The stand looks a bit flimsy and I would add an additional cross bar on the bottom of the stand at the wedge end of the splitter so it wouldn't tip over. And a log table on each side of the wedge to catch the split pieces from falling on the ground or your foot.

I have been looking at the Wen splitter for purchase. Nice review. I think I would perhaps beef up the stand, or build a better stand. Thanks for sharing. - Rick

The stand has held up, we use it daily, but we baby it.I definitely recommend building or buying a better stand.

I just received my splitter today and need to assemble it. With it being about 100 lbs, and me being 70 years old, I'm off to a bad start 🤣. But seriously, I would like to have it on the stand as you have there, but with it being top heavy, how stable is it when moving it. Do I need to fear it may tip over? One question I have is, how hard is it to tip it vertically to check the oil and how often should you do that? Now the manual contradicts itself with a chart that says you can use a 14 gauge extension cord at 25' and a 12 gauge with 50'. But elsewhere in the manual is states not to use a cord longer than 25'. What is your recommendation as a user?

The stand is so flimsy, you’re better off to build your own. We check the oil every few weeks, hasn’t needed any oil. Definitely get a industrial grade extension cord as you will inevitably drop a log on it. We use this one amzn.to/3Kb2Izy

Right there with ya, have a WEN chainsaw that I love dearly where gas ryobi let me down. So just ordered one of these, thanks for the review. We're getting a wood stove and lol yeah going to really like something like this.

Just bought the same one. I may be wrong but I don't believe wen actually makes this product, I think they just put a their label on it. I agree about the stand though. Put mine together last night. Definitely not the greatest.

These small electric splitters are basically all same, made probably in same China ccp plant. Difference is quality control and features like a stand and pedal foot switch which I highly recommend keeps you face away from the wood.
