The sexes are different for an evolutionary reason. But we are all waaaay more similar than lots of people give the human species credit for. This is a very tough topic and I’m proud of the community for not going crazy and handling it with clear minds.
@devilmay
@devilmay 9 ай бұрын
its not just evolutionary, its the way our hormones interact with our body during development which is also affected based on our social interactions, lifestyles, etc. there is some (SOME) basis that the social background for (predominantly western) society's boom in "trans" (literally as a movement term per its real definition) between typical historical views of male and female roles, is that current generations of children have relatively undifferentiated social interactions as compared to children 100 years ago, which would have been highly segregated and genderized, girls learning from thier female relatives and males from them with exclusive roles and activities. please note im not making any comments for or against any lgbtqx ideas etc. just stating there is a developmental contrast to society as compared to 100 years ago between historical gender rolls and upbringing. for more information, see your local university or library.

That part about neuroanatomy reminds me of some cool trivia. I read somewhere that men's amygdala (the fear / emotion / aggression processing center) is significantly larger in men than women, but the parts of the brain responsible for processing social information is larger in women.

Actually the argument confuses me, if is true that the behavioral differences are given by social interaction and gender culture and stereotypes why in nature animals with different gender act differently, maybe is not the brain but the hormons, but there is still a behavioral difference, also if it's been proven alredy that men and women have phisical differences why not also cognitive and behavioral? What's so wrong about it and why is it sexist? I genuinily do not get.
@depressedgum9303
@depressedgum9303 3 жыл бұрын
I would overall agree with that. People will say “you can’t hit a women because men are stronger than women” and some women have agreed with that claim. Although by saying that a male brain works better in some aspects than a females brain is considered sexist by some people is genuinely confusing. Of course (this isn’t to say all) some women have taken advantage of the fact that men are built to be stronger and used that fact to benefit them in some way (again, not all women do that, it is an extremely small minority that do) I’ve seen it happen in my school. What I will say is that overall people want to believe what they think will help them. By saying a man is stronger than a women physically, a women can hit a man and say that they can’t hit back because of them being stronger. But because there isn’t a way for that small minority to find a way for it to benefit them, it is labeled as sexist.

To all y'all confused about neurosexism, it's not that people are rejecting fundamental differences between men and women, it's the fact that studies are not perfect and there is often factors that are not accounted for. For example, male tend to go for physics, male likes blue and so forth. These are all observations we can conclude from our current society, but whether this is due to biological difference or social conditioning remain to be seen. It can be argued that the reason guys like physics, construction, or even things like colour boils down how male and females are raised different, parents buy science, race car, blue coloured stuff for their boys but buy dress, barbies for their girls. This is what people are referring to, the narrator was being really disengenous with how they worded the subject This also means that studies done back in the 60's etc shouldn't be taken as absolute truth and be taken with caution as these studies were made by men, and in a time where women didn't exactly had equal rights compare to men All the comments I'm seeing right now just made me wanna shout to this unending void that is KZbin comments Edit: grammar

Theories exist with the very reason to explain the world around us, yet you say it doesnt have evidence and is controversial. The problem with neural-sexism seems to come from the fact that both men and women are capable of accomplishing the same tasks, but individual people are often far more shaped by their own life experiences than they are their own gender. It's not even viable to trust self-reporting, not just because of bias, but a lack of any reliable frame of reference for how another gender feels - all else being equal. Which is impossible.
