Just graduated high school and I’ve been training for about 5 years. Watching your videos for the past 2 years have really given me a good idea of what elite training looks like. All the coaches I’ve had throughout high school didn’t live what they taught and ironically didn’t know what they were talking about. Living what you teach is an important attribute and keeping longevity in mind is crucial. The content you produce is greatly underrated and deserves immense praise. Keep doing what you’re doing!

I think one of the best features of conjugate for young trainers is it taps into their craving of variety. Westside for skinny bastards by Joe de Franco was my favorite routine in high school and college.

I first got in touch with the conjugate system in a magazineI bought, but it wasnt really well descripted so i got overtrained fast cause I didnt understand how to program it right. A few years later I gave it a shot again and singed myself up on the conjugate club site and now Im doing this for quite a long time and Im getting cuase now i understand the whole program and Im getting strongerand stronger.

I am from the former Eastern Block. First of all top athletes were basically pros. Nobody worked. We could be at the training camps usually 9 months out of the year. Scientific sport publications for coaches were semi classified. You could not share them with foreigners. Even to this day there are publications in the archives that were never translated to English. You can dig them out but you have to know Russian or Polish..

So with the conjugate system are you still training your muscle groups twice a week. Where once a week you're doing Max effort with heavy weights for certain selected exercises and also once a week you're doing fast explosive sets with lighter weight to not create anxiety and burnout. Very interesting, seems like an intellectual way to train to ensure longevity.

Thank you for the great video as always!!! I’m a 50 year old lifter who has just started conjugate in the last month mainly due to injury and training “mileage” as you put things. Any resources and modifications you would make for an old fart like me. So far I’ve just trimmed volume on assistance work but want to make sure I’m thinking correctly. I’m finding out there’s not as much forgiveness in training as I get older.

Russia cares more about strength than we do. They value it on a national level. Of course their options are limited in life choices. I agree. Psychologically I get burned out doing the same thing. Injuries mount from overuse. Overtraining. Gotta mix it up.

Hey Matt, was re-watching a lot of your seminars on the NSCA KZbin page going into detail about the conjugate method. Love all the info you've given particularly with compression vs traction lift and giving the ratio of total volume for both; an absolute gem. I understand the general layout, as you've shown high level army sample layouts. But they do not show week to week % changes for dynamic effort days or rep changes from 2's/3's/5's for max effort day. Do you have a general template that has week to week structuring, so I can structure my own. I don't believe its in any of the manuals, is it available on patreon? Cheers
@WenningStrength2 жыл бұрын
Yes we can answer any of that on top tier patreon - and the manuals cover different areas of that system

You keep on preaching conjugate is the right method to training but I just don’t ever see it now a days,anywhere. You keep talking this old Soviet way or whatever but where are these training principles in present time? All of the top guys raw,tested and untested,train frequent,specific and have been for years on end now. I’d like to see some current examples where conjugate is king

Well I just broke the all time rep squat record at 43 with 520x24. Got any other smart ass remarks?? Maybe get strong first and last 10 or more years before talking shit on a world class athletes page?? Just and idea 🤣

You automatically got defensive when I asked for content that might help boost your backing about this subject and audience at that. I wasn’t leaving any smart ass remark. Legit want to see current examples of this conjugate method you say is best cause like I said,none of these top guys are using it and the best you come up with is a rep record?
