good vid man, Klokov is very underrated as an athlete just because he hasn't won Olympic Gold, which he was more than capable of winning even after he officially retired, natty or not doesn't even matter, absolute beast of a man

Look up Dmitry Klokov training and competition 2005-2015. That video is 22 min long but is organized. BS is the first couple minutes, Snatches follow BS, CJ follow snatches, random klokov stuff follows CJ. The snatch and CJ section would make for a good review video

People still talking about his 200 kg hang pause snatch as his most impressive lift. Not for me. In my opinion, his strict pressing ability is more impressive. His strict overhead pressing power is just ridiculous.

You have to do Andrei Rybakou AKA the man who could snatch 90% of his clean & jerk... Akkaev would be great too after the tease in this video; I feel like he was always in Klokov's shadow (popularity-wise) despite having beaten him at the Olympics and being the more talented of the two.
@wesgd623 жыл бұрын
I went to one of his seminars and he said he jerked 260 a couple days before 265 and got injured because he hadn't recovered from the last heavy jerk session. It was pretty early in his career so I wonder if that's part of the reason why he snatch was always more relatively impressive than his CJ.

One of my favorites is Klokov's "Complex for good snatch". kzbin.info/www/bejne/q2fCYaWYeJt_fZY. This was back in 2013 when he was taking lighthearted jabs at Crossfit. The guy was just hydraulic. No one but he or maybe Lasha would do this complex with 105 kg.

I don't think anyone wants to speak ill of Klokov, but it really puts it into perspective how much he lifted in comp vs how much he lifted in training as far as how "good" he was. Looking back, when I first got into WL in the early 2010s, he was one of the few consistently posting training on social media and introducing us all to Russian stuff, but in a lot of ways I find him less impressive now, as guys like Bedzhanyan and Martirosyan have outlifted him *in competition* under stricter testing no less, but he was just the first to be really putting out content and showing himself off to the world, and showing off the overweight untested training lifts we've all gotten used to seeing now. Now that the years have gone by and the wow and flash is gone, it doesn't impress me as much as a decade ago. :( Maybe it's just getting old, and the drug aspect definitely being more apparent than a decade ago, too.
@09thespecialone3 жыл бұрын
True. He was good but not an all time best. He's a bit overrated actually (if you look at his career achievements, he did not win that much).
@FrankMaster732 жыл бұрын
@@09thespecialone I think it’s that he was good for so long. All the other guys he competed against and even lost to were always getting popped or hurt. It says a lot to be over 6’ or taller and have your body be able to maintain the level of performance it does. I think If martirosyan can last 30 and medal he’ll knock klokov off for me.
