Never had the privilege to weld with an esab out all the years. But I will say my favorite electrode to burn is the esab atom arc. The local welding supply store only supplies lincoln Excalibur, or Washington alloy..needless to say they now have esad electrodes on the shelf.

This is a great informative chanel. I came across this chanel by looking at welder reviews as I'm looking to get a new welder as my old one burnt out. I'm learning a lot about welding as I'm only self taught with using my dads welder as a youngster . Keep up the good work.

Definitely a nice machine. It also certainly doesn't hurt that you were running Sureweld and Atom Arc. I definitely prefer ESAB filler materials over just about anything else.

God, I want a Rebel so bad. I was thinking the 205 so aluminum TIG is an option for me. I'm a pretty new DIYer, but I go hard when I find a new interest. Working with Harbor Freight's Vulcan OmniPro 220 right now, I just switched to it from their Titanium brand Unlimited 200. Vulcan's pretty nice, I think, but I'm sure I'll be blown away when I get a true professional-level machine like the Rebel :)

Hello from Dominican Republic. I have 2 questions. Do the electrode holder comes with the kit or you purchase it separatly? What size of spool do it hold inside?
@Welddotcom
@Welddotcom 6 жыл бұрын
Neil Jean Louis it holds a full 33lb spool and yes, the electrode holder comes with the machine. Only thing that is separate is the foot pedal and TIG torch.

I rang my local welding supply yesterday an was talking to the guy about the 235 ci he said they have had a customer return 2 x Rebel 215 ci that they couldn't fix so they replaced the machine twice, good on ESAB for doing that, but made me wonder about longevity on these welders i researched any problems with these and turns out no many problems. But some have had the screen playing up on them.
@nickr8829

I really like the looks and features of them, but all my local welding supplies kind of just look at me when I ask them about them, even though they sell them. One store says one guy bought the EMP 215ic last year and he does mainly fabrication for Jeep parts, the other one told me a story about how they got burned on a $10,000 school order during the transition from Victor Dynamics to Esab. They both have said the Miller rep is the best, with the Lincoln rep being second. They say Esab doesn't have a local rep so everything is mail order. Like you all that makes me wonder about the longevity of the units and whether it's worth paying the extra for it.

@@nickr8829 I ended up buying an everlast 252 STI A chinese made machine, but what welders these days dont have chinese parts in them! This is the break down of features. MIG/Synergic MIG, AC/DC Pulse TIG, and Stick design. High Frequency and Lift Start AC and DC TIG modes Synergic function MIG automatically adjusts wire speed while voltage is increased or decreased. This maintains a preset ratio of volts and amps that can be tweaked manually by user for best operation. Manual Override of Synergic MIG function allows the user to regain control of at any point to fine tune automatic voltage settings and allows operation in full manual mode if desired. Weld Aluminum, Stainless, or Steel with Synergic MIG function with wire diameter from .023-.045" (for full range of sizes and flux core use, purchase optional drive rolls). 9 channel memory function provides easy saving and recall of your favorite settings. Synergic Spool gun operation capability with optional spool gun. Ideal for welding aluminum. TIG torch and Foot pedal included for TIG. Regulator included. Built in gas solenoid and connections for TIG eliminates need for gas valve torch used by competitors True DC CC/CV Multi-Process design eliminates needing or carrying multiple units for one job. AC capability on TIG allows user to weld aluminum. Industry first for this type design. Pulse TIG capability increases control and weld quality. Compact and light weight design makes the unit extremely portable, ideal for on-site fabrication. Adjustable Burn-back control keeps the wire energized after wire has stopped feeding to allow the wire to melt back to a desired length without retrimming wire before restarts. 12" Diameter wire spool capacity maintains portability while maintaining productivity. Adjustable MIG Wave arc force control manages slope/ inductance and fine tunes arc characteristics. Adjustable stick Arc Force and New Hot Start controls allows the user to dial in desired Stick welding performance. TIG Up and Down slope allows the user to control the end of the welding cycle. 2T/4T torch trigger/latch function offers stepped control welding with TIG and MIG. Adjustable Pre and Post flow for TIG and MIG operation improves over all weld quality. 200 Amps of MIG and TIG power offer more than enough power to get the job done. 200 amps of stick welding power can be used with up to 3/16" welding rods. AC Wave form control with Advanced Aquare, Triangular, and Soft Square Waves

@@trg3761 I've been looking at the Everlast 211Si since I don't really need AC TIG. I bought one of the Vulcan Omnipro 220s last week just to try it out, and I really like it but if I do start getting into TIG I would like the HF start, and thanks to carpal tunnel\hand issues I could really use the 4T feature of the MIG. When trying to weld up runners on a 4' long land plane I'm building for my tractor I had to do it in 3-4 sections otherwise my hand would cramp up. I've put about 10lbs of different rods and 12lbs of ER70S-6 through it since I bought it, and it's been great. I really like the nice color display, but it is kind of just a nicety not a necessity. How do you like the 252STI so far?

@@nickr8829 I havent used the machine yet cos im working interstate, and i need gas, but as soon as I get back home I'll let you know. I got the water cooled torch and water cooler as well. iv never had a welder with so many functions and I really want to learn tig.. When I was in high school about 40 years ago I learned to braze with oxy acetylene. And have not done any since, but iv done lots of Mig and stick. These days it's a hobby I enjoy I just hope I don't have to many problem with it.

Don't get me wrong, I like Esab. But I'm a bit confused. The machine told you to check the polarity when you went into stick mode in the menu. So you changed the polarity to DCEP. I can understand that for 6010 and 7018 rods. But does it also tell you to change to DCEN for 6012 or 6013. Where i live we do a lot of open root with 7016 and 7018 on DCEN. Does the machine have a program for that? I think it's just a gimmick. All the information a weldor needs is on the lable on the tin/box of electrodes . The generic small memory bank of this welder is of no use.
