How to pump some life into this game in one single step: MAKE ALL THE CHARACTERS FREE! One of the reasons why Marvel Rivals is getting such buzz as of late is that they're NOT paywalling their characters, just the cosmetics. So just open up the toybox so I pick my favourite character & then I'll pay for some costumes & etc. if they appeal to me.

I think was really kills multiversus for me is the complete lack of things to do. It's just the fighting and sure rift mode exists and is basically event matches from smash to an extent but that's practically it from what I've seen. Which is weird because of the existence of reindog a character made specifically for Multiversus who seems like he exists to hint at a story more but nothing of the sort has been revealed or talked about for some reason.

I think something that'd help Multiverus a lot is [in addition to the hitbox and online messes it's suffering from] if they finally give us more single-player modes to play into. That was the one edge Rifts had back when they were still new, but now the novelty for it has worn off. Why not bring back the arcade mode the beta had? Make some modes dedicated to the mini games that were used in the Rifts like the golf and vollyball games? Maybe a boss rush mode? Just *something* to do aside from online and Rifts. That was the biggest reason Nick All Star Brawl 1 flopped as hard as it did, and the sequel went and conquered that problem. Could it save Multiversus? Doubtful. But it'd definitely help it out I think

The only platform fighters I see still surviving is Rivals of Aether 1 and Brawlhalla. The former is all thanks to modding and being relatively cheap along with dedicated rollback netcode servers. The latter is doing its free-to-play service in a way it benefits everyone, even those who won't spend a dime. Someone did the math and you can get a Fighter in Brawlhalla WAY quicker than in Multiversus. Not to mention if you want to keep playing but don't grind, you can just drop $20 and unlock everyone right away like you're paying for the actual game.

the problem with this game is that they marketed the game as competitive, but changed the gameplay so its floaty and less competitive, forgot that plateform fighters in general are heavily casual based games, has zero casual content to do with friends (no fun items, no wacky stages , no way to change how battles work), and way too many payed content walls. This game had everything it needed to succeded the IP, the Money, and the hype. Yet here we are. when will people learn, if u make a plateform fighter game, dont try and make it melee, make it smash ultimate and u will have fucking money u will get a fan base. the only reason smash is still where its at is because no developers for some reason understand they need fun goofy content in a plateform fighter and the competitive aspects need to come as a by product of that fun content. there isnt a single smash game that showcases tech in it while being teased. now look at all these games that wanna be melee they make the fact u can wave dash, wave land ,etc as big selling points, next thing u know there dead.

I also have the founder's pack, but I couldn't even be bothered to finish the battle pass this season. The grind keeps getting worse, and PFG/WB tries to get as much out of the whales as possible. Sadly i was the crossover between Multiversus' fan and Beetlejuice fan but i had given up on the game well before he came out. FYI most of things classed as "bugs" were actually stated by the devs in their discord to be features that were made as intended and were changing them due to fan feedback or changing things back to how the game was in the beta.

the in fight design, and move set creativity of each character is literally sum of the most impressive stuff i’ve ever seen. The decisions of which new characters r added also hold back the game WILDLY.

Season 2 of the relaunch is when it really hit me how much of a greedy, grindy mess MultiVersus is. Everything with the new ranked mode, the BS mission requirements, and single player objectives locked behind paid seasonal skins (that were all incredibly stupid) or Gems that needed to be maxed out in level. I finished the season battle pass, spent the rest of my limited time seasonal shop currency, and decided that's the last I'll be playing of MultiVersus. They'll need something big to bring me back.

Im over the complaining on not starting with fighters. It took me bout 3 or 4 days to have enough fighter points to buy 3 or 4 fighters. As "regular" player i now have 10 fighters and 15k+ fighter points. 10k gleamium. Every perk i could want. I spent 10 bucks on this game.

The game has lost 98% of its players on Steam since launch, and counting. That is pretty substantial. Free games like this rely on big player numbers and big spenders. Maybe there are enough whales pouring their wallets out to keep the game afloat, hard to say, but it's not a good sign that the players bleeding out doesn't seem to be stopping.

@@HOTD108_ Smash Bros. doesn't have in-game currency though. You pay for the character, and can play as them immediately. With MultiVersus, you can't directly purchase characters/skins. You have to pay for in-game currency first (not to mention there's like 5 different variations)

@@HOTD108_ I'd say a live service game is designed in such a way it creates the illusion of 'I can get everything I want for free if I just play enough' and if you go through with it, you just make yourself miserable and cave-in to whip out the wallet. Though if you're REALLY unlucky, you can't just buy the new thing you want, you have to go buy the Premium Currency exclusive to the game and then use that to buy the new thing you wanted. Rinse and repeat every month following the game's release until it shuts down.

Studios need to learn, that if you want to beat Smash, you actually have to compete with Smash. That means a decent budget, a seasoned development team and don't just gun for the competitive side. You should have some fun modes included, especially, when your IP would attract the casual side.
