Hey brother just a tip I did with my 6048..since your lines run in your basement, tap into one of those and put a valve to fill your boiler..then no messing with a garden hose when it's cold out if you need water in the future..i absolutely love it!

Many many thanks Jay. To me, this video is more valuable than you can imagine. Liked the way you took us through every step and figured it out. Now I know what to do and what to look for when this happens to me too. It will happen to all of us eventually. Now, I am planning on getting a couple of fuses and a display as backups for when it does happen. Thanks to Bruce too for the assistance and parts supplier. You may not know it yet, but this video is gold.

I was happy to make it cause this portion of the machine I don’t know about. I’ve never messed with the computer or the temp sensor so officially I’ve changed every part that’s changeable on this machine hahah it’s a nice feeling knowing it legit inside and out!

I replaced that same module a few years ago when I had an electrical problem. Turned out the malfunction was caused by a mouse that got into (literally) the plug in receptacle and the module was actually not harmed. Note, I am typing this as I listen to the video.

Hey man I’ve been there! Fired up my central classic last week. I’m a newbie. 2nd year. Started a fire and water temp coming up nicely. All looks good. Go down to the basement, cycle all my valves, and no hot water coming in! Run back and forth to the boiler and basement like 40 times 😂. After about an hour, and a boil over on the boiler, I’m convinced the circulator pump is bad. Stay with me here. So now my boiler is boiling over and I have to get the wood out! So take all the burning wood out of the boiler and place it all over the driveway (it was really dry here and I was afraid I’d start a brush fire), call my boiler dealer and order a pump. Pick up the pump for $250, install it, fire the boiler again, and same thing!! Now I’m spitting chicklets, cursing, and my wife goes down with me to the basement. She says, “are you sure you turned on all the valves?” As she said this I realize I missed one that was hidden behind the water heater, flip it, and here comes the hot water. It was a real Clark Griswold moment! So my point is, don’t be ashamed and always listen to your wife. And of course now I have a backup circulating pump 🤟

So when I first inherited my CB 6048 when O bought my house in 2010, the people at the stove store made me buy a extra solenoid for the door damper so I would have it when it goes. I was told that it happens often. I still have the new part in basement. Never needed it. I don't know why you wouldn't think that the solenoid was the problem if you were getting power to it. If your getting power to it then it should be activated.

If the fuse is mostly blown, with just a bit of connection left, it will show a proper supply voltage when no current is being drawn, but as soon as the device switches on, the voltage downstream of the fuse will drop due to the resistance to current flow.

One thing I have learned (the hard and expensive way) is to always check the simple or easiest things first whether trouble shoot an antique tractor or an expensive laboratory chemistry analyzer. Don't assume you know what is wrong from the start. Can't tell you how many times I have jumped into an electrical problem on one of my tractors just to find the problem to be a poor ground wire contact after spend plenty on unneeded parts.

Just bring your water level to the bottom of the site glass with a cold start. I realize your water is not cold but maybe cool by the time you refill. When you come back to operating temp your water level should be near full not over flowing at 185 degrees. Add more rust inhibitor too. I have been running the same unit since 2006. I hope you just had a boil over. Look for sources of air leakage, around the door, the draft door needs cleaned as creosote build up there can cause air leaks. Build smaller fires in the shoulder seasons. I approach my OWB every morning with my fingers crossed knowing it has to be nearing its end of life , so far so good. Good luck (although it's not luck) but you know what I mean.

The first thing that came to my mind was when was the last time you replaced the rope gasket around the door? I have had to do that a couple of times when it has overheated. I would also consider replacing that circulator after the water got that hot. That really is not that much water to lose considering the temp was probably over 200 at some point.
