That blue glowing Star Wars ship in the background, he took that from my room to make his background look cool, you can’t deny this dad! You confirmed this earlier before I went to California. Please give it back though. Please don’t take the first part personally

I didn’t know you’ve had bariatric surgery. Me too! Gastric bypass in June 2018. I lost 100 lbs. and am still down 90 lbs. It has been a came changer! 👊🏼

That's awesome! My surgery was in 2019 and despite some regain I've kept off 125 lbs, and now I'm working hard to relose what I put back on.

I did the coursework in preparation for getting gastric sleeve surgery. By the time I was approved my BMI had dropped from 55 to 34 and I was switched to maintenance. I'm still losing but now the hard part of keeping it off has begun.

I had a Gastric bypass 16 years ago and lost 125 lbs. I have maintained my weight +/- 10 lbs and I have had four knee replacement surgeries and I have myalgic encephalomyelitis and my being able to exercise is next to nil. I have a few friends who have had it done before I did and have kept it off as well. That being said, I also know people who have had it done and are now bigger than they were before the surgery. It is a lifestyle change and you have to commit.i If you go back to sitting on the couch eating a family size bag of potato chips and washing it down with a few Coke's... you will undo everything you worked so hard for. You can do it, it is possible!!!! You are worth it!

I have myalgic encephalomyelitis as well and can't exercise at all either. The weight loss hasn't given me more energy, but it allows me to stretch my limited energy a little further each day. As for those that get the surgery but end up putting all the weight back on, those cases are pretty rare. It's only around 3.4% of patients that regain all the weight. In general, about 85% of bariatric surgery patients keep off at least half the weight they lost long-term, which is far more successful than any other treatment for obesity out there.

@@SprintingSlowly ohhhh no CFS that sucks I know I’m active under this weight How do you cope?
@SprintingSlowly
@SprintingSlowly Жыл бұрын
@@dumpsterfire6351 Late last year I was lucky enough to get accepted into the Bateman Horne Center, a specialty clinic for CFS. They have me on like 15 different meds and it has made all the difference. I used to be in bed around 23.5 hours per day, but now I get about 8-10 hours out of bed each day. I'm not bursting with energy by any means, but just being able to putter around the house a bit and even drive occasionally feels like I've been let out of prison. The weight loss definitely helps my limited energy stretch a little farther.

That calculator is extremely helpful to me. I finally received my pre-approval from the insurance company for my bypass surgery. It puts the excitement back into my journey, thank you 😊

That's wonderful news, congratulations! And glad to hear the calculator was helpful to you. The stringent pre-approval process can definitely put a damper on the excitement sometimes.

I am unsure that first comment is true. I think it may depend on the individual. My aunt and cousin both did it and it made them all skinny and they have kept it off. They did more than just diet though. I noticed they exercise regularly now and when I see them at family gatherings they stuck to intentional low portions. I think that is just them keeping themselves in check. I am so proud of all of them.

Bariatric surgery made me 100kgs or 220lbs thinner and it's 10yrs - I decided not to eat takeaways and fizzy drinks, in these 10yrs I haven't eaten any takeaways and still drink water. No coffee, tea or alcohol/fizzy.

Have to respectfully disagree regarding diets. Most people have unreasonable expectations and want changes quickly. This is a mental and control issue mostly not really a weight issue. You're advocating people do invasive surgery over a more natural approach like cutting carbs, intermittent fasting or even extended fasting? Also comparing your older videos from when you had surgery it's obvious you gained quite a lot of weight back already so what was the point of the surgery exactly? Anyways I hope people realizing that long term weightloss is a lifestyle and discipline issue not so much a physical one. Have a good day 👍

Totally agree 👍. There HAS to be a better way for most people than major surgery then a lifetime of Semaglutide.

This is old thinking. Obesity is a metabolic disease. There have been plenty of studies showing less than 2% of morbidly obese people who lose weight from diet and exercise maintain that weight loss 10 years later. Contrast this with surgical intervention where over 80% maintain that loss. Markeology is obviously not in the 80% but that's fine, he has still lost some weight.
