Love that you are talking about this - in ancient cultures and even modern-day sub-cultures they say that women are more sensitive and emotions are heightened which can be really insightful for seeing what is going on within the subconscious. I think it's important to pay attention to what comes up during different points of the cycle but also remember why feelings might be amplified during that time to keep us grounded. Love what you do as always

I don’t know that I’ve ever heard of cycle syncing before watching this video… last week leading up to my period, I had caffeine just about every day, which is abnormal for me. The first day of my period, I woke up in the middle of the night with major cramps and breast sensitivity (which I rarely get). So maybe there is something to this!! Definitely interesting and something to look into more!

I think this cycle syncing is interesting but until it's backed by science I think it's great to keep listening to your body and not ignoring cues like pushing through fatigue at the gym. Ever since I started listening more my overall performance has increased because I'm getting the rest I need.

absolutely agreed. Also good to read up on literature or listen to podcasts with experts (rather than a google search) - there's an amazing book called Period Power by Maisie Hill.

Hey Soph maybe a tmi question so don’t answer if you aren’t comfortable! I’m wondering how you avoid pregnancy if your cycle length varies ~5 days? My cycle is 28-29 days and I track my cycle being careful around my ovulation to avoid pregnancy, however your variation is quite high how do you know?? I’m sure you’ve said you aren’t on hormonal birth control but I could be totally wrong! I’m just wondering how you know not to get pregnant lol

The books called “The Red Code” and “The Fifths Vital Sign” are both really good books about your cycle and go into depth about how each cycle effects you. I highly recommend them!

Thank you for normalising these conversations, as an ex contraceptive pill user for 10 years, it's ridiculous to have to navigate periods and hormones as a 30 year old. Some say pumpkin seeds are also good, can't hurt.

I've read a few books on this topic and learnt so much about hormones and periods from three books in particular - Period Repair Manual, Woman Code by Alisa Vitti and In the Flo by Alissa Vitti. Woman Code more so focuses on healing your hormones and In The Flo is all about cycle syncing - so read Woman Code first. The author is actually the woman who came up with the concept of cycle syncing! I'd definitely recommend all women read these books

Ahh Soph I loved this!! As someone who recently got diagnosed with PMDD I’m really happy to see other menstruating people cycle syncing! Feels like I’m less alone with the diagnosis 🥹🤞🏻

Love this vid, cannot recommend cycle syncing more - one way I’ve read about it, is each phase of your cycle almost like a season, eg menstruation = winter (cos you feel more internal & slow), follicular = spring (a slight build in energy) etc. Super powerful to be connected to your bod in that way 🔥

I personally haven't had a 'real' period or period cycle in 14 years because i have been on the pill for that long BUT i still get cramps and moderate/heavy bleeding on my withdrawal bleeding days (lucky me 😂) and i swear on two things - I take Magnesium supplements every day and i believe that they take away 99% of my cramps BUT before i discovered Magnesium, drinking a couple of cups of Coconut Water a day at the start of my 'period' was AMAZING at keeping cramps away. 👌 💖

Hi Soph, synching your period to your workouts isn't actually backed my science or research - the current research on this topic doesn't have enough evidence to support it. I'd recommend Natacha oceane's video, because she explains it better. Also pls don't call it "research" when it's just googling/searching the internet, it's quite misleading
@Nikki-oh9uq Жыл бұрын
Soph literally says at the start of the video that she’s not an expert and to take this with a grain of salt!
@laurayksk3 Жыл бұрын
She literally says to take it with a grain of salt. Just because there’s not enough research done on it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try it because it can really help. The exercise you do and the food you eat has a huge impact on hormones.

I swear you need to relax lol! I’ve personally ate and exercised in a certain way during and after my period and I can say it makes a huge difference with energy, performance, skin and mood. Do what works for you And she said take my info as a grain of salt. Nothing too deep

Love this video! So important to talk about period health. Also interesting to research the season that your in.. period = winter ❄️ lots of warming foods to help your womb release your lining. Lots of warm teas, orange foods (carrots, turmeric, sweet potato, pumpkin) and heat packs on your womb. They say day 1-3 we should basically be on bed rest to allow the body to do it’s thing. And if you feel like something else, research Yoni Steam NZ - changed my life! Also period undies or liners so we’re not shoving anything up there (can be hard when training tho 😢) also drinking hot cacao is great for menstruation. Loved learning about the walnuts, exercise and breakfast ideas 🎉 Thanks for sharing, love your blogs they make my week ❤ xxx
