Good exercises man! Make sure when you do squats that your knees aren't coming forward. Check yourself in the mirror from the side to help your form

Yes that would help. Just go as heavy as you can while keeping a perfect form. Make sure taht you do them as fast as possible too. Keep it in the 6-8 rep range brother.

Yes this is safe as long as you have the correct form.
@MaxPFitness
@MaxPFitness 12 жыл бұрын
That actually pretty good. just make sure you do them fast with a proper form so you hit your fast muscle fibers.

I seen something about doing weighted step ups kind of like a squat onto and back off of a bench, and I was wondering if it would be a good idea to do those if I was doing the Barbell Lunges, or if that would be a leg killer. Definentaly doing the squats and deadlifts; great video.
@MaxPFitness
@MaxPFitness 12 жыл бұрын
Yes but while going really fast still have the perfect form. If you do them slow you will still increase your vertical jump. However, you will not increase it as fast as you would if you did squats fast. The reason for that is the vertical jump is a very fast movement and you need to do it fast in order to convert your plyometrics training into your jump and help the strength of your legs make you jump higher.

Yea it could be a good workout. However,, I would suggest using dumbells because that way you will be able to balance yourself better on the bench.
@MaxPFitness
@MaxPFitness 11 жыл бұрын
Time frame will be hard to determine since everyone is different. But if you hit the weights and mix it with plyometrics than you should see real results soon.
@MaxPFitness
@MaxPFitness 12 жыл бұрын
Well you have test out the weight to see what you feel comfortable working out with brother. Dont go so heavy that you mess up your form, but at the same time dont go so light that you can be throwing up the weight like its nothing. Feel out the weight you can get a good workout with while maintaining the correct form.

Gotta do them bro for your glutes and hamstrings. Just make sure you keep a clean form.
@MaxPFitness
@MaxPFitness 12 жыл бұрын
When you were doing those exercises did you eat clean and did you get the proper rest? Doing squats has a great impact on your vertical so it is when you rest that your vertical jump actually goes up. that is why football players weigh so much and jump way higher than nba players when it comes to measuring their vertical jump. When you workout your legs its also important to do low reps and do them fast because the vertical jump movements is a very fast movement.
@MaxPFitness
@MaxPFitness 12 жыл бұрын
Yea no problem bro. That is too many repetitions. Try doing maybe 3x6 or 5x5. You want to work on your fast twitch muscle fibers and not on your slow twitch muscle fibers. That is why sprinters usually are way more explosive than long distance runners.

Would you recommend these workouts to a high jumper? My high jump PR is 5'10 and I'm hoping to get AT LEAST 6'0 once the season starts. Been looking for a workout to get my height up. Also one more question, how long until you think I will begin noticing results?
@EricLesher

Weird. Since I was 15 I have been doing plyometrics for vertical (im 21 now). I got close to 40 vertical at one point. When I was 20 I had this phase where I was tired of being a skinny dude and wanted to bulk up and lifted weights (which I never had in my life before) every other day. This included squats, leg press, exc. I went from 150 lbs to 185 and was still pretty lean. But my vertical decreased about a half a foot. For the last 4 months I stopped lifting and its back to where it was.
