If it ends up being a failure, and you don’t want to spend the cash on a halo 30, I’ve been running a torq locker on mine with 32” stickies for some time and it’s been a great alternative. You get the advantages of a spool but with no steering input in 2wd and you can “break” the lock in a bind with brake input. You would have to source a visco dif but it is something to think about.
@_606Offroad2 жыл бұрын
Problem with doing that is you have to downgrade from the stronger smart lok axles to visco axles

Hey man I have a 21 max believe it’s the visco lock. Can you weld it the same way?
@TheCanAmCrew Жыл бұрын
You can weld it but in a different way. I can tell you from experience the visco axles aren’t strong enough to hold up to a locked diff though.

What's holding the bearing in on the clutch side? I'm thinking of trying this, but putting clutches in to hold bearing in. Having to bore on gear out where weld is...
@TheCanAmCrew2 жыл бұрын
The bearing is held in by a snap ring but Leaving the clutches in won’t have any negative effects so either way would be just fine.
@jameswallace20642 жыл бұрын
@@TheCanAmCrew ohh, I see the snap ring now. I'm going to go ahead and put clutch pack in and see if I won't need the speed sensor bypass kit. I'll try running it in 2wd or full lock mode... Thanks for the response!

No, those are cages we built.

How did the seal for the axles work out
@TheCanAmCrew2 жыл бұрын
The side cases aren’t touched so the seals aren’t messed with.

Have you had any trouble with your fox shocks in your 7-8k miles? I have a 22 DS turbo, 450 miles on it and the front passenger reservoir is leaking bad. Machine hasn't been abused in the slightest. Pretty sad to say the least.

No I haven’t had any issues at all. Just hit 9000 miles.

@@TheCanAmCrew I'll be honest I jumped it a few times today at Majestic in PA but little baby jumps maybe 2 or 3 feet off the ground. Nothing a brand new 27k+ machine shouldn't handle. Never came close to hitting bottom. Must be a defective reservoir.

Leaking is common on the fox shocks. That’s why most suspension companies will change the needle type valve to a schrader valve when they rebuild the shocks.

Is it the added weight of the 35's that's stressing the drivetrain?
@TheCanAmCrew2 жыл бұрын
No, just the terrain we ride. The side gears can’t handle side load. He was breaking diffs on stock 32s. The gears were strengthened on 2022 models but are still breaking. The smart lok is great for most types of riding but once you start thrashing on it or putting it in a bind it’s weak.

U can't really weld the smartlok successfully anyway. Blown budget tried it and it didn't work. Jus sayn.

Blown budget didn’t do it the way we did. The way we welded it makes it bullet proof. They welded the spider gears which created a weak link.

I'm not gonna be able to hold on to the stirring wheel I did this It will take the wheel out of your hands
@TheCanAmCrew2 жыл бұрын
@@joebuzzard6911 it’s no different than having a halo 30 when it’s locked. Any fully locked front diff will be stiff to steer. Steering isn’t that bad with his being welded and mine being a halo 30. We just tested it out at wellsville again and it was great.
@scottfatta81332 жыл бұрын
@@joebuzzard6911 I was worried about that myself but I have no issues driving it. My 16 year old daughter has no trouble driving it. The steering feel is stiffer when driving slow. The only thing you have to remember is while you are driving you can not let go of the steering wheel because it will automatically return to center since it is now spooled.
