Everyone keeps saying it wrong! It’s not the Spear of Selene. It’s the Spear of Saline, the goddess of salt water. Della accidentally had a brain fart when she was writing her apology note and wrote Selene instead of Saline. This is why we proofread our stuff, people! Anyway, Della took the spear because the world’s salt water was turning into fresh water, which would kill salt water sea creatures and the only way to fix it was to return the spear to its owner. Sadly, while she was fighting a kraken to get home, her sub got smashed and she’s been trying to repair it in an air pocketed cave all these years.

Fun fact: All of the gods were voiced by actors of Greek descent. Nia Vardalos (Selene) is best known for My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Mrs. Diaz in Star vs the Forces of Evil, Michael Chiklis (Zeus) was The Thing in the 2000s Fantastic Four movies, and Chris Diamantopoulus (Storkules) has done a tone of voice roles, including Mickey Mouse!

Honestly, the finale revealing that Magica is actually Della's darker half bound to a child 15 years ago (Lena) and that the memories contained in the sphere Selene gave Dewey are the good half was phenomenal, can't wait for you to see the scene where they give Lena the sphere to reunite the two parts of Della.

Zeus is perhaps the most purely detestable character in the whole show. There's nothing that makes him fun to watch like the other villains, and you just despise whenever he's onscreen. Which really isn't a problem at all, as long as he's used properly, which I find he very much is. Storkules being fully conscious during his possession and begging his father to stop is just nightmarish.

I loved that episode. Fun fact, the actors for the gods are of greek descent. Also, I am from Greece and I can safely say that the way Zeus is portrayed in that episode is surprisingly accurate to some of his stories in mythology. 17:30. The voice surprised me too

I love the reaction to Louie's full name, even though it was mentioned in the first episode ( no shame, I know it's been a while). But yes, most of the main characters have not two but three different names, Including Scrooge, Mr's Beakley and Glomgold. The boys are Huey, Dewey, and Louie, but their full names are Hubert, Dewford, and Llewellyn, and of course their secret names are Snap, Crackle and Pop (joke, they're actually Jet, Turbo, and Rebel). Likewise Webby's full name is Webbigail, but her secret name is April. And I would love to see the reaction to this comment, just to see if Mosco can figure out how much of this is fake spoilers.

The Spear of Selene is a spear that was named after Selene by Della, since these two were friends! That spear was a mystical artifact that Scrooge, Donald and Della found in one of their adventures and it's very dangerous, it could actually manipulate moon. Scrooge and Donald thought that spear was too dangerous, so they hid it but Della found it and decided to use it in a Shadow War that was going at the time. Sadly, the power of spear influenced on Della really bad and she died because of it (or did she?)

The Spear of Selene is actually an experimental laser gun. Scrooge had it made to help combat with magical entities. Della tool it to get payback at Madam Quack. But before she could get to a plane, Scrooge and Donald caught up. Donald fought her for it and tossed it to Scrooge, who accidentally fired it, trying to get a grip. Della got hit and was seemingly vaporized. We'll see her later halfway through Season 2, when it turns out the Spear actually sends things exactly 11 years into the future, and she just appears in front of everyone as they come back from another adventure.

The Spear of Selene is an important focal point of the lore. With Della having taken it, Scrooge was left without a pilot (notice how her headgear has flight goggles). We know from the Atlantis episode that Donald blames Scrooge for Della not being around anymore, so Scrooge's adventuring days come to an end, but he needs someone to drive him around. Enter Launchpad. We can see how inept he is, and so can Scrooge, but mention of Della and how he knew her (having met her in pilot training he never finished) is enough to convince Scrooge to take him on and keep him around, if only in remembrance of his niece.

Major spoiler: The Spear od Selene was actually a mining laser that Scrooge had built so he could drill into the moon and reach its solid gold core. Della found out that the laser would end up destroying the moon, so she stole it and went into hiding.

BTW Della actually is dead she deeply offended Eratskigal the ducktales Sumerian death goddess rat and the team has to go on an underworld adventure and convince her to let Della go back to the land of the living. Unfortunately they brought back an impostor who was actually Eratskigal's child Hamtar, a hamster god, shapeshifted to look like Della, and spent an immortal lifetime in the underworld and desperately wanted to touch grass and get out more.

The DuckTales series is actually just something Della made up after she accidentally destroyed all life on Earth with the Spear of Selene where her family could go on adventures and be happy. The reason she didn't put herself in it is because she feels super guilty about killing everyone and she decided that their lives(even though they're just a figment of her imagination) would be better without her in it.

I don't know if you've picked up on it yet, but here in the Ducktales fandom we usually refer to the triplets by their full names- Hubert, Dewford, and Llewellyn- out of respect for the duck who named them. Calling them Huey/Dewey/Louie tends to be confusing, like they're three copies of the same character.
