Walking the cup is such a simple thing, that discussing nuances of it seems like discussing how to hold the spoon when eating soup

Good tips. It seems like nobody talks about what to do with the other hand. how do you feed the rod?
@weldtubeАй бұрын
We will do another video on that topic which is very important. But basically with your other hand you feed the wire👍

I had lay it down and walk over it 😊 I prefer 1/8th filler esp for capping just for that reason

Ask 10 pipe welders how they do this. They'll have 10 different ways.
@ZincOxideGingerАй бұрын
And each one will tell you that there is the only correct way.

@ZincOxideGinger Got that a 100% right

Are you "actively" feeding filler rod or letting the puddle consume what it wants?

What number of lenses do you use?
@weldtubeАй бұрын
We use our WeldTube High Visibility HD lens and they are available from shades 9 - 14. Picking a shade is going to depend on preference, how good eyesight is and the process you’re welding on.
@chrisplayz253Ай бұрын
Prob best is 11, maybe 10 for under 110amps (just a guide)

My biggest issue with walking the cup is slipping even when putting almost no pressure on the torch.
@palmerhowe3137Ай бұрын
Keep your head in front of the torch looking back at it at all times. You’re slipping because your body position isn’t changing but your arm is moving forward. Makes ya slip

@@palmerhowe3137Thanks for that tip, I’m a week 1 tig welder who has welded with other processes for years but always avoided tig until now. Feels good to finally ignore my fear of failure and pursue a goal I gave up on a long time ago. This channel has been the most helpful resource next to my boss, who has allowed me to practice on the job and sneaks me wire to use without a rod slip. Thanks to your advice, I’m looking forward to going back in to work to work on walking the cup.

Almost $200 for those chopped pipeliner helmets 😮🤯
@weldtubeАй бұрын
Yes sir. Every hood is custom hand made with original Pipeliners at our Texas facility. Leather is high quality and hand stretched, molded and cured. The plastic fasteners are replaced with our laser engraved aluminum fasteners. It also comes with our best selling High Visibility HD Lens. These things will last you forever.

3/32... Enough video for me.

Why
@TransAmDrifterАй бұрын
@Jack-tp5ji I just can't stand retarded units. 2,4mm is so freakin' easier. I don't have 32 fingers, or 8, or 16 to imagine what 1/4, 3/32 or 13/16 actually looks like. I have 10. Ten! F**kin' 10 fingers and that's a great hint You have "at hand" everywhere You go. Metric system is intuitive and easy. Measuring anything by units that don't divide/multiply/intersect by themselves is a waste of time.

You need to do some editing. A loud beep blew my ear buds out my ears. I'm hard of hearing and have my volume up. Be nice to people hard of hearing and edit ignorant beeps.
