One of my favorite sketches from my favorite childhood show. I used to play sick and skip school just to watch Square One, 321 Contact, and the many other GREAT shows on PBS durring the late 80's thru 90's, I learned more about math from Square One than I Ever learned in the Hillsborough County Public School system.

Too right though I don't really see how this one's educational at all, lol. The definition of 'patterns' it gives is so nebulous as to be pretty useless. The most it says is "patterns exist" like okay awesome. But just like the best bits on sesame street, the learning can just take a seat while the comedy plays out. Because learning how to be funny is a lot more important.

Love the Dr. Demento cameo.

There is SO much going on in this video. The Terry Gilliam-style animation ended by the Monty Python foot. The Beatles reference. Dr. Demento. The short line of music that Al used to wrap up all his polka medleys. Pretty much none of which I had originally processed when I saw this when it originally aired. My parents had the Beatles album that the "blisters" line was from; I don't know if I originally made a connection there, or if I just thought it was something musicians just said sometimes.

I ran into this song back in my days of using file sharing programs. I had lost the mp3 over 10 years ago, but woke up this morning with the tune emerging from my memory. Kinda weird how that happens. But just to add to people's knowledge, there's a list of songs performed by Weird Al on Wikipedia which holds a plethora of song titles which many Weird Al fans likely would know little or nothing about. Keep in mind that while Al performed these songs, there are a number which he didn't write or were covers of other artists' songs.
