As a biology student who isn't failing: Notice how she said ovaries and testicles. She did not say sperm and ovum. She destroyed her own point within the first 5 seconds. Yes accidents happen and people develop organs they weren't supposed to but people are only ever able to produce one type of gamete. And anyway, this argument is completely irrelevant because its usually not intersex people saying they want to transition. It's regular "cis" people using their experiences to try and justify why people should be ok with them taking hormones AND why it should be ok to give hormones to kids (among many other things) Stop appropriating people's genetic disorders to further your politics.

What we could really do with is an actual biology teacher to straighten them both out, without treating either like retards just because their understanding of biology is incomplete (that is quite common afterall). No one is sure if self-fertilisation has ever happened within our species. It just hasn't be observed. But it can't be ruled out either. It has been seen in other species. And we certainly do see such things as the human XX/XY chimera, which comes awfully close. So the real breakdown in communication here appears to be a confusion between the facts of sexual reproduction in general and what has (or has not) been observed in humans specifically. She still needs educating (to refine her understanding). She is not the only one. This is a very complex topic.

Though, there have been some stories of hermaphrodites with genetic viability, none have been confirmed by modern tests that I'm aware of. Technically by what she is saying that could be possible (theoretically), but I am pretty certain there are no cases of this occurring. Her saying that it happens means she should do more research. Now, without sufficient evidence on either side, it's all up to he-said-she-said, words pretty much... And what he did, did indeed manipulate her to doubt her own sanity. I mean i've googled that topic many times, and i'm pretty sure true hermaphrodites do not exist, based on several sources of information, so he wasn't lying, but he wasn't backing up his counter-claim, and was relying on his own confidence and posture to establish authority on the subject, manipulating the girl to doubt her own sanity. I'm not trying to paint the guy as a villain here, i kinda don't agree with the word "Gaslighting" and it's definition, because it can be applied to any conversation where opposing opinions are trying to debunk eachother... That one guy had his underdeveloped ovaries removed when he was younger due to the immense pain he was in and even now he still cant have kids. He will never be able to have kids. No, intersex is not a valid gender. To be valid it has to be able to reproduce and intersexes can not do that. So its definitely not as common as being a ginger nor is it something that has to be catered towards. It something to be treated, and that only helps the pain. So what does "bimodal" even mean? That man shouldn’t be teaching anyone. Where is this even?? Somewhere in the south? Countless studies have shown signs that transgender people have brains that are more similar to their experienced gender before they ever have any medical treatment. It’s not a choice, people are born that way and there is plenty of proof. This is just one from a decade ago because frankly I don’t have time to sit here all day and post medical studies that prove this is not a choice. “Spanish investigators-led by psychobiologist Antonio Guillamon of the National Distance Education University in Madrid and neuropsychologist Carme Junqué Plaja of the University of Barcelona-used MRI to examine the brains of 24 female-to-males and 18 male-to-females-both before and after treatment with cross-sex hormones. Their results, published in 2013, showed that even before treatment the brain structures of the trans people were more similar in some respects to the brains of their experienced gender than those of their natal gender. For example, the female-to-male subjects had relatively thin subcortical areas (these areas tend to be thinner in men than in women). Male-to-female subjects tended to have thinner cortical regions in the right hemisphere, which is characteristic of a female brain. (Such differences became more pronounced after treatment.) This is horrifying. I’m a cis woman and it’s a nightmare every day realizing there are so many people who will do anything they can to ensure the suffering of others. They can’t let people live their lives as long as they’re not hurting anyone.

In the case of hermaphroditism, only one of the, either the testicular or ovarian, organs may function normally and that is a rarified trait. It's far more likely that an individual suffering from a hermaphroditic disorder would be completely sterile. i dont see how what she said was stupid nor is she learning stupid things in class. Her question is surprisingly based on factual cases where people are born as intersex individuals. This is medically studied and does happen; it is a rarity, but does happen. I think her question was a genuine one to see how this issue fits in with matt's disregard for transgenderism. He simply stated that her question doesn't quite align with his speech on being transgender. However, I don't think she stated anything dumb or not scientific in her question.

@@bd1043 I was referring to the tendency of our universities to push a leftist mindset onto their students. Yes, there have been cases but for her to bring up hermaphrodites under this context implies her feelings that it is relevant to the "fluidity" of gender.
