You mentioned Sika getting everywhere, it's true it does. I used to be a sales rep for Sika and the one simple trick we used to teach was a good squirt of dish soap and water in a spray bottle. Spray it on unwanted sikaflex and you can wipe it away with a rag. If you want to smooth out your job, spray the job and your hand and you can move it about and it won't stick to you. Sounds to simple to be true but it works. Love your work, its great to fill in the blanks that an automotive guy doesn't know about the marine world

I’ve been watching your resurrection of Renko from the beginning with a great deal of interest, and no little nostalgia. When I was a kid (mid-century, more years ago than I care to admit) we had a steel work boat-cruiser style, GMC 6-71-which we ran summers as a deep-sea sport fishing charter boat in the Pacific off the Columbia River. I have fond (ahem) memories of first resurrecting and converting it to certify as a USCG passenger-carrying vessel, and then spending winters in constant maintenance. I envy your needle gun, plasma cutter, welder, battery-powered grinders and screwdrivers, paint rollers-we had chipping hammers, wire wheels, power-drill hole cutters, hacksaws, covered floating drydock & sandblasting (when necessary), all-hands 24-hour marathon painting sessions-with brushes-to cover bare steel before it rusted. Of course, computer-based navigation and electronics were simply unimaginable. Not trying to say you have it easy, just that having worked in the stone age I have so much appreciation for what you can do now. I think Renko is a very slick little general work boat and overnight cruiser. I admire your hard work and sensible decisions obviously based on long and hard-won experience, and I wish you years of satisfaction and enjoyment on board.

Stu , love the mood lighting on the green beast machine. 😉💯💯 I've always taken a piece of flatbar wider than my patch , stand it on its side and place a couple of tack welds on it . Your patch can't drop through the hole and you have something to hold on while welding it in. 😉

Mate, your knowledge is out of this world. If you ever choose to move, please relocate to South Florida here in the USA.
