You've probably already done this...but regarding the stand being wobbly, I would recommend ensuring that the screw hardware is tightened. I just purchased a new Wen splitter and it's not wobbly like yours. This was an awesome video. You covered everything in great detail. Thank you!

I have the exact same Wen splitter. I've had mine for about 4 years. It works good for feeding the smoker and the pizza oven. Have a nice day.

I have a old fold up 3x6 conference table for mine. It's nice having it on a big table, so you can grab and set down the halves of the log without them falling on the ground.

You can take the two wires coming from the motor unscrew them from the switch and just double them up on the other side of the switch hot to hot neutral the neutral. That way you're going straight from the extension cord through the breaker straight to the motor. If you ever want to put it back screw them back to the other side of the switch. Simple

Great video. I agree completely. I have a 5 ton Yardworks model. Works the very same as yours. I have mine in my garage. I can pick it up and put it in my truck, and take it to my sons. And he has the same splitter and mine. I’ve had mine 5 years now and it’s done 40 cords. If mine breaks beyond repair, I just buy another one. Great units.

Have you split oak or hedge with it and if so, how well does it do with those type of woods?
@noelstractors-firewood5711 ай бұрын
@@billwelch9431 I have split locust and elm with mine. Worked great. No oak or hedge. 👍🏻👋

@@noelstractors-firewood57 thanks. I'm just thinking some of the bigger ones that are 30+ Ton, hard to believe this little thing would be adequate.

I see the new ones this year can be ordered with the foot switch made by the same company, they learn and make changes when they can, the foot switch is much better , it frees up one hand to guide the log and keep it steady.

excellent.........it would seem that a footswitch would be much better

Nice review. Thanks! How do you like the stand? Is it easy to move the splitter from where it's stored to where you want to split logs or is it wobbly? It looks like it might want to tip over the splitter if you're not careful.

Always wood that is easily split. Wish I could see one of these split some locust wood. Then you would know just how good they are.

Maybe a jam nut on the length adjuster bolt would solve the vibrating loose problem.

hello and thanks for the review. 😀 I have this unit and love it as well. could you tell me what the s - shaped knob on the back side across from the length adjustment ring. it's been awhile since I used it and forget it's purpose. thought it might be the fluid dipstick but not sure. Kevin

@@kevinruggles9180 It is likely the hydraulic vent, if I understand what you’re describing.

I'd weld some teeth on the ram piece so wood can't slip up and hit you when you're splitting it. Some of the better 7 ton splitters have teeth on the ram to grip the wood better.

Have a question have you ever tried a 4 way wedge with the unite
@OldSoulMillennial Жыл бұрын
I have not, however I can tell you that this splitter just doesn't have the power to push a 4 way

Have you considered grinding a few notches to the bar for the set screw at some pre-determined lengths?
@OldSoulMillennial Жыл бұрын
Some grind marks on that rod may be a good idea. You would have to be careful not to really take any material off those rods though.

How about getting rid of the little thumb wheel and replace it with a bolt with a hex and then use a wrench to crank it down?

Button for right hand is NOT a safety measure - just cost Stop the unnecessary risk Think. Small bar clamp as $2 fixes set screw.

Any idea if it would run off a honda 2200 generator?
@Jack_Move Жыл бұрын
That would be pushing it hard. That Generator has a max output of 15 amp's , Splitter is rated at 15 amps peak which means on Bigger or harder wood it pay creep to around 20amps when pushed hard.
