This 100% captured my current situation. This week: 1 child had 4 exams this week. 1 child has both a band concert and a chorus concert - two different nights. The third child is in a musical opening tonight. I have to go three times because she’s in the ensemble opening night but has a lead tomorrow. Sunday is the music department banquet. Next week, more exams!

Life really did get 110% better once my son graduated HS!!! He's class of 2019 and these past 4 years have been bliss filled! May/June no stress of making sure he got everything done (that final stretch to make sure he graduated! and every September the stress of buying everything and he DID NOT want to go back to school). Yeah, life is good with no school anymore, forever!

@@Knight-of-Sarcasm Even with my son's ADHD and autism, school was boring and a whole lot of sit down and shut up. Never allowed to question anything, testing testing testing and never learning. it was all about the homework. WEll I fought tooth and nail and got it that he didn't have to do the homework anymore and didn't lose credit. He passed every test with flying colors w/o doing homework. He didn't need it to remember what was taught, he knew it and could regurgitate all they'd shown him. He was so bored that he got labeled 'disruptive'. WE fostered him out to family in another state.he did so much better there as he was mainstreamed! I was so burnt out (I have ADHD and autism too) from fighting the school every dang day. They refused to follow his IEP and I actually had to get a state pro bono lawyer to go after a teacher and aid that were bullying and abusing my son and allowing (with glee mind you) other kids to bully my son, even instigating other kids to bully him and his best buddy (both have ADHD and autism) The district is huge but with only ONE autism specialist for 10 elementary schools 8 middle schools and 5 high schools, the rest were just there to help slow learners! When you get an email from the Autism Up group on how to get through an IEP without CRYING - there's a real problem, and the entire time he was in school ( he started at 3 in a special school) we had nothing but fighting for everything. If it wasn't for me being burnt out with my own health issues, my son and I planned out things to do all summer and on the weekends and vacations. I did so much better when he was home than when he was in school!! He thrived having basic rules and an idea of what we were doing for the day, than rigid structure of, as I wrote, sit down and shut up.

@@christaverduren690 I hate that you had that experience. My son is also on the Spectrum and ADHD and was non-verbal so we started at age 3 as well. Thank GOD our district had hired a specialist for that preschool that happened to be SE spec'ed in Autism so she was able to help us those first few years. Even after being mainstreamed, my son does have trouble often in some subjects if the teachers are rigid and don't understand how ASD kids. It sounds like the majority of your district fell into the latter category. Our district isn't one of the huge ones. Those are the ones up north of us in Cleveland. We have a high school and a half due to a merger and numerous middle and elementary schools so there is more support. From your description it sounds like your district is similar to Cleveland's, and I wish you could have had a better school system. I'm glad that your post-high school years are going more centered and peaceful. From one mom to another who is also on the Spectrum and ADHD herself with health issues I sent you good vibes that the peace continues.

@@Knight-of-Sarcasm And I'm glad you've had that extra help!! My son was nonverbal too. So at 2 I started teaching him "baby ASL". I knew ASL but had no idea there was a "baby version" of it! My son went from a screaming grunting mess (I wasn't too far behind him lol) to watching me like a hawk. It took him a bit longer to do anything, but one day he climbed up on my lap and full on signed tome, "Help, more cookie please." I was so stunned, excited, overwhelmed... I gave him the entire bag! LOL That opened the floodgates for him, and we signed everything we could as I taught him more and more. He was like the robot Number 5 - more input! lol Once he was around kids in a play setting (my friends and family abandoned me once he got his diagnosis and it went from I was a lousy mother and that was why he was the way he was to this kid has legit issues and we want nothing to do with it) with other children who were verbal it blossomed quickly. I sit for hours a day even now, researching all I can about ADHD and autism. Pinterest has so much information from the kids (and adults) who live with this every day. I have it as well I think I wrote that lol Diagnosed in 2019 at 49, so I'm learning so much about myself! I never really thought of myself as 'abnormal' per se, just really quirky. But I can see kids (and teens and adults) now and recognize those traits that make them/us unique. My son is my home health aid, works 30 hours a week for 16$ an hour so he feels great about that. The special needs employment agency we went through told him to his face they couldn't help him get a job because he "refused to make eye contact" WEll after I got done -ripping them apart- educating them on how austistics cannot make eye contact and still follow conversations/instructions I realized this group was just sucking money from the state/gov and were a flop of epic proportions. He's got a ways to go, but I'll never give up on him. NY is just a lousy place for him to be. Other states have better programs and such. Maybe one day we can afford to move lol

@@christaverduren690 Erik had echophasia and so I heard Cars repeated back to me after watching it at least 16x a day, Yo Gabba Gabba, and believe it or not, Smokey and the Bandit! I'm 54 and I haven't been officially diagnosed, but I present all the signs of the ASD female symptoms. Girls/women are misunderstood because often they can do masking and be very social and still have ASD; it's just not the same as boys/men. There's a book I own that's called "Ten things your Autistic Child wants you to know" or something like that. It's on my bookshelf but I might be slightly off on the title. Reading that really helped me back in the late 00's when I was learning about Erik's needs. It also helped that I was working on my MAED and took as many extra classes to help him as I could at my university--phonetics/reading, Special needs, etc were all I was able to schedule. ASL though had a waiting list a mile long and was for the entire U and not just education students. So we learned to understand Erik's requests in other ways. Coping was a HUGE part of what I tried to teach him, and am still teaching him today as he's entering the adult world in two weeks. In teaching him, I learned myself as well as the best thing about him. Erik had a way of looking at the world in wonder and amazement, and things I just took for granted and overlooked he saw as special to him and beautiful and in time I started taking a moment to appreciate the everyday things in a new way. I still try to look at things from his viewpoint as much as I can--the scent of rain, the happy romping of a ESA dog we foster when his owner has to be away and can't have him with him, or the way our own ESA cats are laying in a puddle of sunshine on the bed curled like croissants. These kids are so unique and I love them so much. Other kids and parents just don't understand how much they could learn from our kids (and from us as well as ASD women)!

I love how your videos let me know I am not the only one. And allow me to laugh at the frustrating things. So so accurate right now.

I feel this! I'm the teacher doing during the day, and the single mom supporting during the night. Last night I ran in-between banquets and performances, after having my own class field trip. May is everything all at once!🥴😅

I have a five year old (all the end of year kindergarten things) and her birthday is at the end of May. Add on that I have chronic illness/pain and my mom has kidney disease and could need dialysis sometime in the future. My calender is jam packed and this song is now my theme music for the month 😂❤️

Yep! The play has just finished, choir trip tomorrow, choir show and school trip next week -also the band recital to support classmates. The amount of time AND $$$ I hemorrhage in May rivals December for sure!

Add in trying to get my garden started before it's too late and all the other yard work, and that is so true of my life right now.

Yep. My kids are 2 and 4 and I am already having to color code the calendar to keep track. Music, swim lessons, soccer, and gymnastics all start mid-May. Until then, preschool has 3 events per week for the end of the year.

The running around filming in public makes me laugh thinking about what people see when they go by. 😂 😂 This was a great parody!

I am a teacher, and it is insane on our end too ;) Field trips, field day, BBQ, end-of-year testing, closing our books, graduation (for me, 8th grade), science fair, picture day + zero motivation for the kids.
