Absolutely! I am going to experiment more with projecting shapes onto people's faces and skin. I think that could get some cool results, especially for photography.

Good explanation on using this optical snoot. Do you happen to know the size of the Gobo for this unit? Thanks!
@TrentonHoshikoCinematography11 ай бұрын
I just measured mine and they are 2.25 inches in diameter. Thanks for your nice comment, much appreciated!

i just neend to know that can i use this with my ad 600 flash?
@TrentonHoshikoCinematography3 ай бұрын
According to the B&H listing, that flash is bowen's mount compatible, so the snoot *should* should work with it.

From what I see of the review it's the best unit out there. I have the Ambitful AL-16 which has a better system for adjusting the gobos as well as control of the lens and filters. Another point is the heat that is generated by these units. The Wellmaking lacks any vents to help dissipate the heat whereas the Ambitful does have vents. Perhaps you should compare the two optical snoots sometime.
@TrentonHoshikoCinematography4 ай бұрын
Thanks for the tip about the Ambitful! Luckily, with my lights this unit didn't create too much heat, although some vents would probably be a nice addition - as long as they don't cause light leaks. If I get the opportunity to compare the two, that would be interesting!

@@TrentonHoshikoCinematography At the moment I don't have the Wellmaking unit but am doing a review in a mag we have in the UK called Film and Video Maker. The article should be coming out at the end of the year. However it's only sent to IAC members. Once I've finished the review I could send it to you for you to compare.
@TrentonHoshikoCinematography4 ай бұрын
That is awesome, I haven't heard of that magazine in particular (probably because of the membership aspect), but it seems like a great resource. Really cool that you're doing a review for them! I'd love to see your review when it comes out. I know there are some differences and similarities between optical snoots and optical condensers, so that would be a quite interesting read! :)

Does this fit on a Godox AD600. I’m having a hard time figuring it out 😭

If you are talking about this one www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1383479-REG/godox_ad600pro_witstro_all_in_one_outdoor.html/overview or this one www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1342117-REG/godox_ad600bm_manual_lithium_flash_with.html (there appear to be several sub models that are slightly different, these are not affiliate links) then it *should* work because they both have bowens mounts for accessories and this Wellmaking snoot has a bowens mount. I am not familiar personally with those lights, so I don't know how good the mounts are, but it looks like they are compatible from a mount standpoint. Hope this helps you out!

@@FrescoFilmz From what I can tell on their website the AD400 has a bowens mount and should be compatible with this snoot! More info: www.godox.com/product-d/AD400Pro.html Hope that helps!

Happy I could help! Bowens mounts are great because they are pretty standard now between heads and accessories, but it is always good to check the technical specs to make sure it is listed.

Does this come WITH a lens? (If so which one?) I see you linked to three different one. Which did you prefer?
@TrentonHoshikoCinematography11 ай бұрын
I'm not sure which 3 different ones you are saying I linked to? But no worries, this is the Wellmaking Optical Snoot and has the lens attached inside the mechanism, it is ready to be attached to your lampo and used immediately without anything else. There are optical snoots that you can buy that accept Canon EF lenses, but I didn't like the idea of that and went with this one because the lens was attached to the unit and didn't have to be purchased separately. Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions! :)

I am trying to get a custom gobo cut for mine and am unable to find the specs for the gobo to order. I see below you mentioned 2.25 in in diameter, but I need more specific specs with thickness and artwork size as well. Do you happen to know that or were there details in the manual? Thank you so much!
@TrentonHoshikoCinematography10 ай бұрын
@BumbleBeards When I answered the sizing question before I hadn't even though to check out the manual. The listed diameter there is 58mm/2.3 inches. It does not list the other measurements though. If it helps, I measured them as: .3333mm thick (6 of them stacked together was 2mm), the max height of the design was 3.5cm, but most designs were closer to a 3cm height/diameter. Hope that might help a bit, I wish I had calipers to get very very fine measurements, but don't have any right now.
