more live firing on the ranges and hone their marksmanship skills at different distances.
Feel free to put questions in the comments!

I think you may have gotten a new subscriber!! Love this wee series, like I have no interest in joining Army , plus can't anyway because of health reasons but it's so interesting. It's amazing seeing the next generation of soldiers training to fight in whatever there asked to. Hope this group all pass out with flying colours and stay safe in there next adventure. Keep the good work up watching from Northern Ireland.😁

Just a quick question,if you wanted to replicate the kit/weight the lads carried, for your own training. For the 4Km they were wearing belt order and the 40L issue Daysack.For the 2Km they were wearing belt order and the issue 17L assault pack. Packed 17L carried inside the 40L to make up the weight up to the start point of the 2Km??? If so does anyone know what items are packed in each(belt order/17L/40L)?

You may be back trooped and finish your training with another troop. But that’s only if you’re really behind lots of times. They build you up so you should be able to do it by week 8

Are tabs mainly walking/fast walking?
@yesyesoyes72
@yesyesoyes72 3 жыл бұрын
Pretty sure that tabs are fast walking mixed with running. Due to a tab being a Tactical Advance to Battle
@OperatorKerri
@OperatorKerri 3 жыл бұрын
There's meant to be a formula to it but it's really up to the PT staff. You'll march at a brisk walking pace for most of it and you'll double for a couple of hundred metres every couple of kilometres.

Just to clarify tabs will always consist of carrying a weight such as your Bergen, webbing and rifle. The tactical advance to battle simulates what it would be like to walk into a battle with all your gear. This is why a lot of tabs end with a shooting exercise.

I have 2 doubts 1.. If we are selected for Biomedical scientists.. Phase 2 training is for 3 yrs.. What should we get paid.. As a private or as a trainee 2..In phase 2 training.. Can we live off campus privately.. 3..If we are single.. And want to leave in military quarters.. Can we leave alone or with girlfriend..
