Angels rearranging the furniture.... I like it! When your by yourself, like I am as well, we can get pretty creative!!Nice job Jim, and as you well know, and have clearly expressed, "GOOD HELP IS NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND"! Nice job.

Good help is hard to find! Nice project that I'm sure you'll find many uses for even after the barn is finished.

Jim My Dad used a variation of that old farmer's tip with engine oil preservative. He always changed his engine oil himself and he used to pour the used undiluted sump oil over fence strainer posts to fight the ants and termites. After it soaked in and dried in the sun, it went black and looked like creosote treatment, but it never smelled as bad as that horrible stuff. The lifting jib turned out to be a great practical solution for a one-man problem - safe and effective. Thanks for sharing.

Another recipe is linseed oil mixed with diesel.

Here's a little trick to share; heat a good long section of the flat bar dark red and immediately tack the end and weld out. After it cools it'll be nice and tight!

How would you estimate the weight capacity of something like this? I aim to do a similar thing for building a log house. By adding the length you are increase the leverage over the bucket.. I suppose that needs to estimate the lift strength and the clamp pressure of the bucket.

I've had a 'gin pole' around since about 1975. Using some imagination with your rigging, as you have, a "one man show" can move right along. The project is looking good. Thanks for the video! ....13

You, like most honeys out there, did a honey-don't-do with the honey-do parts... That tends to get Honey the really bad things on the list a bump up in priority on the list. At least that is how it works in most hives. I tend to write what the stuff was allocated for... It has helped this worker bee take less lumps over the years... Just food for though.

What do you estimate the weight carrying capacity of that boom pole set up?
@bcbloc028 жыл бұрын
Good to know I am not the only one that has help that gets sidetracked and doesn't show up. Got to ask though won't the Deere backhoe reach 14ft with the bucket out? It would have to be close I think. Regardless boom poles are super handy and a good solution. If you need to do more weight I imagine the backhoe could handle a lot more.
@MrPragmaticLee8 жыл бұрын
I thought about the backhoe too, but without any help, it'd be kinda hard to have to back the backhoe everywhere.
@frednewman21628 жыл бұрын
Let me just ask, because I saw it in background! Why didn't you use backhoe? Lot more maneuverable, so if you were out of position you could just swung arm instead of having to move tractor.

just started watching your channel - nice job, question, why the flat stock vs. a piece of rebar, wouldn't the rebar have added more strength?
@DoRiteFabrication7 жыл бұрын
Ken Adams, because I had flat stock lying around, and the rest of the setup would crumble before the flat stock failed in tension. That whole project was built out of my bootie pile of junk.
