My uncle has cerebral palsy and he’s my biggest inspiration. He’s helped raise me and has the biggest heart, he loves to be independent. Many people have been rude to him , spat, thrown stuff etc., it’s so horrible😭, no one should be subjected to this!

How does ellise's voice output work? It doesn't look like she's visibly typing anything, but it does sometimes look like she's moving her mouth in the approximation of the words she wants to say. Obviously I know CP causes involuntary muscle movements, but it looks like her mouth movements are more intentional, so I was curious if they had anything to do with her voice output. Also, she's hilarious lmao

Also, Joe and Abbie bring up really good points about how disability can often be invisible, and why that's often not a good thing. Like when someone assumes that, just because a person can get up from their wheelchair, it automatically means they're faking disability, which is an insane thing to assume about a complete stranger. Honestly, a lot of the ways disabled people prefer to be treated just comes down to like. basic decency and respect?? If you wouldn't go up to a random (assumedly) able-bodied person and start manhandling them and talking down to them, you shouldn't do that to disabled people either! Don't do that to anybody, it's really weird and invasive! This kind of thing seems like common sense to me, but apparently its not. Be thoughtful of people, and if you think they might need help, just ask! It's really that simple.

I have mild cerebral palsy and had to wear plenty on splints during childhood, I'm now in my twenties luckily I don't have to wear them any more but gotta wear these special insoles. Even tho my legs are still fucked up I still managed to get by 😊
