Nightsister magic REALLY should have not been introduced into the series. It essentially serves as an unexplained plot solver that writers can whip out to "explain" things that make no actual sense, like how the witches in Ashoka could pinpoint her location easily when she was using the force, yet couldn't find Ezra when he's been using nothing but the force as a weapon the entire time.

Remember that boba Fett didn't just fall into one sarlac pit, but fell into multiple sarlac pits after return of the Jedi and then became the mandalore. That Palpatine also returned in the EU. And you are absolutely right Chee would bend over backwards to try and make everything fit into Canon there was a game boy advanced game for episode 2 or at the end and it can kills dooku and for some reason he felt the need to try and shove that into the canon and say that it was a force projection that he killed. Whereas his new counterpart Pablo Hidalgo just kind of glosses over these Canon inconsistencies and it happens way more frequently. I'm absolutely in shock that neither Legends or Canon have brought back Mace windu after he fell out the window
@CT-3169 ай бұрын
@@klaykid117 Exactly. Legends handled some retcons very well by, like I said, using entire story arcs as a way to do so (e. g. The Dreadnaughts of Rendilii being used to retcon the mandalorian Jedi prison ships in Dark Empire; Jano Fett Open Seasons being used to retcon the Jaster Mereel name, the Republic Comics incorporating the poisoning of Honaghar-or however you spell it, screw Star Wars naming conventions-into Quinlon Vos's story arc with Aylaa and Bly by having the CIS be the ones responsible since they were big into chemical warfare back in the CWMMP, while also having the Noghri fight clones in phase II armor, helping to patch the bad dating system by making it to where when they said they fought stormtroopers they were actually initially fighting clones...the list of this occurrences in the EU is quite large). And even with TCW retcons, you had entire massive portions of the Book of Sith and The Bounty Hunter Code that painstakingly patches the lore with the Nightsisters and Mandalorian cultures and planet, even including in-universe margin notes from Luke acknowledging that Luke's encounter with the Dathomirian witches doesn't exactly line us with how they were during Talzin's time. And then you have Chee and Pablo... Who did the bare minimum. You know that God awful retcon that crunches almost the ENTIRE CWMMP timeline into just 1-2 months? That was friggin' Pablo.

Qui-Gon Jinn: When's my turn?
@rayvenkman20879 ай бұрын
Remember how people back then said the original Star Wars Expanded Universe was full of plotholes and contradictions when the Disney Star Wars Universe seemed hopefully promising in a time before TLJ and RoS came along to effectively make the TFA’s problems even worse or give birth to the farce we’re seeing now? To think I had fell into that trap once... Got me to believe that the people at Disney knew what they were doing and overlook the fundamental rule: Once JJ Abrams is involved, it all goes downhill from here.

Exactly. I'm all for respecting a creator's vision and therefor the canon, but when all that gets thrown out the window since it's decided by a boardroom of corporate execs, it really begs the question of 'why should we even care?' It's not an artistic vision, it's a business decision.

Almost every Sith Lord has aspired to cheat death, they've been trying to figure that secret for a long time, only a few have figured it out but with costs. To say the Night Sisters had this secret of cheating death, this whole minimizes the Sith's aspirations as they could just go to Dathomir.
@wingedhussar85529 ай бұрын
Not to mention it also breaks the moral themes of those stories. The Sith quest for immortality is universally portrayed as selfish, either because of the desire to extend their lives at the expense of others or because they are refusing to let go of someone they are holding on to like a possession. If Nightsister magic can accomplish immortality with no downsides, then what is so immoral about the Sith doing it?

I think Bad Batch has good character work, and you can tell there is a desire to tell darker or interesting stories in there. It is mired by a bad central and inconsistent plot, now a plot that solely exists to explain “somehow, Palpatine returned” instead of the send off for the clones and the transition to the Empire which it does well at times. Also this most recent season has a giant monster every other episode. Not an exaggeration. It’s like a crutch. We can’t just have characters talk. No no, giant monster! Ventress needs to use her lightsaber on a giant monster!

Bro, there's so much they could've and *should have* done with the 8 episodes they had to work with. I get that it wasn't even a full season, and 4 of the 12 episodes they were making were automatically reserved for the finale, but even then, what a fucking waste. If they really felt like they needed to show Ahsoka's life before she returned to the army then that easily could've been one episode, maybe two at most. Same with Rex and the Bad Batch rescuing Echo, that didn't need to be *four* fucking episodes. And considering how much ground Tales of the Jedi and soon Tales of the Empire covers despite the short run time of each episode, it's even more bullshit how that's all we got from Season 7. I'd much rather have a speedrun of several important events that barely get explored than eight episodes of learning about the Bad Batch and Martinez sisters.

What really struck me was the reluctance to create new characters. Ventress... Didn't really matter this episode? Like, the Bad Batch acknowledge she was a war criminal and moved to trust her with Omega at breakneck pace, she didn't tell them that the Emperor was a Sith Lord, or that the Clone Wars was controlled on both sides by him. Just off the top of my head those are the really interesting things you could do with her to justify bringing her back. Why was the random contact of Fennec Ventress as opposed to some random Jedi who survived? Then you could spend this episode investing in and building up a new character instead of autopsying an old one?

@@Reelglad God I wish you were right... Hell they doubled down and explained what Project Necromancer was off screen only before destroying it.
