I love how respectful Walsh is. Didn't make her feel dumb, and when the audience was being rude to her he didn't get a big head like some speakers would. Instead he told a light joke to loosen people up, told her it was a good question to ask, then explained why he disagreed. We need more Matt Walshes in politics.

What we could really do with is an actual biology teacher to straighten them both out, without treating either like retards just because their understanding of biology is incomplete (that is quite common afterall). No one is sure if self-fertilisation has ever happened within our species. It just hasn't be observed. But it can't be ruled out either. It has been seen in other species. And we certainly do see such things as the human XX/XY chimera, which comes awfully close. So the real breakdown in communication here appears to be a confusion between the facts of sexual reproduction in general and what has (or has not) been observed in humans specifically. She still needs educating (to refine her understanding). She is not the only one. This is a very complex topic.

As a biology student who isn't failing: Notice how she said ovaries and testicles. She did not say sperm and ovum. She destroyed her own point within the first 5 seconds. Yes accidents happen and people develop organs they weren't supposed to but people are only ever able to produce one type of gamete. And anyway, this argument is completely irrelevant because its usually not intersex people saying they want to transition. It's regular "cis" people using their experiences to try and justify why people should be ok with them taking hormones AND why it should be ok to give hormones to kids (among many other things) Stop appropriating people's genetic disorders to further your politics.

Yep, it's heavily overpriced in the US. Needs to be reformed heavily to make more available so that we can expand and upgrade society with higher specialized skills without the massive debt load. Then we'd have a lot better education and information about these things in the common thought because people wouldn't be stuck inside confused delusions and backwards thoughts of echo chambers but instead taught actual science that they could then propagate and disseminate to the general public of other fields. Though, there have been some stories of hermaphrodites with genetic viability, none have been confirmed by modern tests that I'm aware of. And the hillarity of asexual reproduction on something as complex as a human is an utter nightmare for the children so even if possible it'd be highly highly discouraged to go f yourself without birth control.

Birth defects have EVERYTHING to do with transgenderism. Transgenderism is a physical, structural birth defect, visible on MRI. Men and women have different ratios of white matter and grey matter in their brains. Trans patients' brains display a white-to-grey ratio that more closely matches the gender opposite to their body's sex. Trans patients are living proof that gendered behavior/expression/preferences are biologically hardwired. Nope. Not only should they not be bailed out or waived, but the federal government needs to get out of the student loan and grant business completely. For the most part uni is fine. The first degree is only the first level of higher education. Don't forget people are at different levels (kind of presuming she is at lower end). She is indeed wrong in that people with those types of issues cannot both "impregnate" and "be impregnated" themselves, for example (I don't believe there are any cases to date). Technically by what she is saying that could be possible (theoretically), but I am pretty certain there are no cases of this occurring. Her saying that it happens means she should do more research. If she gets through the whole degree she might be fine... you only require about 40% to "pass" anyway!! She just made an error - that is all; she is still studying.

That man shouldn’t be teaching anyone. Where is this even?? Somewhere in the south? Countless studies have shown signs that transgender people have brains that are more similar to their experienced gender before they ever have any medical treatment. It’s not a choice, people are born that way and there is plenty of proof. This is just one from a decade ago because frankly I don’t have time to sit here all day and post medical studies that prove this is not a choice. “Spanish investigators-led by psychobiologist Antonio Guillamon of the National Distance Education University in Madrid and neuropsychologist Carme Junqué Plaja of the University of Barcelona-used MRI to examine the brains of 24 female-to-males and 18 male-to-females-both before and after treatment with cross-sex hormones. Their results, published in 2013, showed that even before treatment the brain structures of the trans people were more similar in some respects to the brains of their experienced gender than those of their natal gender. For example, the female-to-male subjects had relatively thin subcortical areas (these areas tend to be thinner in men than in women). Male-to-female subjects tended to have thinner cortical regions in the right hemisphere, which is characteristic of a female brain. (Such differences became more pronounced after treatment.) This is horrifying. I’m a cis woman and it’s a nightmare every day realizing there are so many people who will do anything they can to ensure the suffering of others. They can’t let people live their lives as long as they’re not hurting anyone.

Ill admit Im not the oldest guy around but Ive been around. Traveled quite a bit for work and I have yet to see as many intersex people as I have gingers. Ive met a grand total of one intersex and roughly a few hundred gingers. That one guy had his underdeveloped ovaries removed when he was younger due to the immense pain he was in and even now he still cant have kids. He will never be able to have kids. No, intersex is not a valid gender. To be valid it has to be able to reproduce and intersexes can not do that. So its definitely not as common as being a ginger nor is it something that has to be catered towards. It something to be treated, and that only helps the pain. So what does "bimodal" even mean? Can you give a definition? And what societies have this third gender? Are they first world or third world? How do they define it? How long have they been using it?

Uuuh, i'm not entirely sure you know what gaslighting is, lol. She believed and claimed true hermaphrodites existed, the dude said "No, they don't exist." without any substantial proof or evidence on hand to back it up. Now, without sufficient evidence on either side, it's all up to he-said-she-said, words pretty much... And what he did, did indeed manipulate her to doubt her own sanity. I mean i've googled that topic many times, and i'm pretty sure true hermaphrodites do not exist, based on several sources of information, so he wasn't lying, but he wasn't backing up his counter-claim, and was relying on his own confidence and posture to establish authority on the subject, manipulating the girl to doubt her own sanity. So... he was technically gaslighting her... because that's how gaslighting is defined, to manipulate someone by psychological means into doubting their own sanity. I'm not trying to paint the guy as a villain here, i kinda don't agree with the word "Gaslighting" and it's definition, because it can be applied to any conversation where opposing opinions are trying to debunk eachother... Gaslighting, is technically synonymous with discussions and/or arguments. -.-' It's fucking stupid, i think perhaps they need to change the definition to include intent, not just actions... @@ubermom I think it is known that a true hermaphrodite can be a boy or girl genetically. True hermaphroditism is exceedingly rare occurring in 0.001% of births. the amount with a "Mosaicism" is even lower. and the ones that do its normally a disproportionate ratio of x:y or y:x its not like its 50/50. Anyways it is truly irrelevant in the transgender discussion. Literally no one has a problem with a true hermaphrodite feeling like there parents or doctor made the wrong decision for them at birth. If you notice not a single "trans" activist is a hermaphrodite probably because hermaphrodites are not transgender...

When the entire human population of the planet was only 20,000 these deformities were unheard of. It's because we have a population of almost 8 billion that statistically these edge cases happen. We also have a media that is fixated on the unusual and it starts to look like it's an issue when in reality no one should spend more than a minute thinking about this topic. In practical terms it's a waste of time but at least the bankers and cronies have something to distract the population while they rob us blind.

Of course, the hysteria promoted around such extremely rare events as school shootings, terrorist attacks and invisible underground Nazi cells leads me to be believe that some people are worse than others at comparing human-scale numbers (dozens, hundreds) to millions and billions.

If your going to argue a topic ,at least have more than surfacy idea of it, because surely going to school never proves you're an expert... at anything.. In office jobs all they need do is say the right trendy words and phrases and they're in... Things like "moving forward" And if they abuse vocal fry heavily, they may get a management position. And all of that would be really funny... if it were a joke.

Or a (dishonest) salesman who uses KBB/NADA and deducts from your value for things missing, instead of adding the value when they are there. KBB and NADA are used more as a reference by both buyer and seller. In the end something is worth what someone will pay. But you rarely will find a salesman accepting less than he paid, even if he clearly overpaid.

Well, she messed up a little before that when she said people are born with "just a y" chromosome. That isn't compatible with life for obvious reasons - there is no analogue on the y chromosome for the majority of the important genes on the x, men are completely dependent on their single x chromosome which is why they're much more vulnerable to sex linked genetic disorders.
